Hi mortesv, I didn't think that you could improve on the original version, but this has taken it to another level :wub:

I can't wait to see the instructions, especially the design of the frame. I did try to briefly build one myself in LDD but got totally frustrated with it - I'm sure there's a knack to creating the angles correctly, but it's one I clearly lack!! If the rumoured new UCS Snowspeeder isn't any good, I'd love to do take this as project for the winter, it looks like quite a challenge!

Most of the people always want Lego stuff for free, especially instructions.

Paying 10/20/50€ for an instructions, is basically nothing. Especially if the model to reproduce requires a 1000 or 2000€ budget.

But well... explaining this is a waste of time.

Those who pay a good/fair price for instructions do not need explanations. As for those who want instructions for free, they will never understand such an explanation. They just want the instruction for as little money as possible. Next.

Beautiful new version ! For having worked on my own frig, I can say how this version is good with some points :

- your respect of the proportions

- high degree of details.

The most funny is that I just finished my own NEW version of frig :)

So many years without nothing and now lots of redemtpion frigs...

It appears in the last few minutes of Episode V, when Luke has been rescued from Cloud City. Luke is shown recovering on it (plus gaining his robotic hand); I haven't seen ESB for a while, but there's a brief scene of it with the Falcon attached underneath if I recall correctly. The last few seconds of the film show Luke and Leia staring out of a viewport towards a galaxy - this is what mortesv refers to in his first post

Thank you Lobot! Hopefully the instructions will be done before winter - but I also hope the Snowspeeder is awesome (I had to mod the old one quite a bit :)

Regarding the angles - I am not sure lego would ever make a set with angles set up this way ;)

The frigate in ISD scale was some I threw together using parts I had lying around - it could probably be improved a lot. I will post a few pictures of it later :)

It translate very faithfully the spirit of the movie fregate : this mishmash of different modules.

You choose a very good scale to get the good compromise between "reasonable" size and details.

The other Nebulon MOC that I've seen look more "toys".

It belongs to the Star Wars MOC hall of fame for me now.

I can't believe I missed this. I've been keeping my fingers crossed and you've come up trumps. That sir is an incredible build and I will pay whatever good money is required to own one.

I love the intricate attention to detail throughout. One question though. How would you rate the complexity of the build? I'm no beginner but would hate to invest in this and hit a wall I couldn't get around

To everyone who is interested in this absolutely gorgeous model, I am sure that you have heard the rumors of a professional grade instruction manual, and in the words of Han Solo, "It's true, all of it"

It is indeed true that a manual will release, and I am currently working on it as I type! Along with the manual will be some awesome content, but we will save that surprise for later. Obviously the biggest thing in your mind is "When will it be done?"

To answer that question, I am pushing myself to get this done 100% ready for release on June 1. What is keeping me from making the release date sooner is the fact that there is one tricky thing for me to do in terms of reverse engineering this model, but once that part is done, it will be very easy to finish the manual up. It is very possible that I can get the manual done before then, but let's keep it as June 1 for now in order to avoid pushing the date back at all

I tend to write very long comments with lots of suggestions for improvement. But not for this MOC. It's just so amazing, I can't fault a single brick in it. I really can't find the words to describe this beauty, so awesome, awesome job, mortesv

I love reading your description of the challenge of every nook and cranny of the build, and I have no doubt you have a lot more fun things to tell. It shows how much of a labor of love this has been, translating every last detail of the studio model to your replica, and not making any compromises about it, going for quite complicated techniques to realize a single detail. The comparison picture shows it very clearly, but you can also feel it in how complete and coherent the ship feels. Every area has the same level of detail, even the seemingly plain ones you textured with tiles in a very clever way, which gives the ship an unparalleled level of realism. There are so many areas with a distinct personality, but by having the same level of detail everywhere, you made sure it all comes together really nicely in the end, getting to the heart of the original design. Another factor in this are the fun parts you have in there that make it worthwhile discovering every area: those grey buckets, the air tanks... again, just like in the original: a model to respect, but one that can make you laugh as well. A model with a heart, because the designers of the studio model put their heart in it, and because you put your heart in it. Wait, doesn't that make your model better than the original ?

This is where I normally write about suggestions, but again, none to be had here: who am I to make remarks to someone who has looked at the model over and over and over again?

O, all right then, just one I'm wondering if there is no better way to recreate the stabilizing vanes. All of those antistuds stand out against a model that is so finished overall. Something SNOTted might be too thick. But how about Technic panels and Bionicle/Hero Factory pieces (60935 for instance). It might be a bit dangerous to have such a different kind of part in a model that is quite consistent, but you can always try.

And of course, there is one thing that is "wrong" with this model... it is too big! Otherwise, my fleet of micro ships would be perfectly in scale But I see you manage very well yourself with the micro ships.

So once again: awesome creation, mortesv. This really is one of the ages: now we only need to change the blog's banner. In the meantime, we'll have to do with this:
