GallardoLU Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 The size restrictions for the small category is 0 - 32x32 studs. The size restriction for the small category is 32x32 studs or larger. that's an awful wide window for the small category Quote
StarWars8Spoiler Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 (edited) Does the color restriction apply to minifigure prints? LDD's print selection for minifigures is not very effective for anything in the Star Wars universe save for the ones included from 7961. Edited May 4, 2016 by ChristopherLee Quote
Puvel Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 So we could for example recreate a scene from one of the Clone Wars episodes as long as the the main character is Obi Wan? Haven't read a lot of books or comics so my knowledge of the adventures in those is limited. Quote
MKJoshA Posted May 4, 2016 Author Posted May 4, 2016 Is it allowed to include legacy material or must it be strict canon material. Their is much more enjoyable scenes and moments found in the legacy zone. Just wondering. The details section tells me that you can base your scene from an EU event, an event meantioned in the movies but not seen, or you can completely make a scene up that takes place between the movies. Legacy/EU material is fine. As long as you include a main character and it's set sometime between one of the 7 movies, anything else is fair game. that's an awful wide window for the small category Thanks for catching that! Does the color restriction apply to minifigure prints? LDD's print selection for minifigures is not very effective for anything in the Star Wars universe save for the ones included from 7961. Custom decals for minifigures is allowed. So we could for example recreate a scene from one of the Clone Wars episodes as long as the the main character is Obi Wan? Haven't read a lot of books or comics so my knowledge of the adventures in those is limited. You can re-create a scene, or you can make up your own. Fictional or non-mentioned events are allowed! Actor Builder Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 How fictional can it be? I don't know much about Star Wars besides what I see in LEGO sets, so if I make a cool spaceship or something and put a Stormtrooper inside, does that count? I don't know enough about the plot to write fanfiction, if you know what I mean. If I have a character doing something out-of-character, will I be penalized? I guess I could watch the films, but I'm OCD about watching things in order, and nobody is willing to watch the Prequels with me. Quote
MKJoshA Posted May 6, 2016 Author Posted May 6, 2016 To wha date will the contest last? The contest runs until June 1st. How fictional can it be? I don't know much about Star Wars besides what I see in LEGO sets, so if I make a cool spaceship or something and put a Stormtrooper inside, does that count? I don't know enough about the plot to write fanfiction, if you know what I mean. If I have a character doing something out-of-character, will I be penalized? I guess I could watch the films, but I'm OCD about watching things in order, and nobody is willing to watch the Prequels with me. You could build a generic spaceship and put a Stormtrooper inside, but you probably won't get many votes. This is judged on public voting and most of those who vote will know a few things about Star Wars. So the same answer to your character question, if you have Luke Skywalker getting drunk (which I would argue is out of character) then you probably won't get many votes. I hope this contest is more about having fun than winning for most, so if you'll have fun building a Star Trek style spaceship while having a Jedi drinking party, go for it! It's totally against the Star Wars feel, and you're not likely to win, but at least you'll have fun and we'll all get a few laughs. But if you want to know more about Star Wars so you can build a more accurate MOC, I would suggest looking up a few things on Wookiepedia. I hope that helps. Quote
Actor Builder Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Alright, thanks for the reply. Most of my contest entries are satirical anyways, I'm always more for fun than winning! I'll see if I have time to make something... Quote
Galactic13 Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 I have just posted my entry in the small category. The link to the forum post can be found here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=131685 MOC - Lando's Wardrobe Raid #1 by Canaan May, on Flickr Quote
brickmasterben11 Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 Your Lando MOC is really cool, but what movies would it be related too? Quote
Forresto Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 Your Lando MOC is really cool, but what movies would it be related too? I'm assuming it's in Empire Strikes Back at the end when Lando is wearing Han's clothing for some apparent reason Quote
Galactic13 Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Yep, that's what I was referencing. Trying to add a bit of humor while also staying within canon. Quote
Leonardo da Bricki Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Question: If I build a spaceship that isn't square can it have dimensions like 32x50 studs? Or must a baseplate be used for the build? Quote
MKJoshA Posted May 9, 2016 Author Posted May 9, 2016 Baseplates and/or square builds are not required! You could have a 16x64 size build for the small category, or a 8x128, etc. Spaceships are fine without baseplates, just keep it within the small/large category sizes when posting. Quote
Forresto Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Here's a bizarre question but I just want to cross my t's. Since this is a contest relating to the films are we still allowed to use minifigures or figure elements that are only found in the sets pertaining to the Clone Wars series as long as they aren't referencing the actual series itself? Quote

All Clone Wars series minifgures, items, pieces, etc. are fair game. You just can't build an entry around a character that only appears in the Clone Wars series. But you could have Mace Windu along side Ahsoka and Hondo if you wanted. Quote
Leonardo da Bricki Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 Thanks for the clarification! Yay! No baseplate needed! But how do I choose the category? If both numbers are over 32, 36x98 for example, that equals Large category, right? Anything where one number is smaller than 32, 20x60 for example, is in the Small category? Quote
MKJoshA Posted May 11, 2016 Author Posted May 11, 2016 As long as the square studs do not exceed 1024, it fits in the small category. So a 20x60 would be too large because that's 1200 studs. Quote
Leonardo da Bricki Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Ohhhhh... By number of studs square. Thanks for the clarification. My ship is now definitely in the Large category... Quote
Columbus019 Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 AWESOME!!!! Now I just have to spend hours finding the most obscure, most awesome and easiest to make awesommely in lego star wars anthology story. I'm thinking of doing one of the new disney star wars books that came out a while ago (they are really good) Columbus Quote
Columbus019 Posted May 15, 2016 Posted May 15, 2016 I looked through all my expanded universe stuff and found an awesome comic set between episodes 4 and 5 where both luke and leia take on darth vader and cut off his arm (also has leia with lightsaber). Columbus Quote

Sounds like the adaptation of Splinter of the Mind's Eye, which was written by Alan Dean Foster after the first film as an idea for a lower-budget sequel that could be made if the first film tanked. It didn't, obviously, so SOTME became the first "EU" book, of a sort, and ESB became the sequel film. Years later, Dark Horse adapted it into comic form. Quote

Im working on recreating some frames from the comic book adaptation of it. Columbus Quote
TheNerdyOne_ Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Just to be sure, does the character have to appear in the movies? How about someone that was mentioned, but never actually made an appearance? For example, Sifo Dias? Quote
