Ouch, where are you located?? I'll have to see how this comes out in the US after instructions are released. If this is close to your estimate, I may/ will have to reconsider. I'm hoping for about $600 tops.

Considering that it's ~6,000 parts, and potentially upwards of 450 part types (assuming some rationalisation from the earlier version(s)) I'd guess that the final bill could be in the £7-800 range (or $1000+). Although a decent proportion of parts will be small, and relatively cheap, I think the main problem will be the wide range of different types needed. Unless you are very lucky and find a store with most of the parts, the postage is going to really add up from the multiple orders.....

I'm really tempted to have a bash at it though, it could be a fun project for the winter :classic:

With significant parts totals comes significant investment in both time and money. I don't see this being cheaper than Anio's Venator.

Smart not taking advise from me. I wouldn't!

Well, I live in sunny Singapore where the price of Lego is high and there aren't many BL stores locally, so I have to source from far-away countries like the US and Europe to get them bricks!

From my experience building Anio's Venator and other MOCs, my cost, after adding exchange rates & shipping, per brick price, regardless if it is new or used, averages out to be around US$0.35/brick. So if I were to use this cost and multiply by an estimated 6,000 piece set of the Nebulon, I would be looking at roughly US$2,100!!! Having a small collection of loose bricks doesn't help me too.

But of course, this is my situation and doesn't apply to a majority of the forumers here, who are mostly Europe/US based, and not like me, who is located in Asia.

I agree about the wide range of different elements in this build! That's why it looks so beautiful!

Wow, good luck with your search. Hope you find some deals and can finish this model too.

Regarding price. I built this in "two rounds" buying a lot of parts as experimentation. Add to this the fact the several orders were 1-5 brick types because I was impatient + my unoptimzed brickcount is around 550 types, I think I have probably used between 1200-1400$ in total.

Considering all this, I think a sub 1000$ should be doable - maybe even sub 800.

It all depends on the new BL buy algoritgm - and how many who are building the same model :)

Any updates? Can we expected plans to be posted today or is school still getting in the way? Thanks!

The manual is indeed done, but I am currently finishing up the files that go with the manual

I have a locked up schedule until tomorrow afternoon, but we hope to release the full manual package either tomorrow night or Saturday night

And as expected, this manual does top Cavegod's AT-AT in page length

Fantastic news. Is it also safe to assume that you guys have worked out a payment method (PayPal?) and price for the instructions and parts list?

So for everybody that is going to jump on this project, should we start a new thread to share our building experiences/trails/tips/calamities?

I am currently finishing up the last of the files and then the manual will be ready for distribution

Then it is just a matter of mortesv and I both approving that it is good to go.

Hopefully no delays occur. Again, the plan is to release the manual and extras at 7:00 U.S Eastern time tonight.
