I want to create a diorama from Tatooine. So I started small with a homestead:

I've created 2 versions (not counting the x revisions ), one with a studless roof and one with studs:

So, which version should I keep, the studless or with studs?

And for those who recognize this homestead, it's based on the homestead in the gorgeous diorama from Marshal Banana:

I really want there to be more official tatooine sets as all the MOCs, including this one, look amazing.

In answer to your question its a tough one but I think the studless roof just about gets my vote...of course with a studded roof it does give scope to place a bit of colour on the roof for texture/sand/dust though? Does that help?!

Looks great! I like the studless one best!

Both are brilliant I ntried to do this myself but using a round dome from the cantina set...didn't look anything like as good as either of these

One thing I'm a bit proud of is the moisture vaporator, I've looked at several pictures and think I'm quite close to the original.

The only problem in LDD is that I can't get the antenna's through the holes. I've attached the LXF file for those that are interested.

I believe you want a pin connector in the holes to attach the sticks.

That's what LDD wants, not what I want

In real life you can perfectly slide the antenna's through the holes. The stop is big enough so that the antenna doesn't slide to the bottom.

Both versions look nice in their own way. After tiling the dome of my UCS R2-D2 I didn't really think it looked any better. There's something about exposed studs that seems to work well for rounded designs.

True, it keeps the lego feel a bit more. I think I'll build both versions as soon as I have all the parts. After all, the studless version is the same as the version with studs, only the roof is lowered a bit.
