mysteriouspi Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Yeah, you.. you got it. Where do you think I've been getting everything? Haha, whoops. I figured you didn't obtain all these names from URL guessing or similar. My bad everyone. Quote
MakutaOfWar Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 (edited) 1000 comments here and we haven't even got set pictures or story info. That's crazy stuff right there. I guess we can blame the nekchir fiasco for quite a bit of the traffic though. Also, is the next book called 'Revenge of the Skull Spiders'? What if the creatures contain a mask and a Skull Spider next year? A bit lame but who knows. Edit: Had my first CCBS socket break. ;-; I'm scared. Especially since it's a silver hand, which are being used quite a bit in 2015, and 2016-17 will most likely follow. Edited September 10, 2015 by MakutaOfWar Quote

I'm leaning toward spinoff. Although if the creatures did have a SS Mask I hope they will at least be different colors. How exactly did you break the hand? Quote
Frozen Assasin Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Funnily enough, I've wanted to make a drill like that as part of an Ideas project. All you really need are a good setup of joints and a couple of hair brushes to get a reasonable approximation. As in movable teeth made from 4m limbs, hunched over and sticklike proportions, sickly colors that called to mind the sort of plants that smell like rotten flesh (amongst other things, keetongorange and normal yellow were mixed) and my mind automatically doing the horror movie style "darkening the edges of my vision" bit. I'm fairly used to that sort of thing, though, but I figured that's what other people would find most disturbing about the dream. Personally, I found the almost sack-like bulging purple back made from 4m shells that Onua had the most disturbing part. I think I have GK733 to thank for that bit, because I've been looking at his Cave Crawler a lot. OMG. Please, say that I'm not a freak if I really want such sets. Just imagine the construction ! Scarilian Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 All this talk about Umarak will make all of us terribly disappointed when leaks will happen. As a betrayed master once said, "I've got a bad feeling about this". Thoughts; True, Umarak the Hunter is only $20 and expecting a really good set of him will likely leave us disappointed; Umarak the Hunter ($20) could probably be intended to just be a 'LoSS' of the wave, a character likely added on so we'll get the villain in the first wave. I could honestly see him turning out to be a black version of 2015 Kopaka with a new mask and a bow - as that is the price range we are looking at. Umarak the Destroyer is probably the definitive version of the character judging by the list we had. I personally cant view any of the others being given the 'big set' price range. This will probably be the version everyone will want to get and they'll throw in a rare mask such as the Mask of Control to convince those who got his 'Hunter' variant. This is probably the one we should be hyping about, though chances are we wont see this set for a while so hyping over it is a little less rewarding. I still want to see the Toa with giant, Hordika-style weapon arms. Recently saw these fan created concepts, and i think some of them give off the vibe your are on about. Quote
Kalhiki Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Recently saw these fan created concepts, and i think some of them give off the vibe your are on about. Wow, those are slick! Would not mind at all if we got anything close to that (though some are pretty radical: farthest right Pohatu and four armed Lewa are kinda throwing me). Quote

