  1. 1. Have you operated a Technic set in real life?

    • Yes, and that's why I bought the set.
    • Yes, but I haven't bought the set.
    • No, I haven't.

Well, I'll count supercars in the poll (edited first post accordingly), and yes, go-carts count :sweet:

In that case: I've driven go-carts a few times (always with terrible results), and a supercar once (Ferrari 348 TS).

In both cases I had LEGO sets long before I drove the real deal.

I've driven a tank. In GTA SA ;)

In real life, once I drove a car something like 100m ( no worries, my father was at my side all the time)

I know that street vehicles don't count here, but... I was a passenger in a pickup truck, about 1000 feet deep inside of a mine, so maybe that counts. And of course, flew on several 2/3 seater small planes on occasion...

I've driven several diggers such as the JCB 3x, various forklifts and tractors, but had technic versions before I could (age wise) or did drive the real thing! Maybe it should be what technic sets do you have that you'd like to drive the real thing! Now I have the technic Porsche there's an asperation, or bugger still a helicopter :-)

some tractor at my granpas farm when I was still a kid (when I was still to small to reach down to the pedals)

aaaaand a helicopter! ;)

I had once a 1 hour flight with a training one with dual rudders, after 15 mins the instructor asked if I used to play video games, since that helps a lot to get the feeling for the joystick control and the delay in response of the rotors. Then he put his hands away from the controls and basically let me fly around for half an hour on my own. If that damn pilot license wouldn't be THAT expensive, I would have changed my job after that day ;)

I consider myself lucky that I have had the opportunity to drive a few of "real Technic sets":

So far I have driven the following machines (besides a load of cars and jeeps): 20+ different motorbikes, a dirt bike, go-cart, medium sized Volvo front loader, a vintage tractor, a sit-on lawnmower, several types of forklifts, a cherry picker, a scissor lift and 10 minutes in a light aircraft. Many more machines are on my wish-list and I'm always on the lookout for the opportunity to drive a new machine.

As for the question of TS of which came first, it's not so black and white for me. Sometimes I need to have driven the vehicle first to spark the interest in the Technic model (like the motorbikes), but other times, the machine itself fascinates me enough to buy the set and only later the change of driving it comes along (like the front loader).
