Wasn't really arguing on the lines of "Krana VS Skull Spiders" there, I was pointing out that the "conflict in a box" concept is pointless when the conflict in said box isn't much of one. At least the Jumpers came in pairs of two... sometimes, anyway.

I'll take Skull Spiders over Krana any time. Krana were nothing without Bohrok (and vice versa), they were just legless, armless, wierd little squishy faces. Skull Spiders at least can do SOMETHING on their own. If you knock a Krana off Toa's face, then it's over, but if you do the same with a Skull Spider, it can still try to jump back on Toa's head and try to take control over Toa's mind.

That we never even knew the name of. Sure, it's ambiguous, but when said village likely had no armaments (someone please correct me if I'm wrong on that), it's far less an accomplishment.

Plus, I wouldn't say that seeing things is superior to hearing about them - that's when imagination comes to play.

Depends on who's hearing it. Seeing a character such as Matau that you had saved a year prior in the story turned evil would be far more personal and scary than seeing someone you had only just met turned evil, or hearing of an entire village turned evil in comparison to seeing 1/6th of an entire city's worth of people turned evil (although admittedly it wasn't known that that was how many Matoran lived in Le-Koro at the time, nor was it fully depicted) leaves a pretty distinctive idea of why something is so evil. But that might be just me.

Maybe the creatures will have recolored Toa masks from this year, while the new Toa have new molds. Similar to how the rahi in 01' had all them fancy Kanohi colors. :3

but its not clear how different they are from the old versions. We could end up seeing very similar designs or we could end up seeing radically different designs - its going to be interesting to see.

I kinda liked the bags, but even if I didn't, I'd gladly take them over the boxes we got this year. So fragile and useless. Hopefully we get something more usable next year.

Well, canisters returning seems unlikely so at the moment it seems a choice between either bags or boxes. Personally prefer the boxes as pieces are less likely to be bent as they were with the bag sets i got for Chima and Hero Factory.

Could see us getting one trans-clear mask as another exclusive. Trans-clear armour would'nt really add much to the set given it would show the bones, but combined with the trans-clear bones it might be interesting. Silver Toa masks would also be pretty cool, though would prefer to get the new masks in gold and varying shades/colours also.

It occurs to me that if TLG wants to do what they did with HF and keep the same main characters the entire line, the Toa's masks may all keep some level of sameness to their first ones. Too many differences would making it difficult for someone not in the lore to see they are the same characters (adaptive armor masks, anyone?).

Yeah makes sense they'd keep them mostly the same - just wondering how similar they'll end up being. Too similar and they would'nt match the updated armour designs - too different and they'd risk losing the association with the character as you mentioned.

I'm sure they could come up with something new, but I just don't want these exact same boxes reused, since they were flimsy and didn't survive shipping particularly well. The design was cool, the materials were sub-par. But since we got three years of bags for HF, I should brace myself for disappointment there...

Yeah, I am really happy with the boxes we have gotten. They could stand to being a bit thicker, but I think all the people complaining about how fragile they are (I am sorry I couldn't quote you as well Voxovan and Dorek, but I am on mobile) are overblown. I've gotten a lot of sets and have not had any problems with the boxes being busted or smashed up. I hope that they do keep the same style of boxes, as their hexagonal shape really helps them stand out on the shelf while still fitting in as distinctly Lego.

I received the Toa, LoSS, and Skull Creatures in the mail. I can personally testify that 3 Skull villains' and four Toa's boxes were pretty much wrecked upon arrival.

It's a similar issue to broken sockets; it may not have happened to everyone, but it was still a legitimate problem. :P

I love their design and I prefer them greatly to HF's bags, and honestly packaging isn't really a concern of mine (I had no qualms with saying goodbye to canisters if it meant better sets), but if there could be some improvements that would be nice.

The only box I have that is slightly messed up is my Kopaka box which I picked up at Target. I ordered Onua, Gali, Korgot, and Nilku off of the internet back in March and their boxes came undamaged. Maybe it's a region thing? But I agree they are flimsy, but I love the shape.

And a con with bags, other then my personal dislike for them, is showcasing them. They were real easy to get all jumbled in certain areas and a tad hard to actually tell what set is what to the untrained eye(like a small child in a toy aisle). Therefore they're probably not best for sales.

Unless they are signed by designers, I don't even keep the packaging anyway.

