To answer the OP's question, one needs to answer the following questions:

1. A car that is iconic, worldwide, not just in Europe or Hollywood

2. A car that many people would instantly recognize (You really do not want people asking: Pagani what?)

3. They already did the Tumbler (not a technic set, but quite iconic)

4. A MODERN car ... Lamborghini Countach is like your grandpa's Oldsmobile

Maybe if we started a poll with candidate cars, let the community vote, and 'maybe' TLG will listen and get some valuable input.

Nothing with less than 2 stud ground clearance, advanced suspension and at least AWD:

- Audi Nanuk (Concept)

- Lamborghini-based Giugiaro Parcour

- Giugiaro Parcour Sportiva

- Lamborghini Urus

- Nissan Gripz

- Zarooq Sand Racer

Looking at iconic cars, I think something like a Ford GT, Porsche 917K, Lamborghini Countach, I think a Countach makes a lot of sense as the kids who grew up with posters of the car could then own a buildable model of their dream car. Thus sales could spread from just Lego customers due to the nostagia

A Ford Mustang convertible or a Ford Raptor. Plenty of super cars, but what about a pickup truck?

Machinery wise, what about a helicopter with working collective, cyclic, and rudder controls.

Or another space shuttle. Even if it is simpler but has the boosters, fuel tank, and the crawler transporter. Or at least the 747 piggyback.

So whats ultimate with the porsche? just a road car with steering (very very good lookin, must say) but with a fancy box and instruction.

What about to really take the step to "ultimate" with a new light and sound system. Like working lights, indicators, and horn. Adjustable seats and steering wheel, working pedals - working clutch pedal, realistic motor sound for gas pedal and the brake pedal is linked to working calipers, and also with brake lights. And a advanced gear box where reverse light automaticaly being lit when you put in reverse... now we talking ultimate

Well, I would like all of that too, but I think that might be getting a little ahead of what TLG is capable of right now

I like everyone of those, but the main problem is I've never heard of them before, so most people wouldn't know what they are.

Also, I'll probably add a poll when we get to page 4 or 5.

I really don't think there will be another similar supercar released anytime soon... Such expensive and big sets don't make good 'collectible series' while not many people would keep buying similar models of such cost.

I don't know where the hints on technic UCS does really come from (other than few mentions that this particular Porsche model is 'ultimate', which I wouldn't take as clear hint). For me, e.g. Arocs is quite ultimate, probably more than Porsche appears to be.

Okay, if it needs to be known and legendary than I would like to suggest the Nissan Safari Rally Z (based on the Nissan Fairlady Z, aka Datsun 240Z). Would be nice if there is at least one option that is not just another supercar.

I don't know about cars but stationary Machinery like a lathe would be neat, 2 4 speed gear boxes to turn the head. Maybe could design there own sorting machine for technic parts, there's an interesting idea. And directions on how to sort other parts with different screens and operating speed.

Well they said this is he first in a new series, or something to that effect.

^ Aha alright, I found the quote already. Well it really looks like it means just cars in that context.

That's the same thing I got out of it.

Any of these would be very cool, I think the G63 6x6 and BMW i8 would be the most interesting from a technical standpoint, although everything is interesting, and I'm sure I forgot something.

I want a full-size sedan, something like Chrysler 300

Or a compact car, they could add some nice details

Guys again with all these wishes we need to consider the aspect of how iconic something is. The Porsche 911 is literally an automotive legend with over 50 years of heritage and a recognizable silhouette. I don't think something like a BMW I8 would work well here, as it is not nearly as iconic. It seems like TLG is releasing the Porsche for both Lego and non Lego fans and are trying to sell it as more of a model than a toy. Given this, if they were to design another "ultimate" supercar, the mass appeal would need to be considered again. Few cars have this appeal, so they have to choose wisely and sparingly

If they made the 6x6 I would easily pay $500 CAN for it

I think a Lamborghini Gallardo, Hurracan, or Aventador would be cool. Or a Bugatti Chiron.

I think an Aventador would be new and recognizable enough for them to put the time and money into selling them.

Please don't quote pictures unless you are referring to something specific in one of them. I've edited them out of your post. Thank you.

I'm with the people who would like to see a return to functional models. Even the really early "big car" models had more functionality than the UTC, and they had hardly any parts to use to actually build the model with. Compared to something like the 8880 the Porsche is more like "ultimate model team" than Technic.

I hope the designers can surprise us all, like with the bucket wheel. A cable car or a working boat, or a mechanically programmed cookie decorating machine. Even a new rail gauge, which might sell in giant piles to all the train people, super-accurate model people *and* the modelteam/technic people. I dunno, I'm kind of "anything but yet another car". I realise they don't sell, but that's what I want :)

If all future sets are going to be technically as primitive (bar the gearbox) as the porsche, i want none of it.

Depends.

If it's a Pagani Zonda, I'd think twice.

"anything but yet another car"

Agreed ! TLG has had a few cars, cranes & planes/choppers in the last few years but some other types of machinery have been missing as well. I really welcome their attempt on the BWE coming out in August and I think big machinery with varied functions (not yet again just some steering with HOG, doors opening & closing & fake engine w/ or without speed gear box...) is the way to keep people interested in Technic in the future !
