Markypops Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 To be honest, I was quite excited when I first heard about this theme and a little bit dissapointed when I say the first picture. However I will holdback on my judgement as I have found in the past that these type of themes are great for spare parts collecting and normally you can pick up some nice new minifig torsos, at a little less cost than most of the licensed themes. The other thing to remember is LEGO is a toy and in such has a wide spectrum of age groups to keep happy and must appeal to younger age groups just as much as it does with certain lines to the AFOL. iamded Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 How could we judge the whole theme by one preliminary pic? Plus this particular pic has a huge glare right across the middle. I'd encourage people not to be too quick to judge until we see clear pictures of the whole line. Well, yeah, true. That's kind of what I said in my 1st post in this topic, maybe we'll set up the poll when we have finals of the pics, I'm sure some people opinions won't have changed. ;-) ~Peace Quote
Corvus Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 Think harder. ;-) Pirates ...... Wild West ............ Adventurers ................. Exo-Force (there was a pistol in the sentai fortress) *Tries* Oww.... I meant the realistic, dangerous looking ones. Pirates, Wild West, and Adventurers had a more innocent feel to them, and the figs had smiling faces. EF is non-realistic, with mechas and big hair, so that doesn't have a "real life" feel to it, either. Agents, on the other hand, have serious looks on their faces, and are holding sub-machine guns. Shadows Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 I LOVE IT! I love everything about it! I'm so excited! *wub* *wub* *wub* Want to know why? It's the first theme coming this year that I can just walk by and not feel bad about not buying ... My wallet thanks you, I thank you! *y* Ok, if they make some of the tiny vehicles in $5 sets with a fig or two, I might buy those for faces and general parts, but that's it. YAY! X-D Quote
voltio Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 I agree with those who say that Agents is probably an exciting, playable theme for kids, in the vein of Alpha Team or Mars Mission. After all, If I was eight years old, how could I *not* like a gigantic truck bristling with weaponry? It's like a mobile Sentai Fortress! And it's not as though AFOLs are hurting for choice right now, either. SW sets are debuting at a furious pace, City is strong, Castle is back, etc. Even though I probably won't buy any of it, I wish Agents the best. *y* Quote

xwingyoda Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 I wish Agents the best. *y* Off course and me too !! The more money TLC makes the better for us, thats fir sure !! I still understand the rationale behind that theme |-/ TLC said they want to stay away from violence (except for licences wich I won't comment) BUT take a look at recent lines: * Dino: huge guns to kill dinos !! * Aqua Raiders: huge guns to kill sea creatures * Mars Mission: even worse since they kill and enslave aliens !! Oh well, one thing is for sure is that those themes have a very short lifespam, and we can bet that Agents will be the same. Tks 5150 Lego for reminding people I stayed positive on that line but since certain persons can't really read correctly lets have seconds !! I am sure that line will have great parts and accessories and I really can't wait for the smaller sets which I think will be interesting !! *yoda* Quote
zz-80 Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 I can't help. The truck reminds me of MASK: Miles Mayhems and Nash Goreys Outlaw! :-D Great! I can even remember their names... Quote
Brainbox Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 (edited) After all, If I was eight years old, how could I *not* like a gigantic truck bristling with weaponry? It's like a mobile Sentai Fortress! Never mind that, I'm 17 and how could I not like the idea of "a gigantic truck bristling with weaponry?" So, the set itself. Well, like I said, it's a big truck, and it's a mobile HQ. Now, I love Mobile HQs, always have, so that's a good thing. Second there're quite a lot of vehicles in there, so that's also a plus, especially if they all actually fit inside the truck (apart from what looks like the bad guy obviously). Third, it looks like we get purple. Purple is a good colour. Fourth, I quite enjoyed Alpha Team, so if it's somethoing similar, is that really such a bad thing? Now, I agree, this set isn't absolutely fantastic. But it's not that bad, and like people have said, we've only seen this one set. If the smaller sets are more of the same, but 'better' then it should be good. Besides, it's got a cool logo. ;-) Edited January 1, 2008 by Brainbox Quote
pjibid Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 They are only premliminery remember Sorry for bad spelling :-$ Quote
