r5-j2 Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 I`ve been playing the Lego Marvel Super heroes and Avengers games with my great grandson and every level has a "Stan Lee in peril " to save. I think a lot of AFOLs ,would buy a Stan Lee set (myself included, even though I`m really a D.C. fan), cos who out there doesn`t like Stan?....the man is a legend! He has appeared doing cameos, in cartoons, movies and games, so why not give this genius a Lego set?. It wouldn`t have to be too expensive; i.e. Stan being held captive in some setting or locked up in a vehicle by one or two bad dudes (AIM or HYDRA come to mind) along with a named bad guy, with an appropriate hero to save him, (maybe a £20-£25 set, like Doc Ock`s Truck set or similar ) What do you good people think? Kenny You see, there are a few things that may the reason why he isn't real... 1. AFOLs know Stan, not as many kids know him, (But I do), and LEGO mostly aims to pleasing kids, hence the Hulk car coming 2017. 2. LEGO would probably never put Stan in a cheap set- that would be too nice. They could release him in three ways... WAY 1: SDCC! WAY 2: Video-Game Pre-Order WAY 3: Set Way 1 seems partially likely, Way 2 seems most likely, and Way 3 seems 100% unlikely. So as far as I am guessing for now, not until the next Marvel Video-Game. r5-j2 Posted July 9, 2016 Author Posted July 9, 2016 (edited) So there is the option to get him custom made?, would it be expensive?...who could provide this service, if he is unlikely to appear from Lego themselves/ Thanks Kenny. Edited July 9, 2016 by r5-j2 Quote
LegoPanda Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 http://www.minifigures.com/products/stan-lee.html This custom minifigure site sells them. Rather expansive because it is in pound though, but it might be what you're looking for. Quote

AFOLs know Stan, not as many kids know him, (But I do), and LEGO mostly aims to pleasing kids, hence the Hulk car coming 2017. I'm sure plenty of kids have played the LEGO Marvel games and would recognise him from that. The issue is more than they wouldn't buy a LEGO set to get a Stan Lee figure. That said, there's no reason they can't put him in a set instead of a generic "innocent bystander". Quote
Robianco Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 There are several custom Stan Lee already available. Christo made an exact copy of the game version as a pad printed figure: http://custombrickandminifig.auctivacommerce.com/Custom-Stan-Lee-P4924336.aspx A digitally printed figure has been made also... Point proven, but Marvel sets don't usually have innocent bystanders, unless an important character. (Mary Jane, Aunt May, Pepper Potts) Quote

Robianco Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 That's true although in gorilla gross goes bananas there was a banana delivery man DC have had a couple... Banana delivery man and the farmer in the new Scarecrow set. Can't think of anything more civilian than a police officer in Marvel. Quote

Can't think of anything more civilian than a police officer in Marvel. If you go back to the Spider-Man sets, there's some paramedics, robbers and scientists... but yeah, very few civilians in the line over all. Quote
r5-j2 Posted July 9, 2016 Author Posted July 9, 2016 Thanks for the links everybody, there`s more to this minifig collecting than I knew.I really appreciate the feed-back. Regards Kenny. Quote
HawkLord Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 I would love a Stan Lee minifigure or at the very least a skin tone head that had close enough printing to make a purist custom. I could see a Stan Lee polybag being offered with purchase on a given month. If it was a video game bonus, that would suck as not everyone plays the video games. An SDCC exclusive could also be likely, but that would literally be the worst case scenario for most collectors. Quote
K-Nut Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 I can wholeheartedly recommend the Christo version. It's a wonderful display piece of high quality, just like the rest of his figures. If you can get it for a price you're willing to pay, definitely pick it up Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 If LEGO must have SDCC exclusives, I think real-world people behind their licensed franchises such as Stan Lee (and George Lucas, Joel Siegel, Jerry Shuster, Peter Jackson, Bill Finger, J. K. Rowling, Walt Disney, John Lasseter, etc.) would be the way to go. Quote

That`s a really cool concept!...without these folk, there wouldn`t be any franchise materiel for Lego to make money from (or for us to enjoy) Quote

Probably not so much for Stan Lee (since he'll be in ANYTHING), but the others would be a lot more work for a pretty niche product... I am surprised Stan Lee hasn't been the SDCC minifig, though. Not to be morbid, but maybe they're waiting until he dies so they can "honor" him with it? Quote
