adultlegouser Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Pretty good solution there. i may have to order those orange parts to try this. Quote
Woodstock89 Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 Alternatively, you can try the solution shown here: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/133743-42056-porsche-911-gt3-rs-mods-and-improvements/&do=findComment&comment=2632994 where the small panels have a different orientation. Same panel but may require different pieces to work and possibly some disassembly. More info on that version http://www.moc-pages.com/moc.php/431720 Quote
dwalker Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 (edited) Here's my quick go at making the dashboard more realistic I brought the left and centre sections out 1 stud by adding a 13l liftarm. And then I replaced the 2l curve pieces with 4l ones either side of the screen. I also added a bit of a bump in the middle for the clock Edited February 21, 2019 by dwalker Quote

I think that is the first cosmetic mod for the interior I have seen. Great job. Quote

I forgot to say, to do this I also added a blue half pin and round stud plate behind each paddle shifter to bring them out slightly. Otherwise the new dashboard would obstruct the paddles. Moving the paddles out has no effect on the gearbox function and makes the paddles a bit closer to the wheel too Quote
Vectormatic Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 I just finished building the "pimp my porsche" version, and have to say that i absolutely love it. I already knew stuff about how the gearbox would work for instance, but the stepper mechanism and the way the paddle shifters work was very enjoyable to build, chances are ill give my chiron the same treatment in the future to fix its (relatively minor) issues. It also makes me realise just how far 42096 is off the mark, it is at a smaller scale, supposed to be a race car, yet has twice the ground clearance at the back of 42056, and the roof line is too high as well. Plus, 42056 and 42083 now dwarf all the other cars in my display, 42039, which i previously considered one of crowns of my collection looks unsophisticated and small compared to the behemoths. Ill have to look at filling in some of the smaller gaps in the porsche though Quote
ask_j Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Hi, I just purchased the Porsche 911 42056. I am reading about this model since last year and pulled the trigger this year.. I read this forum and few other forums. I have few questions. 1. I was looking for the instructions for 1.4 version. I see that 1.3 is clickable but 1.4 is not. 2. Are there any instructions on how to motorize this? Please guide. Quote

Does the motorized version has all the mods, what we have in 1.4? Or at least the mods to reduce friction and hence not damaging the gears and other parts? Quote

boochydog Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 (edited) well, finally completed my V1.4 pimp my porsche MOC by jb70 from rebrickable. really happy with the outcome. i used all the mods in V1.4, plus a few others. i added in a few orange pieces under the headlights that really help with the open space. i added the 2 orange pieces next to the back tail lights that also filled in some open space. i used 2 black connectors to better connect the panels directly in front of the back tires (the last 2 pieces that have the stickers added behind the doors). i added the extra stickers that really help the entire completed kit stick out. also, since V1.4 substitutes the gear indicator in place of the display panel, i added in the course map at the front, but not sure how that works yet. i will try to add a few more pictures, but the size limit is restricting me. Ngoc Nguyen Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 (edited) May I interest you sirs in a lime Porsche? Not my photos. I found them on FB. Apparently they are built by Strictly Technic from Australia. Edited September 8, 2020 by Ngoc Nguyen Quote

Slinger Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 Hi everyone! First time posting. So I'm rebuilding my old Porsche with the goal of applying the great errata. And some other nice tweaks (like filling the empty spaces under the front+back lights, and maybe change the lower rear spoiler). So far I've noticed that Blakbird's "step 5 fix" doesn't seem necessary for me (removing the LBG 62462 pin joiner in the D-N-T gearbox). The old pictures are gone so it's hard to tell, but having assembled the D-N-R module carefully everything runs friction free (after wiggling and tweaking the gears). Or maybe the friction will occur later? Quote

You're probably right, I'll remove it (just in case). And maybe replace it with a few 1/2 bushings... Also, I'm quite a fan of your creations! I've been drooling over your "Rugged supercar" for quite some time. Quote
LegoHoops Posted October 17, 2020 Posted October 17, 2020 (edited) Started this Dark Azure coloured Porsche 911 GT3 Cup PCA Edition inspired car over a month long lockdown earlier in the year. It has taken quite a while to get pieces from international Bricklink sellers, as NZ supplies have been exhausted. The Technic Panel 7 x 3 (24119) was a challenge to source. I‘m still waiting for a few more pieces to complete it, like Dark Azure Bionicles to replace the Blacks ones on the front end. The build was based on “Pimp my Porsche” with an improved paddle shifter unit and a few mods because of the limitations of using Dark Azure colourway. 2GodBDGlory Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 (edited) I recently built this famed set out of my collection, just to see what it was like. The way my collection is, it ended up being built in my trademark LBG, with many painted panels. Before long, though, I decided to chase RC performance. I installed my near-hobby RC motor backed by a planetary hub for gear reduction where the piston engine once went, replaced the differential with a "square" of two 12T bevel gears, a 28T bevel gear, and a 28T bevel gear from the new differential (because it couldn't have an axle hole). This setup spreads out forces much more evenly than a simple set of two bevel gears, which is key when this much power is at play. I disconnected the gearbox, locked out the rear suspension and replaced the CV joints with straight axles, and added some grease to the drivetrain. I then added the near-hobby servo motor up to the steering system and disconnected the steering wheel, found a place to tuck the circuit board for control, and dumped the 9.6V lithium battery in the passenger footwell. Amazingly, this high-power setup in a heavy car didn't destroy a single drivetrain element! Testing of the car was a lot of fun! The modifications were shockingly reliable, and the car could actually drift with a fresh battery! I tried conducting some top speed tests in the longest hall in our house, which was not nearly long enough, and reached a top speed of 9 km/h. I would be curious to know how much faster it could go, given more space. It was a great toy, given the good appearance of the original set, and the good performance of the modification. Perhaps I will apply a similar mod to other sets in the future! Dom's Dodge Charger would fit the theme well, but I don't have the tires... Drivetrain mods: Spoiler Steering mods: Spoiler Control mods: Spoiler Images at: https://bricksafe.com/pages/2GodBDGlory/porsche-911-gt3-rs-mod My video of the car got rather destructive! Hi @LegoHoops and anyone else who can help, it's been a while since I've been on here! Having just finished the Lamborghini Sian I thought I'd revisit the Porsche to strip it down and re-build in right hand drive configuration. I remember finding a full PDF build instruction file on the interweb somewhere a good while ago (should have downloaded it then, I know!!) but I can't find it now and wondered how you went about the RHD build and if you know of any instructions available to download? Any help anyone can suggest would be very much appreciated. Thanks. Quote
langko Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 Finished my own revamped GT3 RS thanks to the Pimp my Porsche on rebrickable. Also, not sure if anyone has done this (haven't read all 36 pages) but an extra 3x13 curved panel either side of the bonnet fills the gap perfectly. Quote
