OriolesFan957 Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 Hi, I am building a tracked all terrain vehicle, wondering if anyone knows about suspension for tracked vehicles. I also need to know how to upload pictures. Quote
Myers Lego Technic Posted May 30, 2016 Posted May 30, 2016 You can just use a simple method whic utilizes lift arms and small elastic bands. I attach the lift arm to a pivot point, and insert the track hub on one end. On the other end of the lift arm, past the pivot point I insert an elastic band atached to a secure location, to force the other end of the lift arm down, that being the end containing the track hub, that the track will flow along. When the section of track that the track hub governs goes over an obstacle, it will force that end of the liftarm up, pulling against the elastic band which will try to pull its end of the liftarm back up which will lower the other end, the end contains the track hub, to its original position. Sorry if this confused you, and I would insert a picture but all my pictures are to large for the downloaded to handle. Quote

JM1971 Posted May 31, 2016 Posted May 31, 2016 (edited) The best tacked vehicle I've seen is Trax, there are links to a ldd file from the video, there are posts on this forum about Trax but the search only goes so far back. Edited May 31, 2016 by JM1971 Quote
TheMindGarage Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Torsion-bar suspension could work well if you lack shock absorbers. You will want to adjust the length of the torsion bars depending on the weight of the vehicle and the number of road wheels - the greater the weight per road-wheel, the shorter you want the torsion bar to be.
