ChiefPie Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 There doesn't seem to be any information on them yet, but does anyone know if we'll get two non-R1 battlepacks this wave? Just wondering as TLG have produced four battlepacks every years since 2014 and its always nice to see more troop variations (although hopefully Lego have exhausted their options for clone variants by now). Right now it looks like there will only be 2 battlepacks. There are a couple more options for clones though if they made a battlepack for them. Quote
ToaDraco Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 (edited) Wait, so Yoda's Interceptor isn't his unique one but rather a pallet swap of a normal one? That's pretty disappointing but I'm a sucker for Jedi Interceptors and my favorite color is green so I might get it. Man I love those ships. Hopefully there will at least be several improvements over Obi-Wan's, particularly with the interior. Anakin's at least had a much better interior. They both nailed the shaping though, and look fantastic together on my shelf. Wait, you said Jedi Starfighter, do you mean a Jedi Starfighter or a Jedi Interceptor because there's a huge difference. Can someone clear this up please? I'd be even more disappointed if it's a Starfighter instead of an Interceptor. Edited September 10, 2016 by ToaDraco Quote

Sir Van Lego said it's the one from season 6 and it is more smaller than Obi Wans and Anakins Inteceptor. I don't know who said it was a recolor.I meanSeason 6 of the Clone Wars Quote

DarthPotato Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 I also think the people that have seen it have only seen preliminary pictures, so its design could still change and become more accurate to its show appearance. Quote
CM4Sci Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 The Starfighter used the new 6x6 round canopy. It looked a little big? PT Yoda was also in there, so no Clone Wars head. Quote
Moshaka Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 Maybe it can't be that small so it is sturdy and detailed. Quote

Amazing Bricks Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 No that's good Exactly, I was happy to see that. Quote
joeyl19 Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 (edited) Exactly, I was happy to see that. Yeah, it's great that they realized their mistake with the clone wars heads and are fixing it. In the Lego tfa game, they converted all the clone wars heads to make them look "real," so to speak. Edited September 10, 2016 by joeyl19 Quote
Kim-Kwang-Seok Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 So to me it becomes clear that Yoda's ship will probably be a bit oversized, but therefore at least detailed (something TLG usually delivers with SW). A missed opportunity, since the size is what makes Yoda's Interceptor unique. I still don't get how this one could cost as much as the previous two, "normal length" Interceptors... About the uncertainty around here: Some people look closer for details. For some an interceptor & a JSF are not that different, while other's don't care if the imperial troopers get their orders by their Lego crewman (light grey, different uniform), or their Lego imperial officer. So if one says the sets look all the same - that may be true, froma certain point of view. Quote
ToaDraco Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 (edited) Oh thank goodness, I was concerned for a moment. His wording made it sound like it was just a recolor. It's odd that it uses the new 6x6 piece as that does seem too big but we'll see how it looks. I'm glad the Clone Wars head isn't being used, I assume it's the latest mold which looks very good. So if one says the sets look all the same - that may be true, from a certain point of view. True but the difference is an Interceptor and a Starfighter are 2 completely different vehicles that look nothing alike while the rank of an imperial minifig only means a difference in color and printing. Apples and oranges, but yeah it get's confusing when incorrect terms are used. I wouldn't be surprised if the fault in this case is LEGO's though, using the wrong term for the ship. At least the got it right the past few times. Edited September 11, 2016 by ToaDraco Quote
Aethersprite Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Klaus-Dieter said it himself that he's not familiar with Star Wars anyway; he could have mixed up Yoda's JSF with an Eta-2. On the topic of size, the Eta-2s we've gotten are a fair bit oversized relative to minifig scale anyway. It's inevitable that Yoda's JSF will end up being oversized. If it were 100% minifig scale, I doubt it can hit the piece count for a US$20 set anyway (assuming it's US$20). Quote
PicnicBasketSam Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Aw, man... I love the Clone Wars head, and I think the PT head looks horrendous. Ah well, I'm probably going to buy it anyway, I really like that ship and I've long since lost my Yoda minifig. Quote
atlas Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 I agree that face print was awful! I'd like to see Lego go back to something similar to the design they used on the shirtless polybag figure. I think that face combined with his current torso/leg design would be the perfect Darth Maul minifigure. I kind of disagree. I think the face was very good in 75096, the only problem was the mouth. Maul's eyes are a key feature of his face and they look the best in the new infiltrator imo. That face with a closed mouth would be ideal! Quote
GryffindorResistance Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Any more updates on the Lando set? Or was it a mistake?? Quote
Kim-Kwang-Seok Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 It wasn't spotted with the other prelim pictures. Could be exclusive, could be a seperate release, like BoT. Meeh. I still think the first Maul face is the best. All other versions had oversized eyes. & the face pain in general with the horn piece makes his facial features look broad instead of slender. A special molded head would be interesting for Maul. Quote
JekPorkchops Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 A moulded head would be really unnecessary. It is Lego after all, and Maul has a very humanoid head and face. 2015's Tusken Raider didn't need such a dedicated piece IMO. Quote

nikhkin Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 I think the Raider moulded head is fine since it represents a headwrap. Maul shouldn't have one. Tbh I think the spikes mould looks stupid but I can just display him without (same as Black Panther, I think it looks absolutely ridiculous) Quote

That molded head was one of the best sw molds ever I think that the tusken raider head is really overdesigned. It looks too much like a real action figure and too little like a lego minifig. Quote
JekPorkchops Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Indeed. The Tusken Raider has a regular shaped head as well , just wrapped up in cloth. The old ones were perfect, and a figure like Unkar's Brute uses cloth printing on its head as well (though he is missing additional protrusions like the Tuskens, but the 2002 ones prove that printing is good enough). I think the old tusken heads were really ugly, and most often I prefer more than less details. I like molded heads and hope that every figure that is not a humanoid will at some time get a mold, such as weequays, neimodians and niktos which at present only have head prints Quote
JekPorkchops Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Those species are so humanoid that a minifig head is proper enough. Speaking of the Tusken, the Landspeeder will probably include the 2015 version, but I wonder if there will be subtle differences. Quote
Forresto Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 (edited) The tusken raider mold really irritates me because its uneccesary and there are still iconic aliens such as Ponda Baba who have not gotten molds yet. They could have done a standard head with the horns done in the same vein as Darth Maul. As it is I still prefer my Tuskens from the Attack of the Clones sets.
