The new armor add-on is simply a dual-color version of the Skull Villain armor, by the looks of it.

I highly doubt it, it looks different to me.

Also, Onua seems to have trans-purple shells. Terak has trans-purple bones. Could this mean that we'll get Makuta in his Mask Maker form?

Even if not, he'll be easy to MOC-up with those parts. I'm so excited.

Gali has a different weapon mold than Lewa and Tahu. She has a huge broadsword. Meanwhile, Pohatu has a mace and Onua has a hammer with a drill on one side and a minigun on the other, both of which seem creative enough. Those hair things are more like crystals or feathers, kind of like some of the early concept art we've seen. The reason the creature have the same head mold is to allow the heads to function as additional armor caps in the combined forms. The new armor add-on is simply a dual-color version of the Skull Villain armor, by the looks of it.

Nah, it's the same it just hasn't been dualinjected (yet?)

Look at Ketar's arms, does that really look like skull armor to you?

And I'm not mad about the creatures sharing the same mask, it works just fine.

All in all

-Ikir

still uses those old flame pieces, othervise look's pretty boss

-Terak

Looks okay, gold doesn't suit as well

-Melum

On first glance looks like a recolored Terak, not really a fan of

The rest of the creatures sound really interesting.

-Tahu

looks really cluttered, awesome mask, weapons better have some function to redeem it looking horrible with those technic bars.

-Onua

XL-legs are okay, I guess. Can't say much about the mask, weapon is cool. the area that connects his arms seems really gappy partly due to him being in a really bad pose.

-Kopaka

Cool mask, stud shooter looks really meh, can't judge before better photo

-Gali

Don't like if she doesn't have any dark azure.

Dark trans-blue is good, pretty unfeminine pose that obscures most of her legs, and lower arms (Do I spot a bare lightblue trans-bone?) thigh armoring could be similiar to this years Tahu but with the new add-on and 3-long trans-blue shell instead. remains to be seen if the weapon will look better.

-Lewa

Mask looks better, weapons will have a wobbly connection.

-Pohatu

Good looking mask, shoulders look well covered and I really like the overall appearance, remains to be seen if the legs will change that, flail sounds great

Umarak

-Love those antlers, pretty unimaginitive weapon, looks like an actual titan, finally someone who is taller than Tahu.

-MoCo

It looks so much better than I imagined.

Overall, I hope they will do a major overhaul for the new add-on, it looks cluttered and doesn't blend well with the sets.

But then again, these pictures have a very bad quality and these are prelimnaries so I don't wan't to judge them too hard, these sets seem to have mroe specialised connections and parts so something will possibly change.

OK, further thoughts on the new pics:

Tahu: Looks pretty cool. Doesn't have the huge torso shells on his legs anymore, the new armour add-on looks nice, and his masks seems cool from what little I can make out. Seems they went way overboard on the gold though, particularly since they all come with a gold version of their mask too. Like the weapon piece (shared with Lewa in another colour) but wondering what the blob of technic on the handle is for. Is that a function, or just attachment?

Onua: Not quite as distinctive as his 2015 form, but still seems pretty bulky. Seems as though he's taller now too, which is good. Like the shoulder pads, and the mask seems good. Also really like the huge, double handed drill hammer. can't tell is shoulder pads are trans or solid purple.

Ikir: Definitely a phoenix. Looks pretty cool, I think those wings are technic based. Not sure that the "mask" is. Like that they're fighting little animal traps, and that all the traps have different legs.

Terak: That's a mole alright. Lots of nice trans purple. Big paws. Think I'm gonna like this guy.

Ooh, new pics.

Tahu: Looks decent, but to be honest,I don't like the new mask. I don't mind the amount of gold, though. Looks like he has a lot of trans-reddish orange, though, and I'm not a fan of that. The new weapons are meh, so it looks like me might not be the "First purchase" that he was in 2015.

Onua: I'm going to be that weird guy that likes this over 2015 Onua. He still looks massive and brawny, just less exaggerated. Maybe he could do with less gold in his torso, but that's something I can fix myself.

Ikir: Good birb. The phoenix works well, and I like the wings

Terak: The mole look comes across well. Not much else to say about it.

Does Ikir's wings use the Metru Nui matoran arm in them? Probably just the single ball joint with two axles. But how did they use the Skrall armor this year? I thought the old molds were scrapped. Or did they keep the 2010 ones?

Outside of the other creatures, i hope we get a drawing or pic of Gali and pohatu.

