Vader Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 DR S that's a great first review, thanks for posting it *y* I love this set and when i saw it in my local TRU i really wanted it, however the high price tag just put me off so much. :'-( Quote
Courleciel Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 There is fantastic! Very super! *wub* Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted December 15, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted December 15, 2007 Thanks Doc! Is this your first review? You did a hell of a job. This set looks very decent. Non to little <insert that tiresome argument> partes. TLC is learning... Two military vehicles, a horse and 4 figs... that's all we want from a set. Quote
Siegfried Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 That set is beautiful! *wub* The trucks look so great and that tarp piece would be very useful. I didn't realise that it had a golden chest either. What is the piece that the wheels attach to; is it new? I really love the suspension effect. Unfortuntaly I was/am planning on missing this set as I want the others for the mini-figs and I'm not sure if I want 4 Indys! Ahh well, they don't turn up until March in Australia so I have a while to decide. :-/ Thanks so much for doing this great review. It's pretty darn good for a first too. *sweet* Of course, as you've shown here, this amazing set can be made even better with a few Brickarms accessories added in for some historically accurate flavor. ;-) badger Nice plug! :-P Quote
Doctor Sinister Posted December 15, 2007 Author Posted December 15, 2007 (edited) Thanks for the feedback on the review, hope I did the set proud - it's become one of my top three because it is so...perfect. Some pix as requested. 1) New pieces? I've not seen them before...? 2) The underside of the car - just because I wanted to show you the pieces under there. 3) The wheel sections. Not sure if the middle piece is new or not. 4) As requested, a picture of the truck with the canvas hood off. Dr. S. Thanks Doc! Is this your first review? You did a hell of a job. This set looks very decent. Non to little <insert that tiresome argument> partes. TLC is learning... Two military vehicles, a horse and 4 figs... that's all we want from a set. I agree entirely. thank you so much! i can't stress that enough! thank youi know this might sound weird :-$ but could you possibly tell me if their are two or three soldiers on the top of the box? thank you (how many times have i said that? :-P ) There are three. Awesome! I'm so jealous. Thanks for the great reviews. I'm moving it to the correct forum... Sorry, I keep forgetting it's here. Thanks. Fantastic review, Sinister! Really, as my recent attempts have taught me all too well, it's hard getting shots that good, and your pics are excellent. Nice work! Thanks Badger! :-$ Hmm, I thought that was another top underneath it. It doesn't look flesh coloured in the photos. I suppose it could be another top underneath - but given that these guys are in the desert - would you want to be wearing two shirts? :-D The colour isn't quite the same as the head and hands and it would be easy enough to dismiss on that basis if you wanted to use yellow minifig parts. Thank you for the great review Dr. S *y* . I am definitly buying this set, I *wub* the look of the whole set. Where did you find this? I am surprised at the treasure chest though. In the movie they were transporting the Ark. I am confused why Lego did not make a model of the Ark. VERY COOOOL anyway!! Found in Toys R Us here in Basingstoke, UK - it seems a lot of TRUs in the UK have them now. I think the ark is in another set. Dr. S. Edited December 15, 2007 by Doctor Sinister Quote
Siegfried Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 1) New pieces? I've not seen them before...? Nah, they are old. The hinge piece I have in my Slave 1, the radiator is a racer/turbos part, and the pinned plate is old. Ahh well. Thanks for the extra photos. *sweet* Quote
Doctor Sinister Posted December 15, 2007 Author Posted December 15, 2007 (edited) Nah, they are old. Thanks for the extra photos. *sweet* Wasn't sure on the plate to be honest, but the others were new to me - nice pieces though. The hinge plate is chunkier than others I have - it has raised sections and isn't as smooth. You can see it best at the back here: Dr. S. Edited December 15, 2007 by Doctor Sinister Quote
Matn Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Wowzie! That's a sweet set for an even sweeter price! I'm surely gonna get this one, but first on the list are the Harry Potter fleshie sets (the sets who I always evaded). Great vehicles and great minifigs. Thanks Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 (edited) Joining the others in praise for the excellent photo's you've taken, Doctor Sinister. Thank you very much! YAY: - no stickers - nice notzi hats - cool vehicles - gold chest & coins - Krum, Jameson and Wayne faces (I wanted those but couldn't get them in their original sets) NON YAY: - Minor gripe: Indy looks exactly the same in all 4 sets. Couldn't TLC "pull a Batman/Spongebob" and have him wear a slightly different outfit in some sets? Like: one without jacket, or one with a black tie like in Crusade (the Motorcycle Chase set would've been perfect for that). Of course the Non Yay is faaaaar inferior to the Yay! I'm getting all four Indy sets the day I see them in the store. The creative notzi faces give me good hope Jock and Satipo will not both share the same face. I was afraid all the peripheral characters (all notzi's, Jock, Satipo) would have the Bruce Wayne head. Apparently not. Yay! Edited December 15, 2007 by Mr Spielbrick Quote
