Hello,

I work to the SNCF(FRENCH NATIONAL RAILWAY COMPANY) in France, if you want, I can give you information about TGV duplex.

( Not too confidential all the same) :laugh:

Nice place to work? What happened to the TGV Poste trains? What do they look like inside?

Hi guys, I already know this isn't the right spot for this; sorry, but my permissions are still out of whack and I can't even view my own profile "You are not permitted to view profiles." lol I think because I haven't hit my 10 post count. No clue what I have now and I'm not going to just spam to reach it and hope that works. So here goes:

We just bought an Emerald Night for our modular city (if you had a nickle for every time you've heard that, right?) and we have two tables: 29.5" x 76.75 and 29.5 x 47.25. They'll be placed as if to make a 29.5" x 127 table, which should be just wide enough for an oval using the standard straight and curved pieces we want to use, except there will be a 6" gap between them though so we want two ovals connected by a single track, sort of like this:

O_O

I anticipate our 10 modulars will barely fit into a standard oval on the larger table and our Winter Village into the almost-circle on the smaller one so space for track shennanigans is limited.

I considered the double crossover piece that looks like an "X" but the straight piece in the middle of the turns means the then extended semi-circles won't fit. So only other option, besides giving up and just doing an oval on the larger table or taking up an enormous amount of space through the middle of our would-be-town, is 2x Switching Tracks back-to-back. Is it possible it have 3 curved pieces extending from the curved part of the Switch Track to make it to the center and then 4 more curves going to opposite/standard-oval direction, so that it has the same diameter as the 8-curve semi-circle that would barely fit as is? Any other ideas?

@Pedilego

This was actually a topic for sets to come not actually peoples ideas, it does seem great though and just wanted to let you know.

Yeah... I searched 5 pages of "train" keyword results, couldn't find anything close, and couldn't make a thread. I would be glad to have a mod move it to wherever the proper location is. Thanks for the feedback.

@Pedilego

A switchback like you described can be done by the 8 curve piece turn, straights off one side and on the other three curves, then one straight and three curves again. This spaces the two lines the same distance apart as the lines from a switch piece.

Thanks!!

Now to try to get back "on track", have they done a cart with logs on it? That'd be a cool feature that perhaps hasn't been done before for AFOLs and has "disaster" play-ability for the kiddos. Seems like they could even do it on an updated 50th Anniversary train... have to do something to add details to the back pieces, right?

They did in the my own train series. Saw them last week mint in "the vault" in Billund...

I had a dream last night that the next creator train was based on the SP Daylight and was a restuarant themed train... and you could buy additional coaches for $59.... I had to sign a NDA as well before looking at the pictures because it was a super secret and was going to be announced in a few days... even though I was about to go on Eurobricks and talk all about it! Hahaha crazy dream!

Watch that happen, I will praise you and call you a genie forever.

HAHA - That's why I thought I should write it down here before anything ( if anything) gets annouced! According to the dream there will be a new conductor minifigure too... random I know but thats what started the conversation with the shop keeper... :grin:

That's pretty much a perfect train. Offer the set with the loco and the tender and a car, and then sell a single individual car set with parts to make articulated chair/restaraunt cars, sleeper cars, and a observation car ending. Be it diesel, steam, gas turbine, or electric, I'll accept it.

You shouldn't be posting about it if you signed a NDA. :wink:

I've built a couple of logging trucks, but they were a bit of a sod to keep together. The best photo I have of them is here. I ended up almost rebuilding them because the sides fell off as soon as you even touched them. They're a lot sturdier now, although they look almost exactly the same. :classic:

Trouble with Horizon Express is that it was released as a push along train, at a time when TLG released motorised passenger & cargo trains which had more playability.

Didn't stop me buying 2 though! :laugh:

That's a very specific dream. I'd like to see it come true :tongue:

Would a RLUG tour get access to the vault?

Yups :) we went there with other 1000steine people, the one in the LEGO Idea House, as I understood from Kim there are in fact three different vaults, but I think the other two are 'real' vaults.

A HST as the next creator train would be great addition, I'd have to recolour and modify it to the Australian CountryLink version though.

I'd still love to see a SPMD in the original black orange and white scheme, but it's more likely they'd do the patriot scheme in red white and blue since that livery was used in the 1970s around the start of Lego Trains, and we just got black orange and white in the HE.

SPMD - Southern Pacific Morning Daylight I'm assuming.... And I'm pretty sure in my dream that the shop keeper said it was the patriot scheme... although I was hoping it was the Orange scheme - which could also make sense seeing as there are more orange bricks now since the HE.....

Man I just want an annoucement!!!
