I just built this today,  and as a vw beetle and bus owner and mechanic in real life I have to say the design of the bug is very accurate for the limitations.  The way the side doors curve to the back,  how the front mudguards start off thicker from the inside, the engine compared to the one in the campervan makes much more sense (white fan shroud,  really?).  It makes me wonder if the designer owned it or just studied it very well.

I find all the glass stickers unnecessary,  I didn't apply any of the blue transparent pillar sticks.

The assortment of parts in dark azure is unusual for just a single set to be allowed so many new recolors.  I might get another set just for parts to build some minifig scale vehicles with all those slopes.

What i would have liked though is hubcaps in flat or pearl silver.

Thanks for the review

Talking about parts, as I was building I found it weird to find old-style "thin" clips. Old stock? Would have been weird, even though we still find thin black clips in sets. But it started to make sense as I was assembling those 2 slopes.

As a MOCer I've too used thin clips in places where there was no room for thick ones.

Here's a few LDD Mods...

Without the roof rack, it looks totally sleek!

A few colour variations. If we get more unique parts (e.g. half arches) in different colours, that would be possible!

I have just finished bag 1 and I have to compliment the designers for a really cool set. There are lots of interesting techniques used here. Just wanted to add that while it probably doesn't matter that much, but for step 59 on page 38 I used 1x1 light bley plates to make that blue curved piece more stable.

I like that you too, chose to build the surfboard to what seems as "more correct" shape, and not what was shown. i guess, when i look at various types of boards, "correct" is merely perception.  Has anyone else an opinion on the board shape with regard to top profile?

Me again...

I went ahead and lowered the rear two plates as well. I'm happy with the look and I think it sits well next to the camper.

But...sometimes it's more fun to think it up on your own.

Which covers did u use for the wheels?

Thanks!