jamtf Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 I remember from the movie that the cold crate / chest should have been formed like the ark. The ark was put inside a wood crate with nazi markings (black eagle and swastika's) on each side. Too bad that Lego did not try to recreate a more accurate ark that would fit inside a wood crate in the back of the truck. Of course, they should have left out the nazi markings. X-D Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Fantastic review, Dr. S! I really like the new set, I am gonna get doubles! The minifigs look nice, as do the truck and jeep. *wub* Quote
Skinny Boy Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Amazing set and review. Cant wait until Ireland catches up Quote
xwingyoda Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Tks DS for that great review of a fantastic set 8- Quote
Wout Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Very nice review, thank you I'm happy with the 3 different faces of the notzies. I didn't even had Jonah Jameson face so this is a nice try to catch him atlast. the dejuniorizing of these cars are very good. and Indy looks also good. Quote
Doctor Sinister Posted December 15, 2007 Author Posted December 15, 2007 I have at least several in red and tan ;-) The red comes from the 7942 Off road fire resue and the tan from the 6209 Slave1 ;-) Ah yes, I see it now. Dr. S. Quote
Ronan Nissen Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Amazing set and review. Cant wait until Ireland catches up Same here. Was there any other indiana jones sets there?? Quote
Doctor Sinister Posted December 15, 2007 Author Posted December 15, 2007 Same here. Was there any other indiana jones sets there?? 7623 and 7624 - all sold out today though, I checked. Dr. S. Quote
Ronan Nissen Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 When they bring more sets in could you take a few pics of them because I only know what the prototypes look like. Quote
Doctor Sinister Posted December 15, 2007 Author Posted December 15, 2007 When they bring more sets in could you take a few pics of them because I only know what the prototypes look like. Sure thing, unless someone finds some first - I got lucky here I think. Dr. S. Quote
Indy565 Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 I own #7620, #7621 and #7623! Just one more Indy set and I've got them all! :-P Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 (edited) Too bad you don't have a camera, Indy565. I'm so psyched for this line. Can't wait to get my hands on all four of 'em. The flesh heads will come in handy for my custom brickflick characters. And the Indy-specific stuff like the Ark and the idol... gotta love it. *y* *wub* Edited December 15, 2007 by Mr Spielbrick Quote
zz-80 Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Yiihaaa!! This set is so adorable!! *wub* I can't wait to get my hands on that! Thanks for the nice review!! *y* Quote
salty tbone Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Thank's for the great pictures! It got me so excited for this set I braved the Saturday shopping crowd/traffic in the hopes of finding one for myself. As luck would have it, the Toys R Us near me in Pennsylvania has almost ALL the new sets, including Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Exo-Force and Sponge-Bob. This was $30.99 (I was never so happy to pay the TRU mark-up X-D ) Quote
Oky Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Nah, they are old (...) and the pinned plate is old. *sweet* Are you sure about the plate? Cause I thought so too, but if you look closely at it, it has two pins coming out on each side at the corners, and that's not the case on the ones I know. Besides, it would be plausible that TLC would bring out some new grills (or whatever you may call'em) considering that there are some new, larger ones of those used in the 2008 police station as slidable jail bars. Of course this is all splitting hairs here, but my christmas break just started and I have nothing better to do! X-D Quote
Corvus Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Not much to say on this set, IMO, except that it makes me VERY happy. *sweet* Bah, who am I kidding? I'll talk about it anyway. X-D The truck is sweet. I'm amazed that it's not <insert that tiresome argument>- TLC is definately appealing to the older fans as well as the kiddies. I love the mud flaps, and the way the canvas is held up- great. The canvas itself is great, because I was expecting cardboard from the preliminary pics. The car is awesome. Just beautiful. *wub* Will Quote