Eothein Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 Hmm it looks "interesting" although lets all reserve judgment until we some final set pictures. Although I was really hoping the theme would be akin to older Bond films type espionage action. As for violence in non license themes, Lego has done it a lot throughout their history with themes like Pirates and Castle. However the new themes like Mars Mission are more play orientated so we have flick missiles etc. While the idea goes against the Lego ethos the violence is never implicit, the preliminary picture of the Agents doesn't suggest violence to me it suggest a lot of fun little vehicles. No to mention neither Dino Attack or Mars Mission are pitting humans against humans it Quote
pjibid Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 INTERESTING what are you talking about??!! >:-( >:-( Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 INTERESTING what are you talking about??!! >:-( >:-( Eothein is entitled to an opinion! I think it looks interesting too, I am looking forward to better pictures of the sets. Quote
xwingyoda Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 INTERESTING what are you talking about??!! >:-( >:-( Please tone it down ;-) Everyone is entitled to different opinions and thats whats great !! Imagine how life would be dull if everyone thought the same way :-/ I am always interested to see novelty in a brand I like !! The fact I like the product is irrelevent in that aspect ;-) I totally dislike Bionicle but I alway love to follow all the new sets ;-) *yoda* Quote
yellost Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 Actually, I like that truck (well, at least what I can see of it :-P ) Somehow it reminds meof the Big black truck in those Mask toys (you know, those vehicles that can be transformed into other more advanced ones, with little figs that have a cool helmet to put on their head) Here, I found a pic : Ooooh the fond memories... :'-) (anyone noticed how hard it is sometimes to find pics of some rather old toys?? *wacko* That was the best I could find...) Yellost, you might have not seen my earlier post, but the MASK truck also came to my mind... Something more James Bond oriented would have been nice, but let's just wait and see what comes around. Vader Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 Hmmm interesting new line we have here, i'm not quite sure what to make of this new pic. It seems to me like this line is just a revamped version of the Alpha one from years ago. Anyway i quite like the new truck, i can see that some think it's to big but i personally don't. I actualy like the thought of a all purpose truck for the agents, i believe this is one set that will be better judged with better pics. Quote
captaintau Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 Oh, man, how many hours did I spend trying to replicate MASK sets with LEGO? That could be so cool. Quote
rexcal Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 I can't help. The truck reminds me of MASK I thought exactly the same and was just reading through the whole thread, because before posting how much this line reminds me of old MASK toys (well, as far as we can tell from that one picture...), I wanted to make sure that not dozens of other members had written that before. So the credits go to you, zz-80! ;-) Otherwise I want to agree to those who are becoming sick of all the fighting lines LEGO comes up with, including the heavy use of weapons. I'm not generally against weapons in LEGO sets, I just think it gets a little too much and too strong lately. And by the way: Same goes for all the vehicles included in sets, for example the tons of vehicles in the Batman line. Personally I find that boring, but as we know by now, internal studies have shown that kids go for the sets with lots of vehicles. So that's an obvious choice for LEGO. Quote
zz-80 Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 So the credits go to you, zz-80 Yipee!! :-D I don't want to comment further on that set until we get better pics. Due to the size and lighting reflections we really shouldn't judge too fast here. A MASK line... wooo. *wub* I wasn't able to build the cars with 80s Legos, maybe I should try it again with all these new special pieces... Quote
Greyfox327 Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 (edited) Think it could be in place of the new G.I. Joe movie? Otherwise I think it looks cool! Edited January 2, 2008 by Greyfox327 Quote

Will Sorry, but guns are guns. Just cause there of a differnt era, or don't look exactly like what is avaible today doesn't make them any better than another gun. So to me, that excuse just doesn't fly. Also, Wild West and both were human vs. human. I don't see whats so "innocent"about either. .Tks 5150 Lego for reminding people I stayed positive on that line but since certain persons can't really read correctly lets have seconds !!
