andythenorth Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 why does no one like the HE? It's not "no one". A few people giving their opinion in a forum isn't everyone who bought that set. Quote
Lego Dino 500 Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 All I know is I hope it's a new Santa Fe or a GG1 with a set of Amfleet cars. Quote
cgarison Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 why does no one like the HE? I think it sold well and was a great representation of the real french TGV given the design constraints. Honestly I prefer it to the Maersk train. I like the HE and it was my first Lego train. I think the integration of the PowerFunctions could have been better with the use of two PF train motors instead of just one because on a short layout, just one motor struggles with the length of a full train (two HE sets put together.) But if this is to be a child friendly set, then one motor works best because the train can be a handful the way I have it setup. Quote
THERIZE Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I love it as well. I don't understand why everybody is fond about the Emerald Night though. I think it has something to do with taste ;) it has to do something with taste if you like a locomotive with an oversized boiler and undersized wheels... Quote
legonerd54321 Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Could this be a possible hint? Quote
THERIZE Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Could this be a possible hint? lets hope it is! Quote
paul_delahaye Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Could this be a possible hint? Looks more like an advert for LEGO ideas to me……but we live in hope. Quote
dr_spock Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Could an ambassador compile and send our wish list to LEGO? Quote
CM4Sci Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 For those who wanted to know about the Friends Party Train - it's not even a train, just a yellow bicycle with 3 carts on the back. Quote
fred67 Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I don't understand why you guys think a non-committal, "hey, go take your idea to the ideas site" reply is a hint of anything except some public service rep. trying to gently let you down. Quote
dr_spock Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 For those who wanted to know about the Friends Party Train - it's not even a train, just a yellow bicycle with 3 carts on the back. Thanks. I might still get it for the yellow bicycle and animals. Quote

After the BrickWorld Princess Train, Lego probably knew whatever was in the pipes was never going to compete. Quote
xboxtravis7992 Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 it has to do something with taste if you like a locomotive with an oversized boiler and undersized wheels... I love the Night: but I admit the boiler makes it look like a Big Boy boiler on the wheels of 2-8-0 from the early 1900's... A lot of great designs in the Night (the curved slope pieces were awesome!), but the final scale is just... Wrong. Would be better pretending it is an USA Southern Railway 4-6-2 just based on size than the British LNER 4-6-2 it is shaped as. But anyway back to the new Lego trains... Although AFOL's are only 5% of the Lego market, a good train should attract AFOLs, Railfans, Parents and Kids. I think the Lego Transcontinental Railroad Golden Spike model currently on Lego Ideas is a great example of this appeal: I have met Railfans at a convention in Evanston Wyoming showing their support for this model, and most of them are not AFOLs either! Appeal might be different outside of the US railroad and history fans. We weren't part of the 1869 Golden Spike. We didn't finish our transcontinential until 1885. Quote
zephyr1934 Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Well, in principle a pair of American 4-4-0 locomotives is "classic" train to even non-railfans, enough so that it might even work internationally (well... at least as good as the Super Chief did). The golden spike is a great topic for lego since you could get away with just two locomotives (but having no cars does degrade the play value even for adults). The big trouble is, the Lone Ranger train was a huge failure, so of course no one will buy a western train from the 1870's... never mind the fact that the movie tanked. Quote
Lego Dino 500 Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 It seems unlikely, but with the fact that Lego allowed TBBT to be made, who else wants a Hell On Wheels locomotive to show up on Lego Ideas? Quote
Duq Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 The Lone Ranger train was actually a pretty good set. It didn't sell well because the movie tanked and because it was a bit expensive because of the license. If the next train is another American steam engine I'll probably buy it if it's a decent design and/or decent parts pack, even if until recently I had no idea what the golden spike meant. Ithink most people in Europe wouldn't know about the golden spike. Quote
Younge Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 I don't think most people in Europe wouldn't know about the golden spike. I thought he was referring to Billy Idol! Quote
bjorkan Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 May be Ninjago Airjitzu High Speed train suprises us :) Quote
Lego Dino 500 Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Ehh, that actually sounds pretty cool. Fantasy themed trains in sets would really help to motivate Lego train popularity. Just make it decent, and add plenty of details. Quote
THERIZE Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 May be Ninjago Airjitzu High Speed train suprises us :) Ninjago train? I only know the canceled Ninjago snake train. Is there a Ninjago train coming? Quote
Steinkopf Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Ninjago train? I only know the canceled Ninjago snake train. Is there a Ninjago train coming? There was never a Ninjago Snake Train planned for production, Mark Stafford made the model as a bit of a joke. Quote
Dread Pirate Rob Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Thank you all for your support for my 50th Anniversary project on Lego Ideas. It made it to 245, which is better than it would have been without your support. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/82031 Still hoping for that Mallard... Or anything that will mark the historic year of 2016 (Or 2015 depending on what you count:) Cheers, Rob Quote
juGSI16V Posted October 8, 2015 Posted October 8, 2015 i think the HE was a great creator train as it was obviously modeled after the French TGV which is my favorite train. But it would be nice to see the tgv duplex drive Hello, I work to the SNCF(FRENCH NATIONAL RAILWAY COMPANY) in France, if you want, I can give you information about TGV duplex. ( Not too confidential all the same) Quote
Lego Dino 500 Posted October 10, 2015 Posted October 10, 2015 I'd love to see any train, as long as it comes with a nice amount of various passenger cars in a neutral color. Preferably a EMD F7 or DB103 with observation/dining cars, sleeper cars, baggage/mail cars, and a observation ending car. As long as it has that, I'll be happy. Quote
