Marvel Superheroes 2017 - Set Discussion

These sets are very disappointing. The arena could have been a lot better, and that ship is meh. The minifigures are superb though.

EDIT: Also I don't like Thor using the katanas... But I noticed something about the stadium, I'm pretty sure if you were buy a couple of them you will be able to make a full stadium. Looks really cool!

The sets aren't too amazing in and of themselves (except for that Fenris wolf--the design looks really sharp and I spy a plethora of exciting parts) but the minifigures in each are amazing. Or should I say...incredible?

Wow! These sets are super meh! The ship is so simple and blase'! And the arena is soooo... Colorful and dorky. But IMO, kids unfortunately just want the minifigures when it comes to SH sets. They could careless about the builds I think.

I'm actually a little turned off by the Brucs Banner figure; I love that we're finally getting one, and the head is great. It's an easy swap, but I for one don't like all the black on that figure. I would've much preferred a bit of purple or a ripping shirt to go along with the green eyes signifying change 

The arena, however, is growing on me

Well, I probably won't get either of these since I'm not a big Super Heroes collector, but personally I love the design of that ship and the arena isn't half-bad either (though I wish it had more play features besides the falling columns). No idea what the people who describe them as "belonging in Juniors" are on—these are a great deal more complex and interesting than anything that theme could provide.

With the release of both DC and Marvel sets, I can say they focused on DC, seeing those JL sets minifigs and builds are way much better. As a fan of Marvel it hurts so much! Lmao.

These both look pretty good, but only for the figs.

Well, I think they're better than the homecoming sets at least. Hopefully they step up their game for Infinity War.

After seeing the Justice League sets, I'm way happier about the Thor sets. At least they're interesting and have great new figures and decent builds even if they could be better. I'll pick up another arena set without figures to mod into a full arena.

The AoU sets we're pretty good and IW will bring in a lot more money so they better go all out. But if I'm going to be honest, I'm skipping the larger Homecoming set. Shocker is bad, and a new Iron Man is not a big enough draw to get me to buy it. We have enough trucks in this theme and we already have classic vulture who I prefer :/

@Ultron Even if the sets are failure, (builds specifically) I'll pick up the larger set because of those figs. MCU fan btw, so I don't have a choice. I'm excited to mod the Vulture wings. I probably get the robbers in the secondary market. 

For Thor sets, I really don't know if I'm going to pick em up as the value is quite high. Still undecided but yeap figs are definitely worth getting.

I honestly like the Asgard set.  The Fenris Wolf build is a nice surprise.  I most likely will replace Valkyrie's hair with Rey's, though.  I'm not overly fond of the one they chose.

The ship build is decent for the size of the set, in my opinion.  I really don't think we should get too worked up on what is lacking since these are the first Thor movie sets we have ever gotten.  Dark World may not have been the best of the MCU, but I still wish we had Kurse and Malekith in figure form.

I get how the inclusion of Banner in the Asgard set seems off.  Can't do much help in human form.  Regardless, I'm glad to have a normal Banner to stand alongside the other Avengers rather than just having Hulk.

When are these expected to be released?  I know Spider-Man is scheduled for June, but will Thor be a few more months since it is a November movie?

Everyone's always complaining about how Super Hero sets are always just vehicles and more re-hashes of vehicles. We finally get a building - not just a building an arena and it looks incredible and people are complaining... We're getting the fenris wolf and a bunch of amazing figures in the other set which is amazing! Also the Justice League sets are again going to be - wait for it - two more sets based on vehicles...

Yeah!!  I can see the building fans being really disappointed!      but for the minifigures collectors. like myself, this is amazing!  Really great figs into relatively small sets!

You can't please everyone. But I thinks that's the purpose of the discussion thread, not mainly to complain but atleast discuss what is the pros and cons of the sets that are upcoming!

Even a generic hair could work, not that mohawk thingy, it looks ugly. Both Thor: Ragnarok and JL are set to be released in August.

Didn't realize that Grandmaster has one pearl gold arm! That's pretty cool. I can't wait for that Hela figure. I may or may not replace Valkyrie's hair; I'll just have to see how she looks with Rey's. It's disappointing that Valkyrie only has one face and that it's so passive. Even if her character turns up in Infinity War, I think it's highly unlikely that we'd get another new figure of her so soon after the first because they'll have to pick and choose which heroes to represent.

I really wanted to like these builds... But they're mostly terrible. Only the Fenris wolf looks great. The ship is really plain; I was hoping for some special feature to set it apart from other generic spaceships. And the arena... The lack of play features is really disappointing.

I'm going to have to re-think if I want these sets, especially since the Justice League ones look a lot more promising!

Arena set looks so ugly! Worst MCU set ever? Just kidding that Mandarin set from Iron Man3 still is the worst! But Arena looks so simple, like a 5 year old kid build it! Ship looks meh at best, still better than Arena though. 

But the big question is why MCU sets this year are so bad? They are usually pretty decent or good, not a hot mess like this years sets! First GoTG 2 sets are bad, then Spider-Man, then Thor 3! Did Lego just assign the best designers to LBM line since it's their ip? I hope MCU sets next year are going to be something spectacular to make up for this years horror of a sets!

As I was saying, we're doomed this year. We have Spidey, GotG and Thor those are pretty good and have potential characters. TLG just waste em' specially Spidey with figs.

I will buy the set just because of the figure, I am not interested in the build for the MCU set anymore.

I rather paying more for a better design than paying less for some crap builds to be honest. :/

But I know kids will be very happy with cheap set with all the minifigures

These sets look... A little below average. The figures... Outstanding!!! Hope to be able to pick them all up.
