Puvel Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 (edited) A couple of months ago one of the flotillas of the QuickWing trade route came under attack by the Clearance. The Corrington fleet protecting the flotilla defeated the pirate and carried on sailing. Captain Horatio Cavendish of the HMS Alice saw this as an opportunity and took over the ship. He managed to get the ship back to port and offered it as a price to Puvel. Puvel was happy to invest some doubloons in the ship and made it seaworthy again. He offered the position of captain to Mr. Cavendish who was happy to take up command of a larger vessel. The first mission would be to make the seas safer so the ship will join the brick sea purge. Kai NRG Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Very cool ship Puvel, the dark red is great and I really like the checkered black and white for some reason! Great shaping as well. The sails do blend into the background a bit much, but the rest of your colors really pop (as always!) which is great! Quote
Capt Wolf Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Nice ship! I like how you've created the bow. Overall, the colors are good; I like how you've used the black-and-white checkerboard effect to create some curves in the side. And as before, I love how you build those sails! Quote
narbilu Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Wow, much better with the additional sails... Just wow! Quote
Ayrlego Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Great ship Puvel and an impressive addition to our fleet! I especially like the shape of the bow - makes her look quite sleek. Good to see some of our captures being fleshed out - fantastic job! Quote
Sir Stig Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Smooth lines with the railing and the bow. A majestic feel and she looks much bigger than she actually is. Great inspiration for my own 4A, and in my view an excellent example of the size for a class 4 ship in general. I must chime in and agree with the others about the checkerboard touch. Quote
SilentWolf Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 I like the coloring on this ship and the look of sheer power it projects. Quote

Have to agree with the sails not being very visible, especially the front ones are barely visible really. I'll just have to keep practising taking photos Nice ship! I like how you've created the bow. The bow was a bit of an experiment, happy it turned out nice. The sails are rearranged from the Sea Cow but I like the look of them too Wow, much better with the additional sails... Just wow! Thanks narbilu! Oh just noticed I forgot to thank Bregir for that. THANKS FOR THE ADVISE BREGIR Great ship Puvel and an impressive addition to our fleet! Bregir Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Great looking ship-sloop, Puvel. I am really happy to see the result of the added mast - it looks much more balanced this way. I am starting to take to these brick built sails, but it does make it hard to make a spanker sail and headsails. Including those would make the rigging even better. The hull is absolutely fantastic. I like the bow with the slop up to the forecastle and maindeck, and the raised quarterdeck is very well done. It all looks very balanced, and the sides with the guns sticking out are well done, as is the very corlandish colourscheme. I would love to see some more different angles to see the stern and bow better, for instance. Beautiful addition to our fleets, Puvel. Quote
Fuzzy MacFuzz Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 What a beauty! Sleek lines, rich colours, neat figure head, perfect sails, bristling with guns, and all topped off with by a stout crew of Corlander's finest. Corland truly rules the waves! I am intrigued by the sails; are these Star Wars pieces? One small addition might be some swivel guns mounted fore and aft, she is currently defencelss in these directions. Having said that, most pirates will surely flee, or surrender, at first sight of such a queen of the seas. Quote
kaiju Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 I am intrigued by the sails; are these Star Wars pieces? Technic panels. Metalbeard's Sea Cow used the same technique (and may have been the source of the parts, not sure if they've been used in white elsewhere in any number). Quote

Will read up on tutorials about building ships and rigging and try out paper or cloth sails, as they are better for rigging. Rigging is a bit of a pain I realise now, the mast aren't very stable now and even just the one line made them fall over multiple times Added some close-ups now for your viewing pleasure What a beauty! Technic panels. Metalbeard's Sea Cow used the same technique (and may have been the source of the parts, not sure if they've been used in white elsewhere in any number). Spot on kaiju! These are basically rearranged Sea Cow sails. When I watched the LEGO movie I really hoped they'd have the ship as a set. Of course it had to be the biggest box of them all so I doubted for a while but it's an absolute beauty and was totally worth it! Quote
