Posted June 20, 20168 yr Now what is that? Well, it’s cereal mascot and a computer game. In Denmark and Sweden the cereal is known as “Guldkorn / Kalas Puffar”. In other country’s you properly know by the name of “Sugar Puff” or “Honey Monster Puff” From 1956 to 1994 we had the bear “Puff” and his train on the boxes, in 1991 OTA (Quaker) made the computer game for Commodore 64, Amiga 500 and PC DOS. It is this interpretation that I've created a LEGO model. Amiga version The train is rather small, so the proportions are probably not entirely correct, but since my source material has been somewhat limited, but I think it went well to get the cartoony look. I always thought the stop signal on the old boxes looked suspiciously like the ones in my 70's blue rail train set (allthough that one is red and the one on the box is blue/dark blue) Couldn't find a better pic, sorry - What do you think? June 20, 20168 yr I think you've got a winner there! Here in the U.S. we know them as "Corn Pops". They were good snackin' while watching Saturday morning cartoons on the TV. (early '60's for me) Although we got to see a number of different mascots, we never got a train to go with them. You have a good looking model there. Any plans to motorize? Any plans to motorize? Hmmm..... Right now I have no plans. But maybe, and it's only a maybe. By using the micro motor and custom made eletrical contacts pickups on the old 9v rails, like on slot cars. It could work.

October 22, 20168 yr Author Once again, I'm been working on a train from "Guldkorn Expressen". This time is that one you can find on their website. http://www.guldkorn.dk / http://www.kalaspuffar.se When they reintroduce Puff the Bear. He now has a partner in the form of a rabbit whose name is unknown. The train is somewhat smaller this time, it looks more like a carnival train or a mine train. The wagons har no function this time. It was not easy to build, since there is no "shadows" on the train. Has it been difficult to make one flat 2D drawing without depth or forms into a 3D LEGO model. Also I made an update to the "print" on the bear from the first train, so he looks like more correct the game version. Edited November 2, 20168 yr by Chr.Maglekaer
November 29, 20168 yr Author This is my third input, the Guldkorn Expressen. Once again it is a steam locomotive. The entire train is designed from a drawing on Tekno model car from last 50s to the mid-60s. Detailed pictures of the car can be seen here: http://www.lauritz.com/da/auktion/tekno-ford-taunus-1000-van-guldkorn/i3017193/ This has given me any headaches since the drawing on the car, has not really any proportions. I decided early on in the design phase, that this train should receive Power Functions. So I've used a shortened version of 10194 as the basis for the driveline. At first I had major problems with the front axle of the train, instead of following the rails it will skip and get stuck. This meant I had to go through several tests to make it work properly. The same goes for the wagon, with three soiled axles it will not get around a bend. But getting the middle axel to slide in and out sideways the problem was solved.
