Not sure how to word this but -

you guys should be able to get these at the same time the new SW wave, which is about now, because they are all currently being.. produced, shipments, what not. Where did this guy get these?

So... They're out? Sorta? I don't know where he got them. Only skimmed through the reviews so I don't know if he mentioned it. I guess it could be one of those cases where a store puts out stock before their supposed to.

I'll be out and about tomorrow after seeing Captain America. I'll report back if I find anything.

He ordered them from Toysrus, when they were still up for purchase. This happened with masters last year too and they had to deliver.

I suggest keeping an eye on his channel as it's likely he'll stay as the only owner of the sets for even weeks.

Ekimu looks... safe. Safe as in there isn't really anything interesting about his design, and he seems kinda gappy. Now, that Umarak mask is flippin' amazing, and now I want to replace my Umarak's trans-bright green with trans-neon orange from Uniter Tahu... but this model is just meh. :def_shrug:

That function is fascinating, and his design isn't 100% bad. Sure, black Technic would've been better than light grey, and sure, chunkier arms would've been nicer, but all the same I can't say I'm too upset with Storm Beast. I'm still gonna get two copies for an even number of dark blue parts.

My opinions on Ekimu haven't changed that much, but I think he actually looks better in that review. He's kinda safe, but overall he just looks fantastic.

Storm Beast is a little disappointing now that I've seen him in the video. I still like him, but not more than Ekimu as of right now. While I accepted this at first, he looks even messier now in his construction. Still, I think the sacrifice of aesthetics is justified, as his function is very unique (though, again, not as good as I had expected). I guess there is still his wonderful color scheme...

I do really like Storm Beast's function, but he looks pretty bad. Still, I might just buy him and modify the actual action figure-y bits into something better-looking, because the tail thing is mesmerizing.

Is this guy going to do Quake Beast soon?

Not at all.

It wasn't listed on the site when he grabbed these.

But he did say he will review Umarak The Destroyer during the weekend

Man... That function. I'm tempted to get him just for that.

Actually, if I get any Beast, it'll be him. He looks decent, and has a cool function as well.

El oh el! That's exactly what I thought! Nice to know there's other similarly compulsive people. "Hmmm an odd number of shells? Screw Bricklink, I'm just getting two sets!"

Storm beast looks better than I thought and the function is great, though it's unfortunate pose-ability had to be sacrificed. I don't mind the open sockets on the hands but the upper arms just look awful. That crystal armor just isn't enough to cover those long beams. I'ts also unfortunate his head can't be moved up but that torso build is something else. I'm really looking forward to UtD when he posts it.

They're not supposed to be out technically......do check local TRUs in the next few weeks, and I'm sure they'll be popping up.

Also, regarding the reviews, the person who has conducted the reviews of the three sets does not have Quake Beast....Umarak should be coming out in the next day or two, however.

Also, I think Storm Beast is pretty interesting...he does look like some kind of a sea/land creature with the trans neon green working well to pull-off a mucky poisonous slime. I think Lava Beast is awesome and am really starting not to care as much about his weak torso construction. Ekimu I sitll like quite a bit.

Lava Beast looks like a roast chicken, while Storm Beast looks like a humanoid crocodile, like Crocodile Lizard from Spiderman or Killer Crocs from Suicide Squad.

Quake Beast? Just a deformed Onua

Yeah, I figured. So it was no surprise that I found nothing at TRU yesterday. It's all good, though. I'm in no rush.

And one we've all been waiting for: Storm Beast!!

This reviewer's lack of mechanical comprehension, and eager admission of it, and apparent ignorance of the existence of the word "uppercut" astounds me. "Oh boy this simple exposed linkage sure is the most ponderous thing... I expected it to go this way, but then it went that way! That surprised me for hours, oh my, lemme tell you. Oh I thought you punched him in the front of the mouth, but you gotta give him a, oh, like hook him behind the jaw. Yeah, a hooked weapon under the jaw."

Also the bleached out picture...

This is why I watch lego reviews at 2X speed and muted.

Enough disparagement though (and I hope this isn't someone here), on the this year's sets topic:

Who here pays attention to the orientation of the butt gears? I put together 3 toa and umarak before I realized on toa #4 "oh wait, I was putting these on uncaringly, hey instructions do a perfect X while facing forward"

Well I recently got Tahu, Ikir and Kopaka Melum Unity set. I loved building the sets and the creatures are fun to mess with. The toa seem too thin to me by themselves, and Kopaka's shoulders bother me. However while the unity modes are cool, I just can't get behind Kopaka's. The shoulder articulation while already hindered becomes even more hindered, and the creatures heads not clicking on the toa's masks just bothers me when moving their heads around.

Has anyone done a photoshop of Umarak replacing the trans green with trans orange?

Huh, a swap of 7 ccbs elements and 12 studs in addition to the mask? Hadn't thought about that. I don't photoshop but I see the appeal of a quick pre-viz of that.

Link just takes me to flickr's homepage

I'll try embedding it, hopefully it's not too big as I am on mobile.
