aren't death troopers a specialized branch of stormtroopers themselves?

Well... There are specialists within the specialists.

The Death Troopers from Krennic's shuttle are higher-ranked/more elite and have the shoulder pauldrons and the ammo pouches printed on their armour. Then there are 'normal' Death Troopers, without all the fancy accessories. The ones in the BP are the latter version.

So do we know yet if we are getting anymore Rebels sets after the Phantom 2? It's a very nice ship, if not a little small and it has a decent couple of figures. It's disappointing that it appears Thrawn does not have red eyes like he should and it would have been nice if he had those shoulder pauldrons. Is that piece still in production? I think the last time we saw it was in a Pirates theme. I do hope if we get another set, it comes with a new Zeb. The old one just didn't look right to me, the head mold seemed too big but chances are we'd still be stuck with that one. It'd be awesome if he got digigrade legs though! I really want to see those used in more sets. The Satyr from the CMF line and the new Gremlins Dimensions pack are the only 2 places they can be found right now, as far as I'm aware.

Also, I've really, really wanted these for awhile but especially after this latest episode of Rebels we might actually have a chance of getting...

Spoiler

DARK TROOPERS!!!

So, looking at the rumours we had for the summer, it says there's a Vader Transformation set for 30 euros. How are they going to squeeze 30 euros worth of set out of that? Literally all that scene is is just pretty much a table with Vader strapped to it. The only way I can see them making that set sell for 30 euros is by putting both Vader and Palpatine in that set. Maybe even a burnt Anakin like from the old set. While I'm looking forward to this set, I don't really see how they're going to make a set for that kind of price out of such a small scene (in terms of spectacle/size) and hope to make it sell well.

If it's like the prior Vader transformation set the table will be a little more complex, with a mechanism for lowering the helmet onto him, then tilting up the table. And a brick built med Droid. With an extra figure and a bit more room they could easily hit a $30 price point. Whether it is good value may be debated.

A black version of the new Batman utility belt would be perfect for the 'specialist' deathtroopers. Finger crossed for getting one soon.

I really don't think we will get that. All of the Lego Batman movie figures are very over exaggerated and not like the traditional lego mini figure, so I really hope lego doesnt start doing that for all of them. Detail is great, but I feel like too much is a little overbearing sometimes!!

After seeing review of 75172 Y-Wing I can say that we will have more of OT Stormies  Vents are dark blue.

Where is this review?

I am shocked that someone was able to get ahold of these sets so early... there's still more than a month until they're supposed to release! What's the point of even having a release date if stores are just going to put the sets out insanely early anyway?

Ha? It looks like they changed Cassian's facial hair from dark brown to reddish brown in that video. Really strange. It can't be lighting, it's clear the color doesn't match the color of his hair.

There are two death trooper variants. The regular one, as seen in the battle pack, and the commanders from krennics shuttle with pockets and pauldron. It totally makes sense that they included then normal ones in the battle pack, to keep some sort of proportionality between the commanders and regular guys for collectors. I'm a fan of this decision.

That Brick Ministry dude apparently has all of the Microfighters and the Rebel battle pack too. So I'd say we can expect some 720p HD images of those sets and minifigures coming from his videos soon!

The fact that nobody seems to have got hold of the Thrawn and DotF sets makes me think they might have later releases... March, maybe?

Also, would somebody be kind enough to link those reviews?

The channel is called Brick Ministry. You can look it up on YouTube.

After watching that Y-Wing build I must say it is a very tempting set, and I don't like Y-Wings very much. There are some pretty neat techniques employed in the build, particularly in the cockpit to get the shape just right. Of course the figs are a big draw.

Edit: I just watched the Battle on Scariff build as well. It's a great looking set but I feel like the figures don't justify the price point. Sure, you get variants of the 2 main characters and a couple standard Shoretroopers but K2-SO also appears in that scene so it would have been nice to include him or even an exclusive  character we haven't gotten yet like Saw Garerra or the "two-tubes" guy.

Yeah, I just poked around for it and found the reviews.

The Y-Wing set is really neat, I must say. The build looks great, and after my appreciation of the Y-Wing has somewhat gone up after playing Battlefront, I may pick this set up. That loading mechanism is possibly one of my favourite mechanisms inplemented into a LEGO set. The figs are okay I guess, not a huge draw, but they're minifigs nonetheless. The Scarif set is great, I must admit, but doesn't feel like it's worth the £50 price tag LEGO appear to have slapped on it. Maybe the set will mean more or appeal more to me after I've seen Rogue One (midnight tickets!!!) The figs there are great, but I feel like a regular Stormtrooper or Imperial Officer (this is a bunker, I'd be surprised if there wasn't an officer in charge there) wouldn't have gone amiss. 2 Shoretoopers are great, but I feel like something extra could've been added for some variety amongst the Imperial ranks.

I've given the a shot at modelling 75172: Y-wing Starfighter in LDD:

Here's the LXF File.

75172_screenshot_small.png

Obviously, there are some issues - including:

  • missing Moroff head/torso piece and backpack
  • stickers and decorations are different/missing
  • had trouble aligning some parts, so several of the Connector Peg W. Knob parts in the engine nacelles are in backwards in order to accommodate the Stick Ø 3.2 W. Holder pieces.

I cannot upload this info to the Official LEGO Sets made in LDD topic since the instructions haven't been officially released by The LEGO Group.
So, I'm posting this info here in case anyone is interested.

Cheers!

I don't know, not really feeling the build videos. Hopefully some good reviews will be written up soon. Brickset usually gets them up ASAP. I really want to see those BPs and the Phantom. I'm really looking forward to loading up on those black and white troopers.
