Hold0511 Posted May 24, 2016 Posted May 24, 2016 Every time we have an update it just makes me smile more and more - what an awesome job. Quote
mfrazier Posted May 25, 2016 Posted May 25, 2016 Fantastic model. Looking forward to instructions. Quote
mortesv Posted May 26, 2016 Author Posted May 26, 2016 Hi guys, quick update: The instructions maker is working day and night to meet the June 1st deadline - the instructions "book" is going to be BIG! :D I have also tweaked the back section a bit and - uh, what is this? A scale Imperial shuttle! [/url] I hope it is Tydirium, but those two escorting TIEs makes it seem unlikely :) Quote
FrankusFurtus Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Simply great - cannot await to get the instructions... But R2 is a bit out of scale Quote
Cyanide-Tipped Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 How to justify to my wife the cost to make this. Think...think...think... Got it! This model will go in our future son's Star Wars room (due in Sept.) as part of the decoration! Huzzah! ;) Quote

ecmo47 Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 Ahhh! Thus the press to get the instructions done! I remember the baby days and how the missus does not take too kindly lots of Lego time with a new little one in the house. Congrats to both of you. Any info on how your going to distribute the plans? I do hope you place a price on your instructions 'cause (literally) "baby needs a new pair of shoes!" Quote
Cjd223 Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 (edited) Update for the Eurobricks Community: The instructions are progressing very well. I am planning on getting a lot of work done the next two days, which will hopefully close out the toughest part. Now if you do the math, that would leave two days to finish everything including stitching together a .pdf, finalizing some other files and making a few (Not saying what the "Files" are to keep it a surprise). So, is it possible? Likely not. It would take a few all-nighters to get her done for June 1, which I cannot justify due to school work being loaded on me this week and next week (If it weren't for my oppressive teachers I wouldn't mind the all-nighters). Plus, I would hate to rush through some sections of the manual that would result in an unstable build and very odd steps. As mortesv said above, the manual is indeed big, in fact HUGE. I haven't looked at the page count yet as that is basically the last step, but I can already tell that this will far exceed the 1,089 pages from Cavegod's AT-AT manual. I hope everyone understands the current issue with finishing this up with the quality that I want it to have. After all, for the best things in life, wait you must. I am adjusting my goal date to Thursday June 9 at 7:00 U.S Eastern Time (This is day/time that movies usually premiere in the States). The hype train shall keep rolling on until next Thursday! jamie75 Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 Take your time. Give me longer to figure out how to hide this from my wife!! But, seriously, thanks for your hard work. Jamie Quote
Azrielsc Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 Thanks for the update on the instructions. And take your time Cjd223! :) Quote
Cyanide-Tipped Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 Congrats to you mortesv. And thanks for the congrats, guys (and the ideas of what to do about getting it in the baby's room, haha). Do not worry at all Cjd223, we understand. Ohhhh... ye ol' college days. More than a 1000 pages will be nuts. I'm looking forward to the instructions for the mini-scaled MF too. I'm making the baby a Lego Star Wars ship mobile for the room. :D Quote
ecmo47 Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 (edited) Any updates on the 9 June release? Just trying to plan my Thursday! Do I need to be home in front of the computer at 7:00 or should I go to the end-of-year church BBQ? While I am very much looking forward to these plans, don't rush on my (our?) account. I have all summer! What program will be needed to run the instructions? Obviously (and thankfully!) this is not going to be in LDD. Hope the school work is going well. Well to answer your question, I would attend the end of the year BBQ. Ironic isn't it that my teachers load on work for the last 2 weeks of the year. I am trying my hardest to budget my time between three different school projects, and the manual. I only have about 1,300 pieces to go, and they're pretty simple. However this thing may take a while to render out and I fear that I will finish on Thursday but it may take a day just to render out the images. So let's keep this simple and set the new target for June 16 at 7pm. It stinks to push it back a week, but my teachers have our projects due this Friday, so I hope to finish it up this weekend, then final touches. Quote
appiah4 Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 (edited) This thread is making me turn to the dark side in envy... Edited June 7, 2016 by appiah4 Quote
ecmo47 Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 (edited) Get that school work done! You're not getting graded on timeliness for the plans. I've waited years for this and another few weeks will not matter. One last question - is it possible to post the parts list? Or is that still in flux? Step one of these projects is draining the wallet on Bricklink. When I built Cavegods AT-AT a few years back, I remember that getting the parts took longer than the actual build. NorvernRob Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 This is something I'm going to have to build at some point, what an amazing model! Quote
Markalus Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 This thing is biblical in proportion! Or for us mere SW Lego fan mortals the equivalent of scaling Everest. I appreciate the time and effort you guys are putting in to make it possible for us to build. Although I suspect Bricklink might need its own medical attention once the instructions become available! Kalais Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Nebulon look awesome, do detailed! I love the greebling. Quote
tuggernuts Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Oh wow, I'm getting weak thinking about building this. This will be somewhere in the future. Saving for a house next year. Quote
Mathu83 Posted June 14, 2016 Posted June 14, 2016 Its so amazing what people can come up, the level of detail is insane and to make it all without following instructions incredible. Cant wait to see the instructions to try and figure out the thought process behind the build Quote
Azrielsc Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 I cannot imagine how am I going to hide the expenditure needed to build this monster of a build from the wifey!! Quote

Buy here a pair of shoes and lie about how much you spent. You got the pieces on "sale". Let us know how it turns out! Jamie PS, don't take advise from me!! Quote

Jamie PS, don't take advise from me!! Thanks Jamie but I don't think I will survive and post what happens if I did that. From the number of pieces of this MOC, I can roughly guestimate my cost would be in the S$3k region... Quote
jamie75 Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Ouch, where are you located?? I'll have to see how this comes out in the US after instructions are released. If this is close to your estimate, I may/ will have to reconsider. I'm hoping for about $600 tops. Smart not taking advise from me. I wouldn't! Jamie Quote
