Fulcrumfan91 Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 I must be the only one looking forward to Pohatu. Nope, ive been patiently waiting for him to be reviewed for two weeks now. Quote
VBBN Posted December 17, 2015 Author Posted December 17, 2015 Tomorrow I'll be dropping his review as promised. I'll be seeing Star Wars tonight after work so it's doubtful I'll be getting anything up, but if I do it'll likely be Akida. And glad to see these are starting to show up in some places for people. Kalhiki Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Yay! Glad to hear Pohatu's coming up soon. He's been the one I'm interested in the most. Not because I think he looks great, but rather because I can't decide if he's great or terrible. Pictures make him seem lackluster, and Pohatu's my favorite Toa, so I hope a review will change my mind. Also cool to see these sets showing up in places. I'll probably go to some stores after I see Star Wars this weekend. Maybe I'll get lucky! (even though I haven't decided who to get first...) Quote
Fulcrumfan91 Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 I'm not sure why people keep putting Uxar's feet on Lewa's shoulders, they are supposed to fold down to become a fourth set of wings Actually, the comic on the back of Lewa's box has Uxar's legs wrapping around his shoulders and waist. Just noticed that. Quote
Dorek Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Got my Pohatu review up! Be careful what you wish for... Quote
MakutaOfWar Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 Well, his mask is a step up from his Master version, and the tan looks nice, as well as the Technic(problem?). Everything else, not so much. Quote
Shakar Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 (edited) Wait, is that tan (Vorox, Grievous) or dark tan? We have more parts in tan, but dark tan looks way better coupled with dark orange. So I hope it's the latter. Nevermind, it's dark tan, it's clear when compared with the tan o+ pin. All is well. Pohatu has a lot of problems, but I like him better than the boredom that was Master Pohatu. Edited December 17, 2015 by Shakar Quote

Aethersprite Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Pohatu's mask is one of the most Nuva-esque, his circular eyeslits especially. Everything else, though... He needs more brown! He's my favourite of the smaller Toa (that is, if you count Kopaka as a $20 Toa), but I still don't like him enough to get him. It's nice to see more (dark) tan, though, and thank goodness he doesn't have a silver torso. Quote
YellowCorvette Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Thanks for reviewing Pohatu! I still love his mask, but Pohatu should have more brown in his armor. The Vorox armor on Pohatu's shoulder looks great from the front, but from behind or side....... not so much. Quote
Kalhiki Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 2015 Pohatu was better... This one... A poor weapon, weird shoulders... Not a fan. And those colors. Dark tan shells are nice to have, but combined with Pohatu's silver, they just cause the overall figure to look really pale. The brown of the 2015 set would've been much nicer to have. Quote
Bigger Fish Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 As much as I like the new torso armor, there's just something about the proportions that just seems off about them. Quote
Dr_Chronos Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 German catalog showing the 2016 sets, could anyone provide a translation of the main description? Quote
CloverMaryam Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) poor google translation gives me this : "Help the Toa , to unite with the creatures the elements to win the battle against the evil and secure the golden mask of control! You can use the Toa with any creature combine and completely new , unique forces created will decide the fight . the robust models for intense play with fearless action . together form the Toa and the creatures an unstoppable force !" Mostly what I got. I roughly translated it, the stuff in parenthesis is the words I'm unsure of: "Help the Toa to unite with the creatures of the elements in order to win the battle against the evil and secure the golden mask of control! You can use the Toa with any creature combine and (create?) completely new, unique powers. The battle (is yours?) to decide. The (robust models handle) intense play with fearless action. Together, the Toa and the creatures an unstoppable force!" Quote
wghost Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) Here you go: Help the Toa to unite with the elemental creatures to win the battle against the evil and seize the golden Mask of Control! You can combine the Toa with any creature to create completely new and unique powers that will decide the (outcome) of the battle. The sturdy models allow for an intense play with fearless action. Together the Toa and the creatures form an unstoppable force! Edited December 18, 2015 by wghost Quote
MakutaDreadscythe Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Just looked on the UK LEGO shop, they have Tahu, Gali, Onua, Kopaka and Umarak as coming soon with descriptions and prices. You'll be pleased to know that the smaller toa have been reduced from £13 to £10! I'm gonna guess that creatures are priced at around £8 but we'll see. Quote
CloverMaryam Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) all of the sets are up on the US shop@home unable to be purchased until jan 1st Edited December 18, 2015 by CloverMaryam Quote
Iben Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) I'm actually quite surprised to see Gali at €17,99 on the Belgian Shop. I didn't really see that coming especially as the smaller sets were €14,99 last time. And mostly because the other regions have it around the same price category as well. -Iben Edited December 18, 2015 by Iben Quote
ToaDraco Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) Yeah once again Pohatu is my least favorite of the wave. His colors look awful and unbalanced, his weapon is pathetic and he looks so bland and uninspired. At least his mask is a major improvement over the horrendous block-cheeked mask this year. They should have left out the tan and replaced it with more burnt orange, The shells on the arms should be bigger and not in trans lime and they should have stuck with a flail and ditched the blade piece and the upper arms are thin and a poor attempt at being creative with the parts when Kopaka and Lewa do it so much better. That's all just to make him an OK set, not a great set as he would still suffer from genericness without a complete redesign. Edited December 18, 2015 by ToaDraco Quote
Logan McOwen Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) I don't like the new mask. Much less chiselled than the last. The set it's attached to isn't that bad, but it's certainly not very Pohatu-esque. More burnt orange instead of dark tan would've made this a lot better. Fulcrumfan91 Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) I love Pohatu. Love the crazy colour scheme and I understand the designers' ideas with this one. I appreciate what they're going for with him, though I do believe he could be a little more improved. I'm not as big on the arm construction, but it doesn't bother me so much that I'd pass on him. Simple build, great looking weapon for a waste lander, desert camouflage....and lovely mask. They got the mask perfectly for him this time around. Can't wait to add him to my collection! Logan McOwen Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 The arms are Pohatu's weakest points for me. Not only is the shoulder build really dodgy, but the lower arms look so incredibly out of place. Some dark tan or burnt orange armour there would've been a darnsite better. Quote
GK733 Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 (edited) I actually quite like Pohatu, but in general it feels like he tries to be too too many things. I would had appreciated more of the mad-max warrior type and less of the elemental theme. It's not the colorscheme that really bothers me and I do agree the mask is maybe too feminine, especially for a guy like Pohatu. But I also think Pohatu is the one working best as an "upgrade" He mostly remains the same as opposed to all the others who changed rather dramatically on some aspects for the worst. Dorek Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Got my Ketar review up! Not a fan of this one, although the gear function is neat. Quote