Vinyl Scratch Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Recently saw these fan created concepts, and i think some of them give off the vibe your are on about. Far right Onua reminds me of Titanfall. Seeing stuff like those makes me wish some wave with futuristic streamlined Masks, at least for a single wave, something simple and smooth. Quote
Shakar Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 I know many might disagree, but I actually want the Uniters sets to look very different from the Masters, ESPECIALLY as far as their masks go. I really want new designs to draw inspiration from, and we desperately need new masks compatible with the new head that don't look obviously evil, like the Skull masks do. The Toa masks are just too iconic and tied to their wearers, the MoCr is too special for normal characters, and the Protector mask alone doesn't cut it. Same for the weapons, though they're needed to a lesser extent. Quote
Fulcrumfan91 Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Recently saw these fan created concepts, and i think some of them give off the vibe your are on about. Oooooh these are really cool. For the gold one, which I can only assume is Ekimu, I like the fourth one on the far right. Tahu: 4th, far right. Pohatu: 4th, far right. Lewa: 3rd, right. Onua: 4th, far right. Gali: 2nd, left. Kopaka: 2nd, left. I prefer Kopaka's current design though to that one. Quote
Aanchir Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 I know many might disagree, but I actually want the Uniters sets to look very different from the Masters, ESPECIALLY as far as their masks go. The Toa masks are just too iconic and tied to their wearers, the MoCr is too special for normal characters, and the Protector mask alone doesn't cut it. I don't see how new Toa masks would be any less tied to their wearers than the current ones. Unless you meant it could free up the old masks for new characters, with the new ones taking their place as the de facto faces of the Toa themselves? Still, I don't know how well that would work. That'd be sort of like giving Darth Vader a new helmet so you could use Darth Vader helmets on ordinary Stormtroopers. Giving the character a new appearance doesn't somehow make their old appearance less indicative of the character — it just becomes indicative of the character at a previous stage of their life. You could always write it into the story that Ekimu starts making and distributing masks based on the Toa's original masks to honor them, but that would work just as well (perhaps even better, actually) if you didn't give the Toa new mask shapes, and just started giving new characters the same masks in different colors. Quote
TwistLaw Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 I guess it's more of a matter about how few masks we currently have to create "good guys". If the Toa are about to receive new and radically different masks we may give to Aanchir's input an even better placement: new masks for the heroes, recolours of the old ones to honour them and make the community even more united (no pun intended, or maybe yes- that would make sense if 2016 is really about unity). The recolours are of course intended to be worn by the inhabitants of Okoto. Also, in 2001 we had McToran wearing Toa masks: that didn't make those kanohi any less special. Darth Vader's helmet is one thing, a Hau a completely (and less unique) one. completely different*, derp Quote
AidanBionicle1 Posted September 11, 2015 Posted September 11, 2015 I bet we'll have the preliminary pictures next week. For the well being of my sanity I hope you're right. Quote
VBBN Posted September 11, 2015 Author Posted September 11, 2015 Recently saw these fan created concepts, and i think some of them give off the vibe your are on about. That second Kopaka is screaming Frost. As for the Toa masks, I feel as though the issue of masks reminding you of characters wouldn't be much of a problem if we had- you guessed it- mask packs. When I see the clear Hau used I don't think Tahu, I only think Tahu if I see that signature red color. Same story with the older sets, just because Vakama/Maku established the noble Huna, doesn't mean I thought Tehutti was wearing Vakama or Maku's face when he came out. Different colors go a long way. Several of those certainly have a Warframe-y vibe, I dig it. But yeah that one strait up looks like Frost. I agree about the masks. I think they could be used to nice effect but I'm not sure if they'll be used on other characters. I get the feeling LEGO isn't going to do that this time around though. After all, the villagers have their own mask rather than using a variety of recolored Toa masks as they did in G1. I think they are trying to keep things more unified(no pun intended) as much as I would like to see recolors of those sweet lookin' masks. From a story perspective, it's possible that with Ekimu revived, he'll start making masks for the villagers again, leaving the door open for LEGO to give villagers new masks and potentially making more villager sets or sets with villager characters in them with different masks than the one we have 7 of now. Actually, I think those are Takanuva and the G1 Toa Nuva. I hope the masks are new molds (and powers), but with a few visual cues from the old ones for consistency. Kinda like the Hero Factory BA helmets, and unlike the Phantoka/Mistika masks. Speaking of masks, do you think we'll get the Mask of Time next year or only in 2017? I hope it's the latter, so we can close the three-year trial with style (or even better, save it in case the line is prolonged a few more years). Quote
TwistLaw Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 (edited) Keep an eye on this russian website, it belongs to a toy shop and they listed on the day before yesterday all the 2016 winter sets for BIONICLE. It should be a matter of very few days before they put on the images too. (jeez, does Mother Russia really like that much BIONICLE? I knew about HF, but it'd be great if they continued the trend ) Edited September 12, 2015 by TwistLaw Quote

As a side-note, I just checked back on the Lego shop website under the URLs that had given us "Product not available" notices, and they now default to "Page not found". Looks like Lego finally plugged that source of leaks. :P Quote

Didn't they remove the skull names too first from the database? So this is likely not the last time we dig up the names from there. Quote

GK733 Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 ...it's not like adults usually buy kids their toys :P And Russia isn't really doing all that good now so it's possible they will shift their constraction focus area for that reason alone. Quote

Taking a look at that site, looks like they're like 2T Toys and just posted what I/others found on Amazon and posted it there. They've only got the 3 revealed Mixels instead of the entire first wave that was found... Edited September 13, 2015 by CM4Sci Quote
GK733 Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 And both of these stores are dedicated to sell only Lego so it's kinda safe to assume they just follow the news of their favorite brand instead of getting the information directly from TLG like Amazon did. Quote