Either way there will be always be a risk of QC issues- From getting a completely smashed system box through the mail once to dealing with missing parts in canister sets. I liked that the bags didn't have a chance of tearing, unlike some of the new " box canisters" which have a tendency to rip near the tabs if you aren't careful. I think it's be neat to get something similar to the 2008 matoran, where it was part box/part canister, provided the canister part had a cool dual-use function. (To date my favorite is still the 01 lid's mask storage ability.

It's the smashed boxes combined with the "well now what do I do with it?" factor. I keep the boxes around out of habit, but they don't serve any purpose once you're done, which is a disappointment; if they could, say, be turned into scenery (like the golden Skull mask) then that could be a neat adaptation.

Amusingly, all of my boxes so far have come FROM Lego; obviously international shipping is never foolproof, but there's a certain amount of irony to it.

Hmm, so Kopaka's coming packaged with another figure, presumably his creature counterpart. Either that or an exiled fire tribe Glatorian #Malum2016confirmed :P

If this set shares a price point with Ekimu vs Kulta, then hopefully Kopaka will retain his size. the name "unity" would suggest that the two can combine. Hopefully this is the case, and it's not just a bad translation of 'team'. If "unity" is the new name used for combiner, that would be very fitting for Bionicle, especially since the three virtues allegedly got a big push in the recent chapter book.

Hope these creatures are diverse in terms of builds. Jungle could be a monkey or bird, ice a wolf, water a fish or turtle, etc...

Hope they're being controlled via corrupted masks as well, partially for nostalgia's sake, partially for MOAR MASKS

I hope so too. I think Kopaka's creature should be a pet wolf.

A rather vague post from an anonymous user said he knows a guy who has the catalog and would have pictures out in the next Monday. He didn't want to tell much by now but said there is a creature shooting stuff from it's mouth.

I've also heard rumors that Just2good would have some info by/before 8th of August.

There is really nothing to confirm these but I'd predict we get some leaks this or next week anyways. Gonna be exciting.

Any more word on the anonymouse catalogue dude? The 'creature shooting stuff from it's mouth' sounds intriguing though might just be stuff gathered from other leaks that we've had.

Also, Just2good said he doesnt have any info on Bionicle sets. It seems someone has been spreading rumours about him having info.

Both came from 4Chan. There's no way to confirm if the other was talking the truth but I'm a silly adult who can't wait for his plastic toys so I don't want to be too pessimistic :/

Also someone mentions he's friend works on a shop and got the catalog yesterday but wasn't willing to share anything. I mean, was any of what I said true or not the leaks can happen at anytime.

Its alright, i'm the same at the moment, just interested in getting leaks so we can get a teaser of what is to come. Especially concerning the upgraded Toa, given i'd like to know ahead of time whether they'll be worth getting after getting the 2015 versions - depends how much variation they have.

Hopefully the catalogue thing is true as it could mean leaks would happen fairly soon - though its unfortunate that those who get the catalogue dont seem to be willing to share if it is true.

The Mask of Control. Who knows if we'll get it next year or not, but I was thinking. The Mask of Creation has all the glyphs on it; however, it lacks them in the animations. Since we haven't seen the MoCo outside of the animations, I'm wondering if it'll have similar glyphs. Would be a neat tie between the two masks if it did.

I'm 99,9% sure it will. The real question is will MoUP? But it's far to early to speculate on that. Pretty sure it'll be teased more next year or even in the animations that are going now.

If this is in fact concept art for 2016, then it looks like the Toa have slightly changed weapons and masks as well as a new chest pattern. Doesn't appear to be a drastic change. Tahu's mask appears to have 3 cheek vents instead of just 2, as well as an actual forehead vent like the 2001 Hau.

Essentially they believe the differences are because these are intended to be the 2016 versions of the Toa, retaining much the same body just with new leg/shoulder armour, masks and weapons. Though admittedly they could be concept art changes

Though personally i'm more intrigued with what is happening - this being an event that doesnt appear to be part of the 2015 storyline and could possibly be part of the 2016 storyline.

I am the guy whose friend runs a toy shop and has recently received the 2016 catalogue.

The shop is here in Italy, near Milan, but sadly I asked him multiple times to take pictures without getting a positive answer. "I may risk my partnership with LEGO", those were his words. Also the fact he has two times my age doesn't help when I tell him i won't spread the images family friends are the worst.

But at least we know catalogue are out there, and we should be getting pictures this week.

But yeah, I can tell you 2016 Tahu will not just be a slight variation of his 2015 form. That concept art is the 2015 version with slight changes due to the artist's style.
