Kendo12 Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 Hi, I wanted to add some lights to some of my builds, I have a couple PF lights but they seem expensive. What other lights can be used with Lego PF? Quote
syclone Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 (edited) On Sariel's channel there are reviews of Lifelites an Brickstuff Those are alternative lightning systems I know Edited May 27, 2016 by LXF Quote
TheNextLegoDesinger Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 I saw those lifelites and they look really good. They also have led strips so you can use them as neon. I think if you wanna pay for LEDs that's what you should take Quote
SevenStuds Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 While Lifelites and Brickstuff are excellent alternatives if you are looking for different effects and a compact setup. However, if you find standard PF lights expensive, you could look into wiring up your own using RC or CAR LEDs. The lights will cost you about 2 euros, but if you also have to consider the connectors and crimping tool to apply them if you want neat connections. Hope this helps. Quote
nerdsforprez Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 I have used lifelites before and found them to be excellent. Customer service is very good as well. I once had a problem with one of my purchases and they sent me another - no questions asked. They lights, wires and connections are fragile however, something that should be expected when working at such a small scale. Quote
dr_spock Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 If you find PF LED expensive, Lifelites and Bricklites aren't exactly inexpensive either. Making your own with inexpensively sourced LEDs would be a minimal cost option. Don't forget to calculate current limiting resistors. Quote
arshiaIQ Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 Common 5mm LEDs fit perfectly and tightly into technic holes... you would just struggle a bit at the first. You can solder wires to LEDs also... Regular LEDs + a Resistor wouldnt be expensive, comapring to Lego prices... they also give a reasonable amount of light (Lego LEDs are so dim IMO) Quote
Koenta Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 LED's are cheap and connected to a 9V power supply you can use a 470 Ohm resistor. Quote
legosamigos Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 I would like to use some LEDs to my Coca-Cola truck, but I`m afraid, that it will be difficult Quote
nerdsforprez Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 I would like to use some LEDs to my Coca-Cola truck, but I`m afraid, that it will be difficult Why exactly? Tight fit? That is pretty much the reason for any LED system in LEGO. But as you can see from other creations..... that is the whole point of the thing. It is possible. Quote
Kendo12 Posted May 30, 2016 Author Posted May 30, 2016 Thanks, I might get experimenting with those LEDs. Some prewired ones have built in resistors so that would make things easier Quote
