Posted May 10, 20168 yr this was constructed in 1941 and was originally painted dark grey then a year later it was redone in white and red.the lower control station was supposedly constructed to direct operations until the tower (water tank) was finished and a farther control station put at the top. this was my first try at a building, made a change from ships, one of these things were you just want to keep adding to but dont have the space Art Deco kind of styling the up and over doors were a challenge but the work and take up much of the floor above the tower itself is about 3 1/2 to 4 ft tall there is a basement at the rear of the building so ground level had to be 2/3 bricks high and the double garage at the front is lower than ground level also looking up from the second floor control tower now for the rest of pearl harbour LOL.
May 11, 20168 yr What a great MOC! That's a really interesting choice of a subject to recreate--and that tower is HUGE! I'd like to see the rest of Pearl Harbor, too. :-) Well done!
May 11, 20168 yr Incredible model! The main tower is staggering in size, and the staircase on it looks great And the curves in the lower building are incorporated flawlessly
May 13, 20168 yr This is very impressive! I think it is just the right size. It also reminds me of Lego Island 2 for some reason that I do not know, which is nice.
June 9, 20168 yr Very well done. Would love to see the rest of Pearl Harbor. Retired Navy here, All 20 years in Hawaii. Need to do WWII version of Pearl / Ford Island. The airport on Ford Island has been closed for 20 years, runway all over grown. New military housing at the one end.
June 11, 20168 yr That is a fantastic model!! I love the way you've captured the shape of the building and the size and detail on the main tower is simply stunning!! Excellent work!!
