@Jeroen Ottens: I came across your project and it looks really impressive. What's the current status and when would the part list and instructions be available ?

Hi,

Instructions are in the making... But as you can imagine it takes some time, even for a instructionwizard like Legolijntje is (he is making the instructions). A partslist is not available yet, but ~60% of the parts are from the Porsche.

Fantastic!  You have a test build volunteer if you need one.

Maybe for the front wheel arch, make it thicker, like maybe two studs tall, or some sort of system based solution to obtain a 1.5 stud tall, as it currently looks too thin around the headlights.

Hi Jeroen, that's what I was hoping for :sweet:. Got myself the Porsche for Christmas and am now preparing for @Paul Boratko's Scorpion CK-R MOC. with these additional parts I should be relatively close to the parts of your DB11, I guess... I hope you will keep us informed of status and progress of the instructions.

Awesome, I am in progress of building the 42056 at the moment. This one will definately be a follow up once the instructions are available. Would love to play with the gearbox. Already had a lot of fun with the Porsche one, but the one in this car is looking very awesome!

For me, you improved it magnificently with your last update. Until then I was following this project with somewhat mixed feeling about the looks. I couldn't name what was wrong but somehow I didn't like the bodywork and the overal looks. Now I totally love it!

Btw, that grey accent rim around windows has made great impact on the looks! I kinda like it there :D It may look just as good with orange but now I would almosz vote for it to stay :D

Hi @Jeroen Ottens: Could you let me know what the lengths are of the silver soft axles you used ?

I am preparing already pending the released parts list and instructions.

BTW: could you shed some light on the expected date that the parts list and instructions would be available ?

Groeten

The silver flex-axles:

  • 2x 32235 Soft Axle 19L, Flat Silver
  • 2x 32201 Soft Axle 14L, Flat Silver

I leave the full parts-list up to Jeroen if he wants to share that now or not. After all, it's still a 'preliminary parts list'

Thank you @legolijntje ! I would really appreciate a preliminary parts list to check if the amount of missing parts is "feasible" or not. I really like this DB11 MOC...

Hi,

The preliminary partslist can be found here.

Instructions will still take weeks to be completed, with 2937 parts that is a lot of work... It can be that the partslist will change because of feedback from the testbuilders, but I expect only common parts to change, not the rare parts.

Jeroen

EDIT: Literally five minutes after I posted this I found that one gear was hitting a 5x11 panel... I'll first solve this an then put a new partslist on the web... Sorry about that.

OK, I will keep monitoring this thread for an updated partslist. Regarding the instructions: you are going to release these, right ? I am definitely interested.

Good luck with the testing & debugging, optimization and implementation into the final instructions !

Problem solved... Here is the updated preliminary partslist. Please be aware that the instructions are still not tested (even I haven't tested everything yet), so some changes can still happen. With a bit of luck the Lego bricks & pieces service will resume operation Feb 1st with the #3 connectors in orange available... I have tried to optimize to the Porsche partslist, but still 38% of the parts are not from the Porsche...

Thanks, but somehow I can't import the xml file in Excel (although this mornings list was no problem...?!?). Would it be possible to re-supply it in a different format ?

error message: "invalid file reference or one or more of the referenced schemas could not be found"

BTW: I already secured the connector # 3 parts for my upcoming build of the Scorpion CK-R MOC :sweet:

This file is a brickstock file, can you try loading it in Brickstock?

I know Bricklink and Rebrickable, but Brickstock is new for me. I'll give it a try => DONE, this worked !

(I am still relatively new to this. The Porsche I got myself for Christmas got me into it again after > 30 years...)

You can also import Brickstock files in Rebrickable Works fine too (although at the moment, Rebrickable is having a major update, so it's not working very well) :classic:

Yes, I noticed that yesterday evening the site was "read only" for a long time. But as soon as it was fully functional again, I imported the parts list and made a missing parts wanted list for this amazing MOC.

I have secured most of the parts (except for the electronics) via Bricklink already, so I hope no major changes will happen...

(BTW: @Jeroen Ottens: in case you need another test builder, I volunteer !)

No more test builders needed, I'm afraid.

That's what I assumed; It was meant as a joke...

Nevertheless, I hope the final model and instructions will be released soon.

I will keep following this thread closely :sweet:

Could you tell me how you made this missing part list? Because for the life of me I can't figure out how to get this site to simply remove all parts from this DB11 part list that are already present in a Porsche...

I am probably missing something so simple, but I don't see it and I already wasted enough time (thanks slow loading of rebrickable) on this to do it manually by now...

Edit: nvm figured it out. Or well, at least a method through custom list did the trick.

Edit2: Hmmm 91% after adding a couple of sets that I already disassembled.

@Appie: that's also how I did it. Make a custom list with the DB11 parts, and than build it. (I would go for it with 91%...).

Oh, don't worry. I will be building this.

For the people who consider building this as well. Rebrickable suggestions for additional sets is nice info for this creation. Besides having a Porsche, sets like the Claas or Arocs will bump you up from 62% to 75-76%. And if you have both and something like the 42054 you are looking at 85% or so. With the majority of the missing 15% then being system bricks, which aren't expensive or (very) rare.

Very nice renders, as always @Blakbird!
There's only a minor, minor error in the file (and thus in your cutaway render) which I noticed yesterday: the front-gear at the drivers-seat is pointing inwards, which should point outwards.
