I really actually like the new boxes. Lots of nice character art on them.

I like the new boxes for being stackable, for taking up very little space in comparison to canisters, and for being recycleable. There's also lots more room for great boxart, and them being made of cardboard means there's more room in the budget for more parts in the sets.

Yet another review of Lava Beast....there seems to be something wrong with the video, but for those who want to see Lava Beast in a different light, there you go! It's also not the best review out there.... I'm guessing we should be seeing some official reviews from the likes of BZP and BS01 fairly soon.

Also, someone on BZP's forum also shared a story similar to a few others here on this forum that Lego was pulling Bionicle sets off of shelves and making them online-only or something. I'm surprised that none of the sets have really shown up yet...I'll do some hunting today and see if I can find any.

Speaking of boxes, what's up with Constraction boxes anyway? Ever since Slizers they've been weird in comparison to other Lego boxes. Slizers, RoboRiders, Bionilce all had canisters. Hero Factory had bags. Bionicle G2 has Hexaboxes. Is it just tradition or are they like that to stand out on the shelves?

They are action figures.

Not vehicles, playsets etc.

But I guess it just became tradition and it would be alienating to take it away. Though then again all the ultrabuilds use boxes but Chima adopted the HF pouches.

Standing out on store shelves is a big part of it. The original canister designs for Throwbots and Roboriders were actually designed with the idea that they could be dispensed from vending machines (though that idea didn't end up being put into practice in the end). Additionally, the fact that they are action figures generally makes vertical box/canister designs more practical than the horizontal or square boxes that are more common for other Lego sets (since an action figure is taller than it is wide, while most vehicles and other structures common to other themes are wider or longer than they are tall).

In terms of the new boxes, they're not really alone in having unique designs. "Gimmick" sets in other themes (like the Speedorz, Airjitzu spinners, and Nexo Knights "Ultimate" packs) also often use atypical folded cardboard boxes, and pretty much all of Lego's "girls' themes" (Elves, Friends, and Disney Princess) use boxes with beveled corners.

Yeah...I'd have to agree with this. The other reviews have been done at least a month before the release of the sets (or weeks before).

The sets are already available in rozetka, including Umarak. So, maybe Umarak is June's for Europe and July's for US. The sets should come to most of Kyiv's toy- and lego-shops on Wednesday, so, if I'll have time, I'll post some photos of Quake beast on Wednesday(Wednesday for me) Edited May 16, 2016 by dimaks13

Long ago I was roving along the internet and found release dates for them. I know 3 characters are going to be realeased in June, and the rest July. I'd take a (RANDOM) guess and say the Beasts are going to be realeased in July, and Ekimu and Umarak in June. (P.s. I forgot the website.)

I have some news! So I called a TRU in Canada inquiring about the summer sets and according to them, these sets are due to be released in August, not June or July....take that in any way you want, but someone has made a mistake somewhere.

Edit: TRU are odd....I called a Lego store and the summer wave should be released on June 1st as expected...however, I was told they will not be available in all stores...only a couple of larger locations and online. Also, they said another set will be released after that...but I could not get any details about it as they themselves did not know anything about that other than it was being planned for reelease. I don't know if they meant Umarak or not, but this is the info I got.

This is just me jumping into dump conclusions but could it be possible that they release Makuta this year and just wrap up the line? Or do you just mean Umarak's July release?

Wasn't this the case with some of the Hero Factory sets that some of them were meant to release a bit later but despite that they all released at the same time?

I would be disappointed if that honestly were the case because I'd love to get at least one more wave of Toa....but I would not be surprised if that happened.

Rumors of a sixth summer set? Even if it's for a sudden finale, it's cool to think Lego expedited something for it. If it's a large Makuta set with the two Legendary Mask we haven't got yet, I'm game.

A post-Summer set....huh.

In a way, it makes some sense, since the 2016 lineup is one set smaller than the 2015 one. But I can't help but feel worried- the more special the set is, the bigger the implication they want to wrap up the line will be.

They said they have no info on it. Maybe it's that MoCr+cape polybag, or a special recoloured mask like the trans. orange Hau Mask of Fire. But I don't know if those TRU people count those as sets (technically, they are, but..).

As an Ambassador, could you ask Lego about the state of the theme ? I don't know if they would be able to answer, but some official clarification would be nice anyway.

Remember, in New York toy fair it was reported that Umarak The Destroyer would come out in July, unlike the rest of the sets. That is probably what they referring to when they say one set will be released later.
