The Arlinsport Gazette

Phlogisphere sucessfully launched

Today was great day for Corrington, Arlinsport and Science: Arlinsport became not only a port for the ships of the sea, but also a port for the ships of the sky. The whole town came to see an extraordinary show, which demonstrates the power of science. After the ground breaking work of the Eslandolan scientist Alberto de Pontelli, who shared his work with several gentlemen from Corrington, scientist and inventor Thaddeus Lupus was able to build a big Phlogisphere. Thaddeus Lupus started today from outskirts of Arlinsport into the sky. He was accompanied by the hero of the battle of Golden Bay: Lt. Bertram R. Wolf. For the launch most of the honourable citizens of Arlinsport were present: Mayor Mason Denear, Major Charles Tewkesbury, commander of the 1st Bataillion of the 33rd Regiment and the retired Admiral D.W. Hundsbottom.

After their start Mr Lupus and Lt.Wolf were able to fly for 20 minutes before landing in seas surrounding Tiberia, where they were picked up by a ship of the Seawolf Shipping company.

I love that newspaper article presentation! :)

Further, Thaddeus Lupus can be assured that the Royal Society of Natural Philosophy is following his experiments closely, and that if he continues his exploits, may expect to be asked to demonstrate his findings before the Society!

Sir, I am delighted to hear of your latest application of Phlogiston to flight. You may have heard that Alberti De Pontelli has recently carried out similar experiments and has conducted a manned flight of his own, but sadly failed to go anywhere due to a lack of wind. Thanks to the generous support of Lady Norrington, Mr Janszen and myself have been continuing our own experiments on the beach here at Port Raleigh. We believe that Major Howard may have devised a most ingenious solution to the problem of steering the phlogisphere. I look forward to hearing more developments on this fascinating project as your experiments continue, and I will keep you informed of my own work.

Great work.

It's amazing how the Corlanders have harnessed the power of Hades. :pir-oh:

Oleon has never thought to use power of the Underworld for flight.

Just be careful when meddling with such power, you're likely to get burned.

I almost missed this thread in the number of MOCs posted every day.

And I like the "Phlogisphere" (although it should be called "Ballhover").pirate_laugh2.gif
