I had similiar problem when I was building my Iveco and I have found this solution:

Worked great. Maybe try something similiar?

That seems to be a good solution, not sure if that is applicable to my MOC easily but it's really interesting.

Congratulations with a new title, Lucio!

Oh, well, jokes aside

I looked to the suspension, and saw that you used an axle with negative castor. Why did not you use the same scheme as in your ACT's 1st axle? Not enough room in the front?

The most for the different shape of the model, the "pillar" of the 1st axle would be out in front of the front bumper. After that, the chassis over the 1st axle is a filled with pneumatic pumps and the winch.

If it's only this, it's gone better than I thought!

Can I ask you to be more precise?

Well Lucio you know very well that it's gone absolutely well!!!

Ok so I don't see the point or need to use the "ball socket and ball joint beam to recreate suspensions, I mean let's just have leafsprings instead of "locking/pivoting" the axle in one point.....also normally you want the ball socket to be in front of the axle so it can swings easily when wheels meet an obstacle..... Anyway this is a great MOC as I said and you can be super proud of it! Would be nice to see and play with this beast one day!!

That sounds like a challenge!

I like what I built,if not, this MOC would not be here, but I also know that it's far from perfection  ...there are lots of things that are different from the reality, I just asked to know what in particular, so I could share my experience and explain my choices.

The ball joints are obviously one of those things. Assuming that everything can be improved and this MOC isn't an exception....to recreate how the real thing works I have to use a sliding transmission shaft. I know 2 ways to do that in Lego, the first with CV joints, but it will be too weak for this scale (and weight), the other one using 4185 parts, but thats will be too bulky.

I never used the leaf springs on the front axles for difficulty to arrange something with the steering system on them.

The first prototype had a linkage system for steering instead 2 Servo motors, but, probably always due to the weight, there was too much backlash, so I quitted this solution.

That sounds like a challenge!

I bet that you can arrange something better!!

Huge thing!!! Very nice truck. You can transport a cat if you have :)

I haven't, but a baby will come in August..

Yes I uderstand your choices anyway..at that scale it's a nightmare to make things work nicely due to the weight!

I do have backlash on my MAN TGS but somehow I did prefer to recreate the real thing rather than making it perfect!

Anyway...Lucio..one again thank you for sharing this with us and for making amazing mocs all the time!!!

I'm waiting to see your MAN finished with the crane in a video...I'm really curious...

Beeb busy with work but I keep working on it to make it all work smooth and nice! So as soon as it's ready will be shown! And hopefully I can add next to it a surprice as well!

Anyway....are you planning to create a "hook arm container" version of your truck?? that would be epic!!

Nice video! Very entertaining.

Looking at your MOC history, I should have given you the technic_pro.png tag. The only reason I am not doing it right now, is to keep you motivated for your next MOC

Great work, seriously!

That should be some good motivation! You should probably give him the pneumatic tag though.

I hope that you like and that you will find answers to your questions!

Maestro, tanto di cappello!

I love everything about this truck. Your work is so inspiring to a fledgling builder such as myself.

Could you post a few detailed pics of the anti-roll bar?

The crane truck is even cooler!

I was proud of the crane, there are 6 M motors that actuated 6 pneumatic valves, 2 L motor for rotating it and for the winch, 4 IR reciever a battery pack and 2 air tanks...everything packed in a relatively small room....pity that it doesn't work properly.

It's really hard to control the descent of the arms (actually it's more a ruinous fall than a descent) and the 2 air tanks degrade performance rather than improve them. Also the stabilizers .... don't stabilize that much.

Dude... That has got to be my favorite Lego video of all times. The truck looks so sick!! Gotta build this for sure. Instructions NOW!! :)

Thanks! I started to put something in Bricksmith yesterday night, but it will be a long work.

Reading between the lines...That means that I have to find a way to fix the crane?

Thanks! It's not in a good position to take better pics than what you saw in the video....but it's really similar to the one that I used on my ACT...and probably it's the only thing that work like the real one.

That is my experience with air tanks as well. You just have to get rid of them, that would for sure improve things...! You have to find a way to limit the movement of the Pneumatic switches. That is the only way to have real life movement of the crane...!:classic:

Well, I done my experience and I learned something new...basically they make only increase the volume that should be filled (at least in my case)...but it cost me a small fortune!

In extension the movements are even too much smooth! the problem is in contractions, when force of gravity shows its power :classic: ...I was thinking to strangle those hoses to limit the flux, but it does not seem very elegant.....or maybe a discarge circuit.

Yeah, I know, those air tanks are indeed a little expensive...if that's not an understatement...

You could experiment with having the switch blocked. With this I mean for contracting the switch should not be allowed to have its full travel. So it is limited to let's 25% or so what makes the flux limited as well...that is what I would do... :classic::thumbup:

For whom is interested I have some good news.

I finished the ldraw file. It's a draft version and I have to do all the steps sequence, but things are progressing!!

Haha. Good luck with that!:thumbup:

How many parts does the model have?

HI,When I saw this work was completely attracted, now only look forward to is when they can out of the drawing, I prepared a part is to build it, and then take it to outdoor fun, don't know this desire when it can be achieved, about drawing if there is progress or time table?
