Perfetto!

Yup. It's kinder complifscated with all these ships and I still haven't even really figured out what's what and who is whose, so it'll take me a bit. I will try to make it as player-input driven as possible.

Indeed, we attacked no Sea Rats. We didn't even attack NPC pirates. We just went merrily along our business this month, and if a few NPCs danced right up to our escorts and we swallowed them, that sure ain't our fault!

It may be worth noting, by the by, that the predator MRCA form doesn't even differentiate between Sea Rats and NPC pirates - you have the choice to attack the various imperial nations, and the choice to attack "pirates." However, the nation of Eslandola went on no predator missions this month.

The MRCA pedatory attack choices are:

1. I am a villan of all nations, and prey on EVERYONE

2. Pirates

3. Corrington

4. Oleon

5. Eslandola

6. Any nation not listed

Wouldn't NPCs--pirates and Mardier fall under option 6? I think the #2 should be renamed to Sea Rats to distinguish between NPC and PC.

Posted

I don't think anyone in Eslandola has a problem with that.

I mean you are PIRATES after all.

So to all those discussing heavily last month: yes Sea Rats are pirates....

Jacob Nion even declares we attacked the Sea Rats this month because we captured a PIRATE ship. I can only conclude that Sea Rats and Pirates are not so different as they want the world to believe

Let's not start this again...

I hadn't considered that before; could well be the case. If so, the pirates option should certainly be renamed. I had assumed that Sea Rats and NPC pirates were being lumped together, which was part of what led to our previous misunderstanding.

All Sea Rats are pirates but not all pirates are Sea Rats...

(You will work this one out, I'm sure pirate_laugh2.gif )

Now back to business.

Ok, I lost a ship.

But why not in a spectacular way? Why "took on too much water ... sunk" ? pirate_cry4.gif

What about "was hit by the impact of an exploding underwater vulcano"`?

Why not "exploded after all-day battle with three enemy ships"?

Be careful with what you wish for - May-MCRA is coming default_laugh2.gif

Currently, I do not have a licensed ship...

Maybe I should wish for that first pir_laugh2.gif

You always can lean another ETWC ship :p

Oh wait, there are none hahaha :D

In the first list Fortune's Miskeeper is said to have cpatured 3 ships: "3A pirate Crow’s Feet captured by Fortune’s Miskeeper (SR) (Off Holder’s Rock)". But in the 2nd list Crow's Feet is not among the ships captured. Did we capture it or not?

Absolutely Fabulous was able to keep his other ship at bay with their guns...

25072137740_cca27f30d8_t.jpg Phew! Thank goodness for Alois! The only gun on this boat belongs to him, but his expertise from being in the Oleon military allowed him to fire his rifle so quickly that it seemed like we had an entire regiment onboard!

Do troops on the escorts or merchants actually decrease the chances that a ship will get taken over by a predator?

And how do you put troops on a ship? I didn't even know that this is possible. Do you write it in the modifier list?

Posted

I don't think that is an option in the current MRCA. Troops can repel a boarding party. But having troops mean you'll have to pay and feed them. Also they can take up valuable cargo space. In the age of sail, ship owners were known to sail with minimal crew and reduced the number of guns to make room for more cargo. That's why some merchant ship captain would rather surrender than battle a pirate.

Ska, like many, I became restless waiting with excitement for this last month's MRCA. Then as soon as the results came in the first thing I looked for is how my ships did and then my faction. As I was reading the entire first post it hit me like a ton of bricks on just how much work you put into this. It's difficult for me to wrap my mind around how dynamic and creative so many of the detailed results came in. It certainly helps swallowing the loss of any ships when it comes with such individualized reasoning. Thank you for putting so much time aside during a very busy time in your life to satisfy all of our anticipation.

Oooo feel the burn ETWC pirate_laugh_new.gif

Oh right! Like we don't have an unlicenced ship that is larger than your largest! pirate_tong.gifpirate_laugh_new.gif We're working on it, though, any day now the seas will be flooded with ETWC ships! pir_laugh2.gif

Come on Eslandolans, we've got to stick together at least in the main thread pirate_blush.gif

Faction leaders may put troops on vessels (faction troops are only allowed on faction owned vessels, by the way - if anyone else would like troops on their ships they must pay to raise and upkeep them themselves) by informing Ska of their intention in that regard in the leadership subforum pirate_wink.gif They support the crew in any boarding action (that is, they make the crew value of the vessel larger, so whenever the crew size is important, the troops will be of benefit).

Since it does not add a whole lot to the overall power of the vessel, however, I can't really see any private individual going through the expense of raising and upkeeping troops for just that purpose. If that were to ever happen, that member would probably have to inform Ska of it through a PM.

Bigger than the also unlicenced Margot or Pride of Elysabethtown? :D

Tell me about it. Seems I went after a fellow Sea Rat this cruise (and failed mind you) since I clicked "pirates" as one of my targets. My first thought is that I chased my own tail or something...

BTW, by my attacking a sea Rat does that now make me an Eslandolan? pirate_laugh2.gif

Actually, another action of yours was hinted at in the paper, but your captain made a wise decision not to attack a full escorted squadron with 5HAs

@Kai: Doesn't it require that the nation in question files a complaint, or is it just automaticly turned into a court case? What if we for instance don't want to risk a diplomatic incidence with mardier and therefore do not wish to take it to court?

And where should such a protest be filed? General BoBS thread, I suppose?

Some courts don't meet each month, for example Mardier will be a few months away because they just met.

Ska was tired? Sorry! I will try to be more creative with sinking ships.

If it is mentioned at all then it happened, the first list should be complete... but I feel like a few losses are missing. I have to comb the results one more time. I could have sword we lost the HMS Mars for example, but I don't see it on this list.

Do troops on the escorts or merchants actually decrease the chances that a ship will get taken over by a predator?

Yes, but faction forces can only be put on faction warships, not merchants, those have to be private. Although more crew does not help in the initial gunnery phase (MRCA 2, we will find a way to make better modifications.)

Thanks for all the hard work put into this! It definitely shows.

My one questions, if our event shows "went to Ilse de Romantica" doe we auto qualify for the free medium residence there or only if we were one of the ones listed in the article?

Thanks again!

Hmm, the Henri is about as long as the Margot I believe (including the bowsprits I believe the Henri wins by a touch, and without them the Margot wins by about the same margin), and about double as wide - but you can make that largest F if you please, haha! pir_laugh2.gif

Really? Is that why Oleon's main shipping are all faction owned? Do the ships have to be 100% factioned owned too?

If there's that benefit of troop support, then it would make sense to make more ships state owned.

Yes, you are entitled to the free residence. (when people use these, they will have to let the automation team know)

Million dollar question :p

Do we have to build an actual medium residence?
