So today I received a second email from Lego S@H that the set will be delayed. The first email was on the same day that I placed my order, which was June 1st. Seems like it won't matter when you ordered, everyone will get theirs in August.

I'm quite fed up with the wait. Everyone seems to have the set (although that's my feeling) and I'm still waiting for the S@H misery to finish up the good way of packing the box of parts. Useless and rubbish that's what jumps to my mind.

This situation creates a lot of rumours. Today for example an employee in a local toy store here said he thought the 42056 was only produced in a series of 40000 with the exclusive box and hinted that after those, the set might be available in a "normal" box. He didn't provide sources, so I'm doubtful. This shop hasn't seen any 42056 boxes, but there will be some available in september ... not sure what to think at the moment.

I also got an email with the excuses for the delay. They expect it will be for sale on the 29th of july. I will cancel the reservation, wait till the first of august and buy it from a tiny Lego shop in Hoorn, the Netherlands for 41€ cheaper than the price Lego advertise with on lego shop.nl

Hello all, I am from Toronto, Canada.

I have been calling my local Lego store every Wed since last month because Wednesday is the day that new shipments arrive. Everytime I called, I was told either it was sold out or no stock will be coming in today or next Wed. So I decided to take a day off and go to the store today to try my luck.

I arrived just before 11am and guess what, a box of Porsche was sitting right in front of the cashier desk.

I walked to the cashier and began our conversation:

Me: "Is it the new Porsche..."

Cashier: "Yes, it is."

Me: "Can I have it? (I am afraid that it is just an empty box or pre-order waiting to be picked up)"

Cashier: "Of course you can. In fact, it is the last one we got."

I immediately pulled out my wallet and finished the transaction, walked out of the store with a huge grin on my face.

During my conversation I had with the cashier, I told her that I cannot order online. She then told me that due to the size and weight of the box, Lego decided not to make it available online until they come up with a better shipping method that can keep the box in pristine condition for collectors. And the only way to buy it is to buy it through a physcial store. The one that I got has couple minor scratches on the side of the box but I am okay with it.

Not sure if the situation applies to other countries, but it may explain why the delay in shipment for online orders.

It's starting to look funny, because they really advertised it to be almost exclusively available online. Only afterwards it seems to be available anywhere but.

The estimated ship date on the Australian site is slowly slipping forward. It has gone from the 29 July to 22 July and now to 18 July. Eventually we'll get there.

Yes... :D

But it's worst when you do photography of your MOC and by processing you realise something like this... :D

So shipping estimation changed to 7th of July - my problem right now is that I don't know if my order is still active in their system or not. Money they charged from my card is back on my account, order status says "backordered". I'm not sure now if I should create another order when it gets back to stock or not...

I think it's worth a call to LEGO Customer Service.

I just got an email from TLG. My order, which was placed like two weeks ago, will not come until Aug. They indeed state there is something wrong with the packaging. They stated they are throwing in a 25$ Lego credit though.....

I just got 42056 set from an LCS in Singapore last Friday, 2 nights ago, thanks to them for notifying their members about early arrival.

What I can report to the Eurobricks community are these:

-. The set that I got are still sealed with "do not put on shelf until 1 June" label, so this must be the early shipment intended for 1 June LCS release but because Singapore is far from Denmark, it took 20+ days to arrive.

-. The LCS notified its members last Friday midday about the first shipment and told us that no next shipment until August++, each person can only buy 1 physically from the store (for now) and they somewhat implied that if you didn't come (that night), you would not get one.

-. As I already committed to buy one, I arrived at the store about 6pm after work that day and what I saw was this scene: ~5 person in front of me, all buying the same thing: 42056 and 1 after me, yes wanting to buy the same thing too, and this thing is not cheap in Singapore: 549.9 SGD (365 Euro/406 USD).

-. The store staff told me that they expect their stocks (estimated ~20 copies seen when I arrived) would become out of stock again (by the time I post this) as the number of members reserving the set > the available stock.

-. I only come out of dark age in 2013, so I didn't know much about the history, but I feel this can be one of the most anticipated set recently.

Personally:

-. As of now, I have reached box 3... this thing is incredibly huge, dwarfing my 42009 and 42043... My wife says it is beautiful (without box 4 yet) and my two kids are putting their Duplo stuffs on the two chairs and luggage area.

-. I can't say I am a Technic expert at this stage but after building box 1 "as carefully as I can" (using default settings as in thick booklet, just to get a feeling how bad it is), that gearbox indeed stalls a lot and only neutral mode is 'smooth' :(,

many younger kids will have problems making this set works out of the box with the default building instruction...

-. Soon, I will spend some time re-reading the 42056 MOD thread and try the expert suggestions over there :).

For those wanting the set but haven't got it yet:

-. I was there... Hang on, August should be soon :).

I juz got mine today :) so happy but wont be opening until the final mod from the experts is out :)

Depends on your goal. Assuming you will keep it MISB to sell it; you can probably make some money. You won't be the only one with this plan though. Don't think Millennium Falcon like scenarios.

I contacted the customer service earlier this week to ask the same thing. Placed the order on the 1st of June and the status has been "backordered" for a while now. I was told the order is still in their system and that one will be shipped to me as soon as their first batch arrives. They expected this first batch to arrive on the 7th of July.

This was told to me when the Dutch store still mentioned the 8th of July as the shipping date, but since then the date has been changed to the 6th of July, so it might be shipping even sooner.

By the looks of it, no matter when you ordered the set and how much time has passed since, as long as its status is "backordered", they will ship it as soon as the sets arrive in their warehouses. So just over a week to go before Dutch people can expect their orders to ship!

As there are no official Lego stores in the Netherlands the long wait for many Lego Technic fans in this country will soon be over at last ! (Unless these people have already crossed the border by now to buy their sets in Belgium or Germany )

The long wait is nearly over. Too bad that it would not have made much of a time difference if you decided to wait until the proper release in August. :sceptic:

If only I had ordered it through the German Porsche store as Didumos did. He still got one of the first batch and just look at how much work he has already done in improving the set. I don't think the set would be the same without him.
