What do you do with your set/moc after you build them?

  1. 1. Measuring the fun, after the set is built...

    • Roll around on the floor with them (almost like you are wrestling with your set).
      1
    • Swoosh the parts around playing "ventriloquist" with the minifigs.
      21
    • Get 'em in the dirt and snow so you could take really nice sunset pictures.
      0
    • Put them nicely on the bookshelf like TheBrickster so they could collect dust.
      24
    • Take them apart and put them back in the original box for garage storage later.
      1
    • Take the pieces apart and use them to build something else.
      6
    • Take them apart and add the pieces to the great Lego pile/organized part shelf.
      6
    • Begin taking pictures of them for an image review on EB (+10 points for this one).
      5
    • Display them with treehouses and walruses in a playful Hinkly fashion.
      1
    • Buy more! (I'm addicted to ABS)
      8
    • Other strange and deviant things...

As I sit here typing and look at my Indiana Jones sets resting on my office table, I can't help to wonder what everyone does with their sets after they build them. Just a little humorous poll to determine the fun factor after the build is over.

:-P Ha, I actually like to play pretened with my minifigs and roleplay and such, basically swoosh them around and play "ventriliquist"

That's great! I wish I still had "the play" in me. About the only thing that will keep me playing is an electric train - switching track and running trains around one another (choo choo!).

Although the new Indiana motorcycle seems like it might be fun (rev up and do some wheelies).

i chose other strange and devient things as i often after getting spaceships sit in my star trek uniform from vegas and pretend to be the starship captain and crash the ship into things such as m,y new cafe corner...

steel...

yeah i am really weird.... :-D

So... There are a few things I do with them. First I start looking at them for a few minutes and look how nicely the model is. Then sometimes I play with it and I put them on my bookshelf or on a table. At last I buy more LEGO!

I voted for the bookshelfthingy.

Lately (due to lack of time) I usually only build something when I am reviewing it. After which, it sits on a shelf and collects dust...

I'll be honest, I play with it for a bit. X-D Then, I find all the things I don't like about the set, mod it, and then add it to my layout. I don't like things on shelves, I like to see them in a hangar, at a dock, etc.

I like that to, but if you don't have that hangar, dock, streets etc. it's a bit difficult. I mean, if you don't have the PLACE to but that hangar or dock. :-( :-$

Funny idea TheBrickster.

Me? I do two. I voted for the "play with the minifigs and sets like a ventriloquest" option.

But I am also a lot like TheBrickster in that I set them up on my shelf looking neat and tidy. I have my armies perfect, and they are all in poses.

BUT! The reason I voted the other one is because I always get them back out and play with them.

See this pic of my castle armiy for example:

I did this yesterday. I also got my Vikings out too but they kept falling out. I also pull out my Batmobile and Battank and play with those awesome villains too. And then I return them to my shelf on beautiful display :'-)

I also animate, but I'm waiting for a better program, but when I do, you'll be seeing some movies ;-)

Nothing to Say, but Batbrick Away! >:-)

Hmmm you missed one, all of the above :-D

Except maybe the walrus one :-P

Seriously I put all sets on display however that is after I have good fun with them. So first comes the "ventriloquist" option then the display one. Since after all, LEGO is a toy and an art form. All sets have playability, however some have more than others, like the town sets, sure they are fun and look cool but they aren't as playable as Castle or SW.

P

EDIT: missed one, if nobody has reviewed the set, then I'll do a review with a little comic/story

I put them on a shelf to collect dust, till I realize they collected enough 8-| . Then I take them apart and build something different, which I photograph and upload on BS and EB :-P

swooshing around - modding them - more swooshin' - more modding - bookshelf (where they collect dust until I pick them up to swoosh again!)

I remember when I got the 4502 X-Wing asap in late 2003, and well.... Luke was flying around a lot and learned to know Yoda like dozens of times in the week after I got it.. :-D

I don't either, but I do it anyway. :-P

I chose "Take pictures for an image review on EB", though I'm not going to be doing that til Monday/Tuesday or so when my shipment of '08 sets arrives, and even then two of them are already done...p'raps a second opinion would be nice? =P

However, mainly I take them apart to build something else, as well. That's the fun of Lego for me - it's not limited to the sets you buy. ^.^

strangely i don't play with them anymore. i build them, then put them in a box since i have no display space anymore. occasionally take them out and look at them again. but mostly after i build a set i have the strange urge to buy more lego! so i voted for "i am addicted to ABS".

if i am not shopping at retail stores, i will be shopping online on amazon.com or other online retailers. if they all don't have lego on sales, then i hit ebay. it's a strange addiction. so far i have spent way too much in 2007. by my last count probably ranging in the 5k region (incl tax and shipping). gotta cut back in 2008. maybe go into another dark age. :-D

i dream of one day being able to build a natelite town comprised of the wild west district, the pirates district, the classic castle district (together with wolfmen and forestmen), the new castle district, the space district, the exoforce district, etc. :-) somehow i think it is going to be a challenge having enough room for such a large city :-D :-D :-D

Actually, I could have voted for 3 of the given options. :-$

Right after the build, I "Swoosh the parts around playing "ventriloquist" with the minifigs.".

After that, I "Put them nicely on the bookshelf like TheBrickster so they could collect dust."

(...actually, I put them in a display case, where they collect less dust.)

And finally, I "Buy more!" (if I have some money left)

Swoosh the parts around playing "ventriloquist" with the minifigs. :-D I normally build a set, play with it until I get bored, and then put it on display on my shelves. Strangely, I didn't really play with my King's Castle Siege, I just built it, and put it on display, mainly to complete my Castle display.

In my old circumstances I would put them on a shelf (the option I selected) for an indetermined amount of time and then atsome point taken down to be canabalized for other projects. With some (Millenium Falcon, B-Wing, Graveyard Duel, Hogwarts, JSFs, Doc Ock's Hideout..) left up ALWAYS.....

As of now? Built and then "broken down" into small enough sections to store in a rubbermaid container :'-(

I don't have a place to display my Lego right now >:-(
