RetroInferno Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 (edited) That A-wing is incredible, both mini-fig and build wise! The speeder is a 100% skip for owners of the Cantina and Skyhopper. A shame... The desert skiff is okay I guess? Han's hair piece and new weequay is nice... and did Lego messed up Thrawn ranking insigna??? A 5 seconds google search shows absolutly zero instances of Thrawn sporting that rank insigna :( Also that Boba is a new fig: new hands color, new cape piece, new belt print, what appears to be additionnal dirt on the chest armor ( sarlacc goo maybe? ), beige colored pouches on the legs. And foolish me thought it was gonna be a cheap wave... Edited November 30, 2016 by RetroInferno Quote
Naijel Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 The colour of Lando is a real shame. He really should have a dark tan torso with tan arms or preferably co-molded arms that are dark tan at the shoulders and tan on the sleeves. The A-Wing looks great. The skiff is a bit meh to me. Dark tan seems the wrong colour. Was also hoping that this set would have a new Lando figure in disguise. I guess they decided to put Lando in the A-Wing set so they cut it from here. The landspeeder is pretty good. Very similar to the one from the recent Mos Eisley set though, with half the same figures. Nice to get another Tusken Raider since there was only one in the Skyhopper, but overall it seems to be too similar to very recent sets. We also still have Han and Boba in the carbonite freezing chamber still on shelves.... Overall I'm pretty happy with designs and the figures but Lando's torso and arms are a real disappointment. Darth Malgus Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 I like all 3 sets, possibly the A-wing the best. I wonder though with all 3 being recently made could they have other sets. Quote
brobert Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Aww yiss, A-wing! That is an instant buy for me, finally a set that I can be excited about. The landspeeder is a logical move, since the cantina set is retired now, but I managed to pick it up, so it's a pass. Looking at the new model, I'm not disappointed that I got the old one, there's not much difference. The minifigs are also only slightly updated as far as I see, but I don't understand why no R2... LegoFjotten Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 I would have prefer a Cloud City outfit for Lando (and the torso color is a bit bright), but overall that is a good minifig selection. Pilot & ground crew are both excellent. Pretty rare to find a set where I want all the minifigs these days! Quote

makoy Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 I'm so happy that you guys are happy that Thrawn has red eyes. Hurray! TLG didn't let us down. Also, what a surprise. That A-Wing is great and of course.... Lando! Quote
Robianco Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 I must admit the older General Lando torso seems more accurate being in dark tan and it still has all the collar, chain and rank detailing on it... the orange seems way off. As much as the head is updated the old one seems like a better option. It doesn't also seem odd that they would get the Grand Admiral rank badge so wrong. Normally I'm far more positive about sets and figures and completely understand that there will be waves that will seem like lots of repeats etc but the figure designers normally are pretty spot on with these things. I was a little put off by Wedge's green helmet colouring in 75098 but after looking at photographs of the helmet it does appear accurate so I know they pick up on the slightest thing to make them accurate but these two torsos seems to miss the mark for that lack of detail. The legs on the technician are perfect for a purist Dagobah training Luke. The rebel dark tan vest with brown shoulder straps would be perfect with them... just stick light flesh arms on and you're away. I think there's a couple of pieces on the Speeder that look new to me including the curved tile element. If they hit B&P I'll probably just pick those up to update my Cantina Speeder and leave that set out. Quote
Esvald Forceswoop Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 A-Wing is a pleasant surprise. I desperately need some Alliance ships, and an A-Wing is relatively cheap starfighter. I'm worried about the price though. If I'll have spare money maybe I'll pick up the Landspeeder or the Desert Skiff, both look okay to me, but I mainly look for military units and buildings. So, glad Thrawn has red eyes after all, definitely picking him up. Quote

My Cantina MOC is WIP until I get the best parts for each element. Probably time to hit Bricklink once it is available! :) Quote

Artizan Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 not only lando's torso is wrong, his pants should have been a light bluish color, not gray. Quote

Lando in an A-wing set doesn't make that much sense anyway IMO (and I'm fine with that). TLG have a track record of putting odd minifigs with some of their ship (like Leia in an Y-Wing, Han & Ackbar in the previous A-wing), and having some odd minifigures is a good choice compared to just including a single pilot for example. The main point though is that I want the minifigs we are missing instead of the same figures over and over again. In that regard the A-Wing set is the best of the bunch, while the land speeder and desert skiff (as expected) are disappointing. Having R2 in the speeder would mean that either the set costs $5 more, or they would probably cut the Tusken raider. As for Lando, Cloud City Lando was in a single set in 2003 and is long overdue for an updated version. Lando in the general outfit was in a 2009 set and is much easier to figbarf. So... Yay for Lando, bummer they didn't give us the version that would be the most useful. Quote
Kim-Kwang-Seok Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 (edited) I was wrong about Thrawn after all. I wonder if the pictures I saw included a figure with wrong printing. Now I think the eyes are done incredibly well. - Kanan will have an alternative face with his smile (captured pretty well). - Another picture shows the new Boba Fett with yet another "angry clone" face. - anyway, it seems that we got rid of the sand blue colours. Deathstroke77 Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Very good to hear Thrawn does indeed have the red eyes - I was scared for a moment then! Quote
Calanon Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 How did they get Thrawn's rank insignia wrong. Quote
wesker Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Just been having a browse through Brickset and it turns out the Rebel Hanger that was originally rumoured to be the Lando set is actually completely seperate from the A-Wing. Will be interesting to see if its a Home One remake or a Yavin IV set (just as long as its not another Hoth!) Quote
Mark1006 Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Nice to see Lego putting important figures in cheaper sets. I doubt Episode VIII will yield any interesting sets so these and the summer wave are all I'll be picking up over the course of the year. Particularly interested in the Duel of Fates, Yoda's little starfighter and the A-Wing, which I can hopefully pick up for under €30 at some stage (wishful thinking lol). Quote

I'd like to hold on to the hope that they are keeping Bespin Lando for an incoming awesome Cloud City set.... Quote
atlas Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 I just realised something. Thrawn is specifically advertised on the box as an 'Admiral', not grand admiral, so I guess the insignia makes sense. I'm not sure why they wouldn't design him as a grand admiral though - the phantom II was stolen and decorated after he was promoted so I don't understand why he's in the set then. Confusing Quote
Hoth Rebel Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 (edited) Prices are up on S@H. In the Netherlands these will cost: A-wing: €55! Desert Skiff: €45! Landspeeder: €30! Release is Jan 1st. EDIT: All the smaller sets are €35 as expected. The Phantom is €45. Edited November 30, 2016 by Kevii23 Edited more sets Quote