Too many different description about whether pohatu has a mace or a flail.

Also i think TLC got rid sec functions for the weapons

Skrall armor was last used in 2012 in Hero Factory set, so it's not that "old".

I can guarantee you it's not.

But they are in gold with Tahu which I'm excited for.

Also I must be one of the only people who never really liked the Vorox/Skrall armor

Ikir and Terak look like awesome little sets. Melum seems pretty good too (apparently it's a bird? And so the designers keep homaging the Tahu/Kopaka rivalry). The others sound less interesting but I might be proven wrong. The new head looks OK, I hope it has enough connection points.

Onua looks great but too much gold, wish the torso was black with gold and purple decorations like in 2015. Tahu looks OK, I feel he looks less powerful than his 2015 form did but a more slender frame might be better suited for him to combine with Ikir. Kopaka looks awesome once again, Ice sets might win me over this time as well.

I keep correcting mistakes, keyboard messed up a bit.

Wow. Onua. Can't tell if I like his new look or hate how different he is from the Master version. Either way, he does look pretty cool. And Trans Purple shells on him it seems as well as Terak. Speaking of Terak, him and Ikir are pretty sweet. Can't wait to see the other creatures.

Also first time seeing the Kopaka sketch. He's alright, I suppose. But I'm worried that Melum is going to be a clone or very similar to Terak...

I dislike the Skrall/Vorox armor too. I don't really see why people want them so much. They don't work well with the CCBS aesthetic. Even the hyper-detailed Fire Villain flamethrower shell looks completely different, as does the Skull Villain armor add-on.

One question is:

Which color dues the logo fur next year have?

If so, is it going to be a bit darker?

Someone said the color is green for next year. Weird considering the Toa are set on a lava background in the catalog, not so weird considering Umarak's color scheme and forest background.

(Why is this a thing? Trans red and trans yellow exist, so why do Lego keep making trans reddish orange and trans lime and pretending they're the other colours in Constraction?)

Presumably because they're fluorescent, so they stand out more and have more "energy", so to speak. LEGO did have Transparent Fluorescent Red and Transparent Fluorescent Yellow colors (Tahu and Gali's original eye colors), but those were discontinued years ago as part of the LEGO Group's attempt to trim down their color palette in the mid-naughts. It's understandable why they didn't make the cut since they were hardly used in any other sets.

The boxes look the same as before but the mask is the Mask of Control (the one with horns) and a green glow behind it.

Took a look at Onua again, man that's just so much purple and gold. I mean, mod him a bit, have him wear the MoCo and you pretty much get a Toa-sized Makuta. Don't get me wrong, he looks like a very solid figure. I'm probably going to use the new Toa as a basis for a different team anyway so I'm actually happy they aren't carbon copies of the 2015 Toa.

I can guarantee you it's not.

I didn't think about it much but looks like you're right- the add-on is smaller and more curved than the Skull armour add-on.

Are you sure? Now that I look at it better, I'm not even sure if Tahu has them. They look a bit different than the Skull Guys' add-on, especially at the top.

I don't hate it but I'm hot for it like many seems to be either. It's..ok I guess. I don't mind seeing some G1 pieces return, though that happened with HF as well.

Too many people already dislike the new sets and haven't even fully seen them lol

Welcome to the Lego fandom.

You'd think that, since 2015 is probably blue to match the owner of the MoCr (Ekimu), 2016 should be purple like Makuta. But green it is, I guess. I bet 2017 is going to be red.

The new masks are an odd bunch. Some look like their G1 Kanohi Nuva counterparts (Tahu's, Kopaka's), Pohatu's is fairly close to his 2015 mask, while the others look unlike anything the G1 Mata/Nuva team members wore. Overall though, if we really have to make a Nuva comparison, these new masks are much better looking, keeping a clean 2001-like design line and... being.. not huge and deformed in general.

Congratulations. You've just discovered a big reason why Lego dislikes leaks. In addition to giving their competitors an early advantage, they allow fans to form early impressions of sets based on unpolished preliminary images which were never meant to be made public.

You can probably be sure that once the sets are officially revealed in their finalized states, more people will come around to them, and the same will happen once they're available in stores and have been reviewed online. It follows pretty much the same pattern every single year, without fail.

I think you count me into this group?

They don't seem that great but sure I'm going to bet they will look better when we see final/better pics.

But having only one new weapon mold truly sucks and that isn't going to change.

In general, people's opinion will change anyway, so why is it such a big reason ?
