Bionicle 2016 Sets Discussion

I would VASTLY prefer entirely new designs to slight variations of already existing weapons. Although the most recent 'leaks' turned out to be fake (no surprise here) I would definitely love some blended weapons or at least some trans and/or element colored weapons. Having a ton of silver and gunmetal weapons is irritating and boring. Kopaka was the only Toa to get non metallic weapons. At least Tahu had fire pieces in his, I guess.

Now, I'm just hoping Umarak has a bow and a melee weapon of sorts. Was excited about one of those fakes claiming he/she had a transforming weapon, made Umarak sound almost technologically advanced in comparison to the others. Hm, oh well time will tell.

I also hope that Umarak will have both a ranged and a melee weapon but instead of a bow maybe some sort of hunting rifle? He is a hunter and some form of hunting rifle would suit him I think. Maybe something like the shooter that the new First Order Stormtrooper has but with some added pieces to make it look more like a rifle.

On the topic at hand, I can't decide whether I want Umarak to be a tribal hunter or a technological hunter. Maybe a Victorian hunter would be fun.

That's a good idea about Umarak. If Skull Warrior can afford two weapons at his price point, surely Umarak can too. I just hope his weapons aren't TOO complex, that would take away pieces from his body just like what happened with Fluminox and Fangar last year.

Well, he's an hunter so his melee weapon could be a short sword or a spear (possibly recycled from one of the Toa sets), while I can definitely see him reusing the Protector minigun in a new build like Warrior and Ekimu do.

I just hope he looks good as the first proper larger villain, Kulta looks cool but I need more meat y'know. I wonder if they'll take any inspiration from Core Hunter.

Than people complain about the Technic function 'breaking the aesthetic'. For real though, I'm really hoping that the creatures are creative Technic-CCBS fusion builds like LoSS and Skull Scorpio, even if people will complain about them.

However, Nekchir's "unifying element" lie gave me a thought: what if the Unifiers and/or the Creatures's new collectible item (assuming they have one, that is) is something that can be combined, like the Makoki Stone, or the Nuva symbols/cube, or the Golden Bionicle Armor from G1?

Of course Star Wars always hogs all the attention, and f*** all the other themes, especially that constraction crap that isn't even real Lego anyway.

I don't get why everyone wants elementally coloured weapons. Those are the worst to MOC with AFAIC. Kopaka's white shield was fine because that piece already existed in silver and shields do usually match the warrior's armour colour. But weapons in general should be versatile as possible. I'd rather keep the elemental motif to additional parts you can decorate the weapons with, like the flame pieces and the Bohrok eyes.

Has he shown any pics? If he hasn't, then remember Nekchir's bs and take it with a grain of salt. I guess we'll just have to imagine the leaks till october

It depends on the employee, really. I remember when back in 2007 a seller at one of my local toy stores showed me the catalog with 2008 winter sets, and didn't really have anything against it when I asked for it. But then not every seller would want to do that because of all those policies regarding preliminary pictures. So yeah it's possible but not something the employee would do for sure.

Can you divulge the source? And do we have any additional context; i.e. are these summer sets, or could we be getting a larger range of sets next year?

For what it's worth, the Lego shop method of verification does work for these sets (apart from 71315 since we don't know the set name). So these are the real deal, but I'd still like to know more if at all possible.

Where did you get these names?

If those new names are legit, then it speaks well for the Bionicle theme's success, since it would mean a considerably bigger wave for the first half-year than this year's. (17 sets instead of 13). I'd prefer to know the source before I speculate on them, though, since they are the sorts of names and numbers that a person could easily make up.

EDIT: I've been told that the LEGO Shop method of verification works for them, so I'm ready to believe they're legit.

If these are true I guess the Lava Beast/Storm Beast are the box names for Uxar/Akida, all the creatures basically. Like with the Protectors instead of putting their actual name on the boxes. And I like The Destroyer better than the hunter. Cliche? Perhaps but to me it sounds cooler and more evil than The Hunter.

The only thing that has me suspicious is Ekimu. Maybe it's a summer set but it will certainly not be with the winter wave creatures and Uniters.
