XAxles Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 Missed the FXX by a mile, but otherwise, excellent. Great, great mix. I was right about the other Ferrari. Rest of my takes will be tomorrow when I'm on my desktop. But one thing I'll ask: are the driver figures in the big Mercedes set yellow-skinned? Quote

RacerRabbit Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 Yep. Also I think, but I might be wrong, that this piece is in the Ferrari set. That's a useful looking piece! Do you have the preliminary images of these sets? Quote
XAxles Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 ^^Phew. I would have gotten worried if they were fleshies. Last Q: does that FXX have tailfins and a rear wing that seems to have a missing middle piece? Now for the takes: 75881: Told ya they'd release it. Sticker-phobes might want to steer clear, but considering much of us have seen the animated short, it's a keeper. 75882: You must be talking about the FXX K, which is stupendous, yes. Play feature, though... not sure. Wind tunnels aren't that spectacular save for when you put vapor trails. Control station might come with useful stickers. 75877: That's the Mercedes-AMG GT3--God, what a boring, cachet-less name. Shame because the IRL car is a beautiful beast. Let me have a peek, CM. 75878: Yes, that sounds like the Chiron to me. So 75879 will be for the single Ferrari F1 car. Total 6 sets for 1H 2017, maybe. This theme is getting more and more hits. Quote
dinogorgon Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Looks like the "Mercedes Pit Stop" set has switched set numbers. Maybe we'll still get a fourth solo car announcement, for a total of seven SC sets in 2017 after all. 75880 Mercedes Pit Stop 75883 - Giant set! There's a very long build in the back that contains a camera on an operated crane, I think the actual pit stop the car can be put inside, and a giant winners area on the far left. Their corners are made with the giant round pieces used for the Alien Conquest UFOs and the smaller ones as well. The other builds include 2 white/green Formula cars, a cart, a "christmas tree", a hot dog cart, and 5 minifigs. White and green sounds like last years Mercedes F1 W06 livery. Quote
Vectormatic Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 (edited) Wow, so the ford GT set IS happening... Im on the fence about getting it considering i bricklinked the GT40.... (and after what ford pulled at LM24 this year im not exactly keen on displaying their new GT), if it comes with pearl golden wheels i might upgrade my GT40 with a set of those though. The SF16H will be a sure buy, as will the AMG GT and Chiron, but ill probably give the pitstop set a pass, im not a fan off the big playsets, and paying €100 for two identical F1 Mercs is kinda meh... CM4Sci, do you happen to know if the FXX is the original (Enzo-based) FXX, or the (LaFerrari-based) FXX-K? Kind of a shame if we only get 3 single car sets instead of the usual 4, those are my favorites, no money wasted on display paraphernalia im gonna scrap anyway. EDIT: But one thing I'll ask: are the driver figures in the big Mercedes set yellow-skinned? Yep. I guess that is Pascal Wehrlein filling in for Lewis then? GallardoLU Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 75882 - FXX-K (probably). I'm not normally one for liking the "extra" stuff that comes with these cars but I've an unusual love for wind tunnels. and will very likely get this one first, even if I'm not a big Ferrari fan like the set includes. 75881 - 2016 GT and 1966 GT40. did not expect this one, but happy it's happening will be a good set to pair with this years Porsche 917k and 919. 75883 - Formula 1 Mercedes AMG PETRONAS. I'm going to need to see this one before I have any idea if it will be worth it to me. F1 Lego has always been a bit off (very oversized even compared to their oversized cars in the same theme) if the main build is done well enough I may want to grab this one too. 75877 - Mercedes AMG GT3. real car is rather elegant, even If the hood is hugely long. probably will grab it either way 75878 - Bugatti Chiron. will need to see this, a very sleek and smooth car in real life, and have high hopes but low expectations for Lego on it. knowing me I'll still get it. dinogorgon Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 CM4Sci, do you happen to know if the FXX is the original (Enzo-based) FXX, or the (LaFerrari-based) FXX-K? Brickset has the set name listed as "Ferrari FXX K & Development Center." Apart from the new piece(s), I wonder how different the build will be from 2015's LaFerrari? Quote

