Well that makes my 160 posts in one day look quite modest. Is there a way the admins can modify the number of posts for each user?

Posted
He just jumped about 500 posts????????? What is that about?

Wow, you follow people's post he :-D

He's the Emperor, and as such, he warps posts - when he's not napping that is ;)

There is indeed a way for us to change peoples post count, so be warned anyone could suddenly find themselves back at 0.... :-D ;)

Yep, we love to make number of posts completely useless... This is not the quantity of posts that counts but the quality :^D

he, he, that is sooooo true Jipay

I really don't see the point of looking the numbers of post and have a kind of "contest" to see how many post each one has!!!!

Can we expect a kind of bonus/malus system :-D

Perhaps we need to have a policy where all members post counts are returned to 0 once they reach 2000. *devil* :-D ;)

Its but a number that doesn't really mean anything in reality. Howevever, Kulo has a point - some of the admins post count has dramatically risen in the past week... Almost unnaturally... Its as though they have clones of themselves posting...

Indeed both myself and another admins count have risen, is it our clones???? or is it a game of one up man ship between us to???

Ill let you decide :-D ;)

I'm too lazy to formulate a decision upon this matter. If it makes the admins feel bigger to have a higher post count, then good for them. It may denote they possess some insecurities if they feel they need to artificially increase their of number posts, but it doesn't really effect anything in the slightest.

Mmmm not sure why you feel we have insecurities Phes, myself and Orlego were just messing around with each other and in my mind and i bet in Orlegos to, it dosent make us feel any bigger or more importaint than anyone else.

If either one of us were on a power trip then we could of changed the number to a much higher one that would take a member years to reach, i really dont understand why you feel you have to have a go at the staff here for no reason Phes, it just causes Unnecessary arguments and posts like these :( .

Well not that I really mind because I don't really care how many posts I have. I do feel left out though because the moderators get special privleges members do not. I can't have fun messing with forum topics or titles. I can't play around with peoples post counts or give fun or quirky titles to anyone. Not that it really matters but it is like being in a sport where you know other players have more "skills" than you but you can't do much about it. I could go start my own team and have all those privleges but it isn't the same. I don't want your responsiblity, nor your power to moderate. I enjoy being apart of this community and would like to have fun joking around with people like just about everyone else. Maybe I am just weird but when we played outside as children we had our own "pecking order" and for some of us (not saying anyone else is like this here) who were the "leader" it seems odd not to be able to do the things other "leaders" do. Trust me I do not at this time want any of you duties, responsibilty, or privleges. I just like to be in on a joke instead of catch the last few words laugh akwardly and walk away not getting it.

Whoa, I really don't know why I just wrote that. We all want to be "cool" and belong. If you and Orlego want high post counts then try not to leave all the rest of us out of the fun.

Oh, and someone change the topic title. I don't use language like that and it really says nothing about the topic being discussed. I would prefer people used words like hell and damn correctly which would mean if they are nice people they wouldn't use them. ;) . I know it can be used as an exclaimation of doubt or shock but I could find at least a dozen other ways to express as much with out even a remote chance of offending anyone.

Well, I know I'm cool... the voices in my head tell me so... all eight of them... :')

In the end, I'm relatively content. Is my post count high ? Nope. I pick my words and my posts carefully. I'll plod along at my own speed. Is it important to me what someone elses post count is ? Nope, so as long as they tend to be helpful, courteous and add to the community, I don't typically care if a given poster is a lurker who has posted once, or a someone with 3300 posts under his belt. This is a relatively small forum, and the mods are friendly. Its why I de-lurked in the first place.

I think that about everything I have to say on the subject at the moment. :-D

Huh? I haven't had a go at anyone here... I've just made observations... I'm getting the impression if I actually had a go at someone here they might need councilling for weeks... And we wouldn't want that! Heh! I'm just grossly misunderstood in some parts of the world...

I personally think all post counts should be kept true to the number of posts a user has made. Of course there's some friendly competition for posts. That can't be stopped. I think people should be able to trust that that number indicates how many posts a user has made - right now, nobody's sure what's what.

If you wanted to make post counts totally irrelevant, I'm sure you could disable them. I'd even support it. But I do not think that if they are here to stay, they should be fooled around with.

All right, where to begin.

Commenting on 'insecurities' and the need for the admins to 'feel bigger' does very much come off as snarky and or sarcastic. Especially when you seem to feel the need to play the 'small guy held down by the system' as of late. It might not be your intent to come off as sarcastic, but when impugning the ego and or moods of moderators, it cetainly comes across that way.

Huh? I haven't had a go at anyone here... I've just made observations...

Fallacy: Calling them observations does not make them any the less your opinion. Attempting to couch it in scientific jargon just makes it seem as though you are impartial, or that your opinion is somehow more valid than the next persons.

I'm just grossly misunderstood in some parts of the world...

And its this last why I am addressing this at all: Because the strong impression is given that one of two events is transpiring. Either you have a real tendency towards passive agressive behavior as is borne out in your sarcastic comments made towards the mods which then you move to a stance of "I didn't mean it that way, I'm just misunderstood."

Or, that you simply do not translate well to text. Text is a medium in which inflection is extremely hard to read, and meaning is not always conveyed as one would hope. If this latter is truly the case, then I would suggest choosing your words more carefully, and make ample use of the smilies made available to better give indication of meaning.

If anything, take from this that Vader wasn't the only one who percieved that post as sarcastic, and that being the case, it may be less that we don't understand you than that you do not communicate very efficently in text.

Very well said old chap *wub*

I'll remember to use more smilies from now on X:D Which opens up the possibility that I may interperate the smilies different to how other people interperate them... But that's another story...

Now adding to that Communication is 40% spoken, 60% body language. Of the 40% that is spoken, its 30% of the way its said and a mere 10% of the actual words. So you're only getting 10% of my message and the other 90% is being misinterperated.

Where have I've used scientific jargon? :oo I've been writing quite informally here. It appears the words have been misconstrued too.

Besides, aren't I allowed to make observations that may seem opinioned to some? Especially after I asked and my response was "Ill let you decide", so it was left open for my interpertation which I analysed critically.

If the mods hadn't been playing about then this thread wouldn't even exist, nor I would have realised unless someone else pointed it out. The prescence of unusual activity arrose suspicions to which I was merely speculating what was going on. Had it been explained when I asked, my speculation wouldn't have been required.

I've heard its a figure around that... But the statistics here in our polls are very accurate aren't they? Not made up whatsoever!
