TFA videogame introduced a lot of new blaster molds , when they really didn't need to do this. Makes me think Lego is hinting that they will be in sets next year. But that's just my speculation.

I wouldn't read too much into it. There's a whole bunch of parts outside of the guns that don't exist in real life that they use in the game. It's been like that for pretty much every telltale LEGO game. Which is weird because some of the builds feature magical connections (not connected by studs or anything), why do that if you can just conjure up new parts. They also use parts in colors that they dont actually mold them in real life.

I'm curious about who builds all the stuff in the games and what the approval process is like.

I'm really okay with what's already in production. Would different Blaster types really change anything?

I agree that what we have a fine, but a few more varieties wouldn't hurt. I can think of a few weapons that would benefit a ton from new molds, the Bo-rifle from Rebels comes to mind (though that's a rather specific example, some other molds could be used much more extensively).

Certain characters that will ALWAYS appear in SW sets should get a mold if theyre known for their blaster.

Han Solo's blaster needs to be made. Its distinctive, mentioned a bit, and actually important to his character as a scoundrel. Also "who shot first?" Is one of the most devisive and important scenes within SW as a whole. His blaster is crucial to that.

Stormtroopers should because their blasters never change and they always have them.

Otherwise I dont think we need lots of new molds for blasters. I would love lots but realistically I hoped for at least a couple to diversify what we have.
