Supersonic Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 Battle on Scarif is weird. Location sets are usually overpriced (see Takodana and Jakku), but this time even the minifigs aren't that great - yes, all are technically exclusive, but the only one that is really different from other versions is Jyn, and it's still $50 for four minifigs and an extremely boring build. Meanwhile the Y-Wing has three exclusive minifigs (including the exclusive Moroff mold), a stormtrooper, an exclusive droid and a beautiful build for only $10 more. I also don't think the Y-Wing is that similar to the last one - the 2012 version had an almost rectangular cockpit section which I always thought was completely off. They seem to have fixed the shape and upped the greebling on the entire thing as well, and the price is pretty good. Quote
BorisBritva77 Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 (edited) Second minifigure in y—wing set is Admiral Raddus http://i2.wp.com/www.jedinews.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/rogueonepatch_admiralraddus_cover.jpg?fit=696%2C467 Edited November 18, 2016 by BorisBritva77 Quote
wesleydoogan Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 Interested to know if the Microfighter U-Wing's wings old back like the full scale version so if anyone has any info please let me know. Will be getting a couple of the Microfighters and Battlepacks for sure! Quote
ChiefPie Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 We figured out it was Raddus but thank you anyway because I'm sure some more people will ask. Quote
SHIFT Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 (edited) Wanted to just quickly say hey to everyone, as this is my first post, many fantastic builders and threads here on Eurobircks and i'm glad i've finnaly made an account here. To the point-i've found a hi-res photo of Death Trooper from upcoming imperial BP on polish ebay-like site Allegro: Edited November 18, 2016 by SHIFT Quote
Aethersprite Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 Isn't the Death Trooper in the BP the exact same one in Krennic's shuttle, but with a different blaster and lacking the shoulder pauldron? Or is there a difference in the torso/leg printing that I'm missing? Quote
xboxtravis7992 Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 The Y-Wing is my favorite Star Wars spaceship, and although I already own one from 2012, I might get the new one too just so I can have two Y-Wing models side by side. The new one has some differences with the 2012 one, but proportionately looks to be about the same size. Quote

No, the one from BP lacks printing of grenades, ammo pouches and let's say "tactical belt" their equipmet is mounted on.http://imgur.com/a/RcKZh Edited November 18, 2016 by SHIFT Quote

I mean even regular Stormtroopers look more detailed than this minifigure! Edited November 19, 2016 by MKJoshA Please don't quote pictures Quote

Well... it could be worse. During the Clone Wars period, we always got those ghastly bug eyes lookin' clones. Never again... I hope. Thanks for the high res image of the Death Trooper, SHIFT. I think they may look good as a group - that dome is very spherical! Does anyone else find it odd that we are getting a Y Wing in both system scale AND microfighter in the same wave?? Quote
xboxtravis7992 Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 I don't mind the Battlepack Death Troopers being more bland and simple, it gives the opportunity to build up proper ranks with the more detailed ones as commanders and the simpler designs being the lower ranking troops.I imagine though that all Death Troopers are high ranked than the run of the mill stormtrooper though... ChiefPie Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 I like that there are death troopers without the pauldrons and ammo pouch. More plain then the others. Quote
BorisBritva77 Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 Did anybody notice that Moroff has a new weapon? Or it is just usual black pistol piece with another piece? Quote

I really wish Lego would make new blasters some time soon. Quote
Joemmo Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 Both BPs look like definite buys to me and it's good they both come with vehicles, not random turret type things. I'm not wild about the series 4 Microfighters but I've collected most of them so far so will no doubt pick them over the year. Interesting that this wave nearly all have stud shooters instead of flick missiles. Speaking of which, I am definitely taking those off the Micro Y-wing... They just look wrong where they are. Quote
JekPorkchops Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 Really like the fact that the Y-wing finally has an accurate print for its cockpit. I also like the openings on the ends of the stripped-down engines, as those have always been closed in the past. I think I like the greebling on the back of the 2012 version more, but this new one has great greebling on the mid-section. I do think the almost square-ish cockpit of the last one was spot-on and this cockpit doesn't look as good around the yellow bits. I expected spring missiles in the wings but they aren't included, even though they are perfect for a Y-wing. The new bomb bay opening also looks a little weird, as you are now required to put the bombs in a 3-stud long opening that is offset to the right of the ship. The previous one was better integrated, though the bombs had a slight chance to fall back out. Great minifigs though. Quote

wesker Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 I don't mind the Deathtroopers are less detailed than the ones in Krennic's Shuttle. It makes more sense to army build the standard infantry ones over the specialists. I'm more disapointed the Stormtroopers still use the plain black hips. They look outdated and not up to the same standard compared to the Force Awakens/Rogue One troopers. The Y-Wing turned out better than I was expecting. Love the more accurate cockpit printing and greebling detail. Admiral Raddus being included is a pleasant surprise too. The Battle of Scarif is fairly underwelming but should be easy to moc up. Would have preferred an actual bunker included like the Battle of Endor set rather than just a door. Quote
Krulis Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 Brickset has pictures of all sets: http://brickset.com/article/24652/2017-star-wars-sets-revealed! New Phantom is perfect (blind Kanan and Thrawn ) Quote
benderisgreat Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 (edited) Even more out of the box pictures of all January 2017 sets have surfaced. I love new Phantom! Kanan has new hair/mask mold and it's awesome! It's hard to take a better look at Thrawn minifigure, but he looks good on those pictures. Duel on Naboo is a huge disappointment! The structure is weak, although it resembles that scene from ep I . I wish it was bigger to better represent the scene in the scale of Death Star Final Duel. Minifigures are ok, it's a shame that no minifigures have capes, and Maul still uses creepy face. I still want this set though , since I don't have Qui-Gon and Ep I Obi-Wan. Scariff set look even better with hidden compartments and extra blasters! Overall it's a good wave, but not great. Edited November 19, 2016 by benderisgreat Quote
wesker Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 The Phantom looks awesome! Love the new Thrawn minifigure and its great to see Kanan comes with a molded visor instead of just one printed on his face. I'm disapointed none of the minifigures have been updated for Duel on Naboo. Qui-Gon is perfect as is but Maul really needs a better face while Obi-Wan is 18 years overdue for a proper hairpiece. Definitely a missed opportunity. The set itself looks like a bit unfinished but it should provide a solid parts pack to customize a better one. Yoda's Interceptor looks better in the new shot although doesn't quite seem to be as good value for money as the previous Jedi Interceptors. The lack of new characters outside of Rebels/Rogue One is also a massive disapointment this wave. Quote
Aethersprite Posted November 19, 2016 Posted November 19, 2016 The new Phantom looks incredible. An absolute must-buy. The storage crate suggests that it has some interior space! Sad that the Y-Wing pilot doesn't have a molded visor, but everything else about the set is perfect! Yoda's JSF looks much better in official pictures. I'm slightly disappointed that the wings can't fold in all the way, but this will have to do. Duel of the Fates looks pretty good in terms of the build - shame Maul has his smiling face, though.
