The engine fins are not angled on the original model and there is a slot at the front. Nothing a little mod on the engine won't fix if I'm so inclined. The Y-Wing and A-Wing are very impressive constructs other than that. Quote
Magmafrost Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 (edited) The y-wing's page is now up on S@H. At $110 in Australia for 700ish pieces, its by far the most reasonably priced set in the entire wave, being one of only two sets in the wave that isn't one of the most expensive system sets per piece that we've seen in years. Interestingly, it says " Not available in your country ". Says that on the GB page too. First time I've seen that, not sure if its actually new or not, but the other sets say "Coming Soon on 1 Jan 2017". Very strange that they're different. Edited December 1, 2016 by Magmafrost Quote

Deathstroke77 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 That should be about £60 in the UK then, I guess. If so, not bad at all, really. Is the Scarif set up, too? Quote

Just change the region and see the UK price that way, its up for every country except US and CA. Its £65 int he UK Quote
Deathstroke77 Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Don't worry, I found it. £54.99 for Scarif? Ouch. It's an alright set but I won't be paying that for it. And £65 for the Y-Wing isn't too much of a kick in the crackers, but I would've preferred £60, personally. But, it is 691 pieces, so it's still less than 10p per piece at £65, so not too bad, Quote
GryffindorResistance Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 Anyone have an idea of when the sets will be released in the U.S.? Quote
Helghan Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 2017 is a good year for Imperial fans like myself! Quote
Richpepperell Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 (edited) I've never seen that 'not available in your country' message before (showing for the Y-wing in the UK). Also, no sign of the battle packs on the site. Does anyone know - is these a confirmed release for Jan 1? Also just noticed the Rebel Alliance and Galactic Empire Battle packs are retiring soon - sets don't hang about much anymore! Galactic Empire set is already out of stock. Hoth Rebel Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 (edited) Ywing for €80. Kinda okayish I guess. Scarif set prices online somewhere? Edited December 1, 2016 by Kevii23 Quote

I'm pretty okay with paying over €100 for walkers, gunships, shuttles, frigates etc but something about paying more than €60 for a fighter just makes me nope the hell out. Quote

Yea, same but this means the set will be around 60 on Amazon.de/uk within a few weeks which makes it a good price. Quote

Well, the y-wing wasn't up yesterday, so the battle packs not being up today quite possibly doesn't mean anything. Quote
DarthHank Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 10 hours ago, Mymaker123 said: I also don't understand this notion that the majority of new sets are just repeats - out of the 17 sets releasing in January, those being 4 Microfighters, 2 BPs, 3 Buildable figures and then the rest of the standard sets, only 4 are repeats (Figure scale Y wing, A wing, Skiff, Landspeeder). So 13/17 sets are original designs. So something like 76% of new sets are new designs. Yeah, loads of repeats. I see where you're coming from, and agree with the sentiment, but that's not a convincing argument. Microfighters, constraction figures, and to a certain extent battle packs aren't true sets in many of our eyes, and even if they were, most of them would be considered repeats of normal sets. That means 4/8, or 50% of the normal sets are repeats. I don't mind repeat sets too much, although like anyone I'd prefer new ones. Skipping them allows me to save money and buy the other sets I do want. As others have said though, TLG's selection of sets to be redone makes little sense, even from a commercial standpoint. Thrawn's torso somewhat annoys me, but it doesn't ruin the figure by any means. I'm a sucker for imperial uniforms of any kind. Doesn't surprise me - General Veers' insignia was wrong for years until it was corrected in the most recent AT-AT. Is there a chance the designers were working off concept art that was wrong? Look at the picture on this page: https://www.google.com/amp/comicbook.com/starwars/amp/2016/09/24/star-wars-rebels-showrunner-really-surprised-what-thrawn-means-t/ Quote
Sion Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 The A-wing is and instant buy for me, not sure about the Y-Wing though Quote
Japanbuilder Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 (edited) Amazon Japan has 2 sets up for the Winter Wave The Y Wing is priced at 10,777 yen (roughly 100 USD) for 691 pieces. The Battle on Scarif is priced at 9,697 yen (roughly 95 USD) for 419 pieces. Looks like I'll be waiting a year in my region before picking these up but prices do change quickly so likely they will settle down or up based on what the market here is willing to pay for these sets. Aethersprite Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 Wait, the Phantom is $40?! Did I miss something? That's ridiculous - I'd expect it to be $30. And to think that you can get the Y-Wing for $60. Lego knows that between Thrawn and blind Kanan, the Phantom is gonna sell like hotcakes nonetheless. What a ripoff! Quote

The really weird thing about expecting Thrawn to pull that much weight, is that Lego's core target audience couldn't care less about Thrawn. They also apparently expect a tusken raider to pull even more weight looking at the landspeeder price (yes its less expensive but its also way less pieces). Quote

Just what exactly from the OT is there left that wouldn't be a repeat these days? For vehicles I can only think of the Tie Interceptor and some of the big rebel ships from RotJ that have never had a system scale set (there was a UCS of the Interceptor). Maybe a few locations. Let's face it - the OT is pretty much mined out with regards to TLG being able to bring anything "new" to the table. Although new versions of some sets are probably long overdue (such as Cloud City). YellowCorvette Posted December 2, 2016 Posted December 2, 2016 (edited) So the new Phantom is $40? The 2017 sets are more expensive that what I'll expecting. The sets looks very good but with that kind of price tag. It'll be a very wallet-bleeding year for me next year..... Edited December 2, 2016 by ArmstrongYong Quote

The issue isn't that repeats are bad. It's that there are others more deserving of a refresh. TIE Bomber, TIE Interceptor, Twin Pod Cloud Car, Imperial Landing Craft, Yoda's Hut, Cloud City, etc. are all way overdue for a refresh. The design and build of the most recent versions of each of these don't come close to current standards. By comparison the Landspeeder, Skiff and A-Wing had more recent releases with modern minifigs and builds. Quote
