ToaDraco Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 (edited) So with the new trailer released giving us a better glimpse of Makuta, it appears we will be getting a proper titan form for him. It also appears that he has one of those printed disks with a swirling vortex print that first was introduced in the Ultra Agents line so that's interesting. You can also clearly see some shell armor around his neck area and piston add-ons as part of his shoulder structure. Based on those, he'll be pretty darn big. Almost as big as Umarak the Destroyer I'm guessing. That'll make for an awesome set! I'm betting he will have a lot of trans purple and black and maybe a hammer for is weapon but a larger, twisted version of his forge hammer from his days as a Mask Maker. edit: upon closer inspection, it appears there is a fancy disk like the one Ekimu has on his shield on his chest with a shadow trap half below that and the Skull villain armor add-on in addition to the piston add-on and some other structuring on his shoulders as well as 4 shells positioned around the disk on his chest. The funny thing is that I was thinking of using a pair of Shadow Traps halves as chest armour (like a big chest mouth) with something round and transparent on the middle (like a Tridax pod) for my.. Makuta MOC. Crazy I tell you. It might be we've already seen previews of both of Makuta's possible forms. The one with the printed chestplate as Makuta's base form (the equivalent of Umarak the Hunter) and this big one as Makuta's final boss form (the Umarak the Destroyer equivalent). Also, I can't help but notice that the mouth part of the MoUP looks closer to the Miru-like look of the JtO poster Mask, rather than the Witch Doctor-esque toothy mouth the Episode 3 trailer Mask. I'm almost afraid to say it, but the "Overlord" Makuta does look like it may actually be a... set? I mean, the new pieces, and unlike the other models in the video it has a clean colorscheme and no apparent crazy/unstable building techniques. And if they're showing it off in a video for 2016... well, I guess we really might be getting a surprise Makuta titan this year after all. EDIT: He has a trans orange version of the current headpiece, too! This is crazy and its going to be awesome seeing what happens going forward, either way. At least we know there's an ART BOOK coming. Seriously, an ART BOOK. Something that fans have been asking for! It's really cool that they heard us and were able to give us this. There are definitely some unique pieces that make it seem like it is with the printed disks on the right hand weapon and those really awesome loincloth pieces. The chest armor stickers are just Onua's but darker and having a Makuta logo on it so maybe the stickers aren't finalized yet just like how the MoUP is clearly a spray-painted prototype. It looks epic by the way! I also love the color scheme, though I was expecting the MoUp to be black or black blended with trans purple. Also, confirmation that we're getting an artbook! G2 concept art has been inspiring and I would love to own a book encompassing it all. Is the book exclusive or just the signed copy? I would be very said if it isn't going to be sold to the masses. I wish Makuta would have been, like, a protector with corrupted masks, and then turn into a blob of spinning pieces and tentacles. No? Oh well. Anyway, I really like the new printed dish piece and the purple cloth pieces (There generally are never enough cloth pieces). Actually, the golden-purple titan doesn't look bad at all. I might even enter the contest. Art of Bionicle book sounds good, even if it's only about the reboot. I'd love to have an art book of Faber's and Templar's work on the old theme, but this reboot seems to have lot of cool concept art too. On another topic, all 2016 Bionicle pieces are available via Bricks&Pieces. Bought Mask of Corruption (1,97€) and trans. medium blue Mask of Creation (~1€). Quote

The printed pieces are a strong indication we're gonna see them again in a few months. I don't think the official Makuta will be as big as the ones we've seen (BIONICLE G2 seems to have an ever narrower range of prices than Hero Factory: we still haven't seen a set costing more than 30$), but he will for sure be using at least those printed pieces. Dragon_Master_48 Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Although the Mask of Ultimate Power could probably do with a slightly smaller circle on the forehead (or maybe it's just a really massive zit or something? Are masks even affected by skin diseases?), it's kind of relaxing to know that the physical version of the mask that we've seen so far actually looks at least somewhat decent. I think the two spikes on the upper part of the mask really go a long way in making the front spire seem less out of place (though, not to complain any further, I'd probably tilt them outward just a tiny bit). It doesn't look like it uses any dublicates unlike for example the original concept by Corvin which features more tr. orange ribcages than has been released on sets in total.