Apart from the new piece(s), I wonder how different the build will be from 2015's LaFerrari? The differences arent that large in real life, a black bonnet, the two small spoilers at the back, a slightly more agressive splitter at the front, and a different exhaust/difuser setup. Apart from the colours/stickers, the only differences that show up in lego scale are the two spoilers at the back and the difuser/exhaust bit, but given that that bit was a sticker on the 2015 SC model, it might very well be the same. That makes this a rather difficult set, either it is 95% identical to the old LaFerrari, and isnt really worth getting (for the car itself), or it includes a significantly improved build, and i'd be inclined to upgrade the old model... again ending up with two nearly identical cars. Chimaninja454 Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 (edited) Again another interesting wave - but 3 small car sets could mean another 3 in summer - would be great! Edited September 17, 2016 by Chimaninja454 Quote
Legocity2713 Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 Happy to see the 1966 and 2016 Ford GTs from that video Lego released finally in physical brick form. The Bugatti looks great as well! Quote
LegoRomania Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Amazing wave! I hope the line will continue in the future. Quote
Emmi Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 (edited) The Bugatti looks amazing! I wish they'd make a Creator Expert set out of this car Edited September 24, 2016 by Emmi Quote
Exetrius Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 That windtunnel is awesome! Also, it's great to see the classic Ford GT40! Quote

Sadly in the leaked pictures the front of the FXX K is directed away from the reader, so we can't see the bonnet, splitter, etc. However, it does show off the brick-built diffuser, exhausts, and fins. The side panels look to be redesigned, and I can't be certain, but it looks like the 1x1 round bricks in the front have been replaced too. The dyno/ wind tunnel looks quite interesting. Definitely want a better look at all that stuff in the background too. Quote
SirBlake Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 I don't know how it is that I'm just now getting to this thread and the associated pic, but I have mixed feelings on this wave. The pendulum has swung back toward more exotic euro cars in both street and race trim. That's fine I guess but there was a lot more for my tastes in this years sets, especially considering the older vintage cars like the Camaro and Model A hot rod. That said, the Ford GT set scratches that itch for me very well, so I can't complain too much. I am thankful that this theme is heading into its third year, and I hope it continues. Quote

In cases like this you see how awful Speed Champions cars look without stickers! Btw, that green in Mercedes F1 W06 doesn't look right. It should be aqua... (I can't think of a more suiting colour, since thay discontinued Dark Turquoise... Quote

There are a few interesting colour choices in several of the sets; particularly the Mercedes AMG Petronas crew that are all clad in red overalls, which look suspiciously similar to the Ferrari team overalls from previous sets. The Cobra Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Remember these are preliminary pics, so some figures are just place-holders. Quote

Yeah, that's what i was alluding to ;) The 2016 GT also has slightly different colouring to the one we saw in the promo video a few months back. Quote
PickleManDan Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 I love the Bugatti Chiron. Can't wait to get it! Quote
XAxles Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 (edited) As I see them... GIVE ME ALL OF THAT FXX K PLEASE NOW NOW PLEASE PLEASE NOW NOW PLEASE PLEASE NOW NOW PLEASE PLE-- Obviously that big Mercedes-AMG F1 set isn't final. I expect the final set to have sand green accents, which better represent the real car's Petronas sponsorship. Also fortunate is to see homogenous crew. I can make out some strange pieces out in the single-box Ferrari F1 car's airbox. Otherwise, it's more or less the same as the one from the big set when Wave 1 came up. Fords good. Fords great. Fords excellent. Should be easy to stockify the newer one. They nailed the Chiron. All of it. It's like they got a shrink ray and pointed it to the car. Hmm... the build is sound, but it sure could use Pearl Silver or True Silver instead of Flat Med. Grey, or it wouldn't pop out of the shelves. It doesn't really help that there's not a lot of people who tune in to GT3 (a criminal offense). Overall, the consistency of this theme still shows, and there's no signs of slowing down. Exetrius Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 what I find interesting is that none of the sets shows stickers yet, only prints, but then there's the Bugatti with all it's decoration it seems. Would be awesome to get prints for the most important parts, for once. Quote
