Asper Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 These trains train tour through the garden of Karlsruhe's palace from April to October/November - at least the steam engine. Today the "Porsche" engine can only be seen occasionally. The railway was build for the "Bundesgartenschau" in 1967. There were several trains with Porsche engines (e.g. http://ka.stadtwiki....rschelok-03.jpg). On normal weekdays the trains are run by a diesel engine (https://de.wikipedia...nbahn_SGB60.jpg) - I have to build this next. The original train has a 600mm gauge. I used roughly "miniland" scale (1:20) to build this model. More information and pictures can be found here (all in german): - https://de.wikipedia...nbahn_Karlsruhe - http://ka.stadtwiki....hlossgartenbahn For an exhibition I built a small layout together with my daughter. "Building" people is great fun! Once they return I will work on motorization. (bigger images on flickr) Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Just one word: AMAZING! It's lovely to see those vintage characters in a modern and huge diorama! Quote
KlodsBrik Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 What a gorgeous display. The vintage figures fits in perfectly. A lot of nice scenes to be disvovered here. Awesome build indeed ! Quote
bricks n bolts Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Classic, the scale works so well and I bet the kids can identify well with it as something they have seen. You've also perfected the almost lost art of building with the old figs, took me a while to spot 'grandma' at the booth - she had to be there somewhere! Quote
zephyr1934 Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 That is so cool to see the homemaker figures in a contemporary scene. That is an excellent build all around, finally a lego train set worth of the classic figures. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 You've created a wonderful scene. I think I've never seen so many home maker figures together. Quote
ShrikeArghast Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 (edited) Interesting scale choice. Really like the old wood burner. Edited May 8, 2016 by ShrikeArghast Quote
Man with a hat Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 ooh, that brings back memories. But really nice work, also on the scenery. Quote
HiFish Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Wow, that comes together realy nice. We have a similar Parkeisenbahn here in Dresden with steam engines from the 1920s, but the scale (Liliputbahn) is so weird that it would not work out in lego with figs. Love the Details on the flowers and trees (especially the bee-minifig)! Quote
Minique85 Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Very nice design. We are from the area and went around with the steam engine a couple of time. I have never seen the Porsche version though. The scale is interesting and provides great detailing, great job. Quote
