Like I said, it's also at a crazy price in Swiss Francs, so it's not just brexit, if you calculate it, here it costs the equivalent of 47£ and some.... Quote
benderisgreat Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 I seriously don't understand why almost everybody is complaining about winter wave ! Landspeeder,Skiff and A-wing are remakes of a fairly recent sets, especially A-wing. But not everyone has 2012 Skiff and 2014 Cantina sets! I don't have either of those sets, and I'm looking forward to getting Ep 4 Luke in Landspeeder set! And sure prices are high everywhere outside of US, so stop complaining! There a separate topic about SW prices created just for complaining, use it. Personally I think this is a good wave that allows to catch up and get certain characters for cheap, and I like it! Quote

I honestly agree with you here! this wave is fantastic! im probably buying every set. yeah sure the prices are a tad high. But ain't that normal for star wars? The way I think of it you are paying once for good quality toys/displays and you get to keep these great figs that lego produces forever! If you honestly don't care much about this wave which I know there is a ton of you, just save your money for the Amazon summer wave to come. Yoda's hut, Darth Vader transformation, rebel hanger! With me buying all of the winter sets along with probably most of the summer ones my wallet is going to be gone. I am just personally glad lego is considering people that don't own these past versions of the sets! Quote

Cody Startale Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 (edited) Could the OP possibly be updated with the latest infos and images? I'd like to take a full look at everything from the new waves we know, but it's kinda hard to keep up and find the pictures with the quick discussions going on here. Not that I wanna discourage extensive discussion :) I'm just bad at finding the pictures everyone's talking about sometimes. Edited December 1, 2016 by Cody Startale Quote

For the overwhelming majority wr hVe these sets . they have not really branched out and made new sets , rather remade sets from recent waves with minor altertions. I am happy for you to get them for you collection, I just feel TLG is taking the piss a little here. BTW happy for anyone from TLG to contact me if they want a chat. I'd very much like to let them know what I think and were they're going wrong. my 10 year old is getting bored of their repeats... Quote
Mymaker123 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 I also don't understand this notion that the majority of new sets are just repeats - out of the 17 sets releasing in January, those being 4 Microfighters, 2 BPs, 3 Buildable figures and then the rest of the standard sets, only 4 are repeats (Figure scale Y wing, A wing, Skiff, Landspeeder). So 13/17 sets are original designs. So something like 76% of new sets are new designs. Yeah, loads of repeats. Quote

Borex Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Not really into the new sets. I like the fact we get Thrawn. I like that we get Carlissian (though i like the Home One version much better). The weakest set imho is the landspeeder. Then the Skiff (i'm not wowed by its look, though i like the sliding gangboard). The Skiff guard is also not the most iconic one, so we can live without him. Then i would say A-wing because of the high price. If they just added one extra figure like a new Mon Mothma, or Nien Numb (when is he finally coming??) to that set, i would say that set was epic. The three best sets are imho Yoda's ship because it is never been done before and has a movie Yoda in it. The battle with Darth Maul for its figures but also good parts (not unique ones, but stuff you can use in any star wars scene) and the Thrawn set for Thrawn and blind Kanan. Stuff i need to buy from these sets? None. Thanks Lego. (Maybe i'll try to pick up a Thrawn and that Skiff guard via BL) Quote
appiah4 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Y-Wing will be mine. Not so sure about the A-Wing, something about it just looks off to me.. Quote

Savage Oppress Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 The set with Thrawn is interesting, wondering when it will pop up for Preorder on Amazon, so I don't have to fight over it at my local Toys R Us, Target, or Walmart Quote
bootz Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 I'll skip the skiff and probably the landspeeder as well since I already have older versions, but I'm super pumped for the Y-wing and another A-wing. That one will put me at 6 A-wings in my squadron when I finally get the TIE Advanced vs A-wing set. I also can't wait to get my hands on Thrawn. This is a pretty sweet wave. Quote
Dr. Lego Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 my main question is it confirmed the the new phantom fits on the Ghost Quote
pittpenguin123 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 My wallet is in pain. The Y wing is awesome, And the Awing looks really good Quote
Deathstroke77 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 So, are you American folk not getting the new Star Wars sets in January? None of them are up on S@H for the Americans. They're up here though for Britain, except the Battle of Scarif, which might be a March release or something. Quote

So 13/17 sets are original designs. So something like 76% of new sets are new designs. Yeah, loads of repeats. As some old ghost once said, it depends greatly on our own point of view. Part of the frustration I (and perhaps others) feel is that with a new movie out every year (yay!) and two animated shows on the air, there are fewer and fewer slots for the classic/prequel trilogy sets many of us want to see modernized. So far in 2017 there are just five sets that aren’t tied to Rogue One, Rebels, or The Force Awakens… and it’s unlikely we’ll see more until 2018. Three of those five are redo’s of sets that were released in the last several years, that are readily available on eBay for semi-reasonable prices, and that arguably didn’t yet need (or receive) a new design/build. The fourth is yet another Jedi Starfighter, and the fifth is this year's Carbon Freezing Chamber ('nuff said). Consider all the sets that legitimately do need a rerelease (classic TIE Fighters/Bombers/Interceptors, Twin Pod Cloud Car, Yoda’s Hut, Rebel Blockade Runner, Imperial Landing Craft, even Kylo Ren’s shuttle); the gaping holes in the lineup (Bespin); not to mention the sets that have yet to be announced for the current movie/TV properties (AT-ACT, First Order Star Destroyer, whatever that 4-winged shuttle is in Rogue One). Several of these could have taken the place of the Landspeeder or Skiff or the umpteenth Jedi Starfighter. Personally, I think LEGO is doing a great job with the design and build of the sets they are releasing. I will happily buy the Scarif and Y-Wing sets, and possibly the A-Wing or Skiff even though I already have the older versions… at the least minifigs are mostly new. I just wish there were more to buy. On your earlier point about all the griping, I tend to agree with you. I couldn't care less what shade of the blue is used on the stormtrooper helmet’s vents, whether Thrawn’s rank insignia has the correct combination of tiny blue and red dots, or whether Lando’s vest should be creamy beige instead of sherbet orange. It is disheartening that so much of the discussion here devolves into these petty gripes, as it drowns out feedback that I think LEGO should actually hear. If anyone from LEGO really is sifting through page after page of complaints about these minuscule details (unlikely), they’re no doubt left with the impression that we’re all a bunch of misanthropic whiners who will find fault with anything. Oi, don't get all smug and cocky with me. I never mentioned OT in my original statement and besides, that's only 3/9 SW films. There's 6 more out there that are getting sets, and 3 of those have gotten original products this wave (RO, PM, CW) plus an original set from the tv show. If it's just OT sets you care about that's fine, but you haven't helped me to understand (quote - "I also don't understand...") your view, you've just made yourself seem arrogant. baxk on topic, the images do vary in how black/grey/blue those stormie vents are, but Brick Ministry's reviews seem to show them as blue.
