Hello everybody,

Here's my modification of the B-model of the 42042 crawler crane. It has power functions with remote control. The motors are used for slewing, moving the trolley and for hoisting/lowering the hook. the base is still provisional, also the hook and the hoisting wire still have to be added. as it turned out the crane has a good weight balance, it stays upright even with the the batterybox removed. Later I'll upload a video and I'll do a load test.

The spring is used to keep the tension on the trolley wire, the trolley itsel is a little bit colour vomit, but I lack the correct parts

And the last photo, together with the the modification of the A-model of the 42042

And last but not least I made a new base for the crane

Also I replaced the 2 IR receivers with an sbrick

That's pretty impressive. I've always struggle with trolley rope tension and your solution is nicely elegant. And the half width liftarms make it all quite compact too.

Braided elastic cord is a good solution for trolley travel with just enough friction to move trolley along the arm but cord slips when end stops are reached.

Self tensioning and no tangles.

See this link which shows how this was acheived - which only requires a drive to the top of the tower.

Thanks for the extra pics. I'm gonna try to implement the moving trolley into the crane. :classic:

I know this and that about real tower cranes, being that that is my #1 hobby. And I have to say it is very hard to build a realistic trolley jib tower crane with proper look and functions - this here is one of the very few that I have seen and I would say are *really* realistic!!  Amazing stuff!! Have You finished the chassis since? Is the crane on tracks maybe? :classic:

Nice mod right there. I like the mod on the a model rather than the b model. Legosamigos mod is also very good. I'll try doing it but might need some few parts. Anyways I like the mod.
