Hidden beneath castle Anrarr, in a not so long forgotten series of cavernous cellars lies the headquarters of the High council resistance to the rule of the Desert King.

The main story and all four builds from the rest of build are available in the [summer Joust 2016] Kaliphlin Team thread.

I would like to claim the UoP credits for:

Geography: Grasslands,

Military Science: Fortification,

General Building: Lighted Builds (LEDs)

Great looking build! And great job coordinating the Kaliphlin team for Summer Joust!

Thanks so much Kayne, I just hope everyone else had as much fun as I did.

Great build, the Kaliphlin team is at least as good as the Avalonian  tough I love the upper part, I would have tiled the floors more. But than you would have needed a lot of tiles... Anyway, nice MOC!

Great build brickcurve! I really like the wall/ upper layer part, I like how it switches back and forth from grey to tan and brown, it ends up looking really cool. I'm not entirely sold on the second layer, the ground and the table seem very plain in comparison to the wall there and the top layer.

Great, I love the castle wall textures

My suggestion aside from what already was mentioned would be to lower the stools and tables by one brick they look really awkward compared to the minifigs scale.

You know, i've been looking at this backward since i first saw it and i've only just realised... that's the outside of the castle walls, right? I guess i just assumed the underground section would be inside the castle grounds and was a bit confused why it was all so overgrown with foliage! It makes so much more sense now.

Anyway, lots to like in this build - the variation on the walls is really nice and i like the addition of the cutaway at the back of the tower. The underground levels are open enough so you can get a good veiw inside, and the water channel on the lowest level looks rather intriguing. The lighting is nice too. The middle section is definitely the weakest section and could use some more detailing. Just some more elaborate furniture and maybe a rug or two would probably go a long way. Speaking of furniture, those tables and chairs look a bit too high for minifig scale.

I do like the colour combination on the back wall of the middle section though - the sand blue/dark orange and reddish brown really work well together!

Thanks for co-ordinating the Kaliphlin entries for the summer joust, i'm very glad you roped me into it! :classic:

Your best build to date IMO. The tower and walls are textured nicely and there alot of details to enjoy-that cake, custom capes and flags especially!

Thanks everyone! The tiled middle layer was something I was originally going to do but by the time the end of the competition was in sight there was no time time left to do and order.

Yes that would make the foliage inside the walls rather incongruous! I added that underground section just outside the walls as it is mount to be a hidden part of the castle, dedicated to plotting the downfall of the desert king and persuading allies to join the cause.

A rug! Thats exactly what it needed, oh well, next time then, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

At some pins I hope to have a go at a really detailed interior, I just haven't had the time as of yet.

Glad you enjoyed it, hopefully we will have a Kaliphlin team for next years summer joust as well. :classic:

Thanks.

I just like the cake...

Not that anything else is bad (since it is not), but cake...

I think this says it all. :moar: Edited by BrickCurve

I always have liked subterranean builds, this is not an exception, colorful display of the palette also, and some good techniques used. Well done.

It's a fantastic build :classic: The top part, especially with the grass and the castle wall, are brilliant. I also really enjoyed the party scene in the hall, chiefly all that food and cake !!

. Thanks, the top part did work the best as it is scenes like that that I have the most experience in making. The lower two layers were something of an experiment but I am glad to hear that it works!

The color combination and wall texturing is great mate

Your photography is very crisp too, the first pic is like rendering

I really like the fact that you left big gaps from the sides too!

. Thanks! I am glad the photos work, the lighting was really hard to get right- it took me four goes!
