Saw the falcon. Looks like a definitely updated version than the previous. Unlike the Death Star remake, it is definitely not the same model as before!

Now you gonna get this thread overflowing again, hehe. Picture or the real model? Mini figures?

@GryffindorResistance - Please can you provide some further details?

I've trawled through the usual sites and can't see anything; I assume you're being serious?

That's cool to know, is the cockpit construction built from preexisting parts like the 2007 set or are there new pieces involved?

Maybe you could give the guy a chance to respond before calling him a troll?

This sounds awfully harsh. Let's indeed give him a chance to respond. It's perfectly possible that he has seen the Falcon.

Please provide us with some extra information, instead of simply stating you saw it. Please elaborate on how it's different than the previous version.

I did not call him a troll, I said to treat it as a troll until we know more. No point getting all excited if it turns out to be be shenanigans. ;)

So I only saw the front cover of the box. I have no clue what minifigs are in the set, but I noticed a few things. The cockpit is no longer brick built, but seems to be a new molded area. Also, the radar dish has a new build as well. The whole falcon looks highly detailed with a lot of little pieces in light grey, dark grey, and dark red to really bring out that junky look of the millennium falcon. It looks a bit smoother as well without as many studs as the original. I have no clue if there is an interior yet. There you go!

Interesting @GryffindorResistance - thank you :classic:

Do you recall what the part count is, or any details about the box art/design/colours/background? (e.g. is it Episode IV, V etc?)

Was the radar dish round (original trilogy) or rectangular (TFA) on the box cover?

@Lobot no piece count, but the cover of the box looks similar to the UCS slave 1

So Bespin then - which would make sense given certain characters are in Hoth variants.

Thanks for the info by the way

I wonder if that means we'll get Lando and Lobot? Or perhaps they are in a certain 169.99 euro set next year?

Well we have been told about the piece count by sauces before, plus its pretty much a cert that the trans blue parts on the Ninjago ice tank are most likely the new Falcon cockpit piece, its the perfect shape :)

But why Hoth, if the Falcon is to coincide with the 40th anniversary then why Hoth and not ANH scenario? The ESB connection makes no sense to me and yet leaks have stated this.

@GryffindorResistance I don't suppose you're able to tell us where you saw this, not necessarily the very specific information, but a general idea... Was it a leaked image? A trade catalogue? Are you privvy to advance info in some way you can't fully share?

Will totally understand if you can't answer this.

I've been feeling that some further tangible info was coming, doubt we'll have to wait until Sept 1st to see or hear more! Thanks for the info you've shared already, it's very encouraging!

It seems quite logical as far as I'm concerned:

  • It should ensure that it's sufficiently different from 10179 to prevent any criticism of 'another re-release' (and appeal to current owners of the original)
  • There could be a degree of 'future-proofing' (e.g. based on the original lifespan of 10179 it's likely to be in production in 2020 to coincide with the 40th Anniversary of Episode V) so there could be another boost to sales which wouldn't be a bad thing from TLG's perspective

Totally fine either way, but could you see the engines at all from the angle on the box? Further, how large did the front protrusions look as compared to 10179?

I'm not really interested at all in getting the Falcon, since it'll be way out of my budget, but I'm intrigued as to what they'll whip up. The lack of an interior was the big criticism on the last one so I wonder if TLG has managed to take this on board and give the Falcon a good interior to go alongside its incredibly detailed exterior.

Unless the overall size is considerably smaller than the original, I doubt it.

10179 is incredibly heavy and the interior is dominated by the Technic frame which made it almost impossible to add anything else.  I'd be surprised if they were willing to risk issues with the overall stability of the model; my guess is that it will include hull plates that can be removed to access small parts of it.

I am very interested in getting the Falcon, whether or not I can justify spending that amount of money on a Lego set, is another matter

Also, all major characters in their ANH versions are currently available to some degree in the Death Star, Lukes Landspeeder, and Droid Escape, all of which are less expensive than the new Falcon's rumored price.

I don't mind that it's set in ESB, updated figures from that movie are overdue.
