Here is an MOC on The Odyssey, by Homer.

Odysseus has been warned by ghosts in the Underworld that should he or his crew eat the golden cattle on the island of the Titan Helios. When he passes by it on his ship, however, he is forced to land there, and is unable to leave for a week, due to storms. His crew grow very hungry, and can't find any food other than the cattle. One night, while Odysseus sleeps, the crew kill the cattle and eat them. Helios finds out and asks Zeus to kill the ones who did this. Odysseus awakes, but is too late. Odysseus and the crew run into their ship and quickly sail off. Zeus strikes the boat with lightning, however, sinking the ship. Only Odysseus makes it out.

Here it is:

The trireme:

A cloud, which Zeus sits atop:

The lightning comes down onto the helpless boat:

.. And hits one unlucky crew member straight-on:

Odysseus tries to organise everyone:

The chaos ensues:

A very awesome maxi-vig set upon some great mythology there TinyPiesRUs!

I love the lightning effect, very simple, yet very effective. It no doubt makes it a lot sturdier than other options too *y*

The cloud with Zeus is very cool too, and makes for a very awesome effect. However, I don't think him holding the lightning peice really acheives anything :-/

Zeus himself is cool though.

The action on board the ship is well thought out, and uses some clever techniques. How did you get the sheilds on the sides though? The fire on the men, and the addition of the skellie, along with the stray chicken legs and cup, make the scene very actionpacked and exciting.

Probably my only major criticisms are that the viking hull, being on such a small base, would've looked better brickbuilt in my opinion, and that Zeus could've been a little higher. However, even these are minor problems, and are based solely on my opinion.

A beautiful, well though out, and faithful scene altogether! *sweet*

Nothing to Say, but Batbrick Away! >:-)

Nice! :-D Clever way to make the lightning, quite cartoony! :-D The scene on the ship is quite nasty, in a very cool way. :-P The eyes on the Trireme are pretty ingenious. *y*

Very nice action, and great final photoshop effects *wub* *y* *y*

I love the eyes on the trireme, following the classical Greek use *wub* ; and the cast is superbe, with a very accurate Odysseus (he had red hairs and blue or dark-blue eyes, so your head is very close to it, given LEGO heads possibilities ;-) ).

The only thing I don't like to much (apart from the very-hard-to-build lightning |-/ ; maybe you could use an 8x1, instead of 8x2, plate for the last part :-$ ) is the too visible support for the lightning: could you include it in the shape of the cloud, instead of having it sprouting from its base 8-| ?

All in all, great job.

Thanks, Batbrick :-) With Zeus, the lightning piece is supposed to be another bolt that he's about to throw down on the poor Greeks :-(

About the hull, I didn't really have the time or the spare brown pieces to make one myself. Now that I think about it though, it could look quite good, I might try it out.

As for the eye, I used blue-tack X-D

Thanks. I made the lightning like that, as Batbrick and iamded said, to make the cloud sturdy and to look cartoony. But about the cloud part sticking out- I suppose I ws just lazy there :-$

Thanks again *wub*

Good job LOP! I'm still confused about how the cloud is stable *wacko*

Great job LordofPies!

*y* *y*

Thanks, but "Lord of Pies?" >:-( :-P :-D

Very well planned and executed. *y* I love it!! *wub*

How the hell did you attached the lighting to the boat? :-/

I just used another one of these. The fire supported it aswell, and it stays up very well *sweet*
