CLAAS looks so beautiful. Technic sets has been greatly well designed. As before mentioned, "with almost 2000 parts, it would definitely have qualified as a flagship a couple of years ago".

Really nice review, by the way.

As typical late adopter and someone who is not willing to pay nowhere near RRP I found "my" price and got one.

It is terrific set, selection of parts is so wide, it will be great and great for C-models (most of the time my main criterium for Technic purchase decision  ), build is interesting, lots of clever solutions, and it looks magnificient and all the functions work fine and smoothly.

I disagree strongly with the mostlypresent sentiment about the crane. I think it is cleverly designed crane. Especially considering it is "just" an attachement not the main model (the tractor is).

Well, anyway, if you do not have one, get it. Simple as that.

It's difficult to estimate the building time. I usually build around 250 parts per hour. So a set of 2000 parts will take around 8 hours. With numbered bags, this time might be less, so more parts per hour.

Building this set took three evenings I guess.

Sorry for bumping topic everyone but I wanted to add. It took me 8-9 hours for the tractor and crane.

Third favorite set( 1 42000, 2 42039, 3 42054.) So complex and learned more great techniques.

Wow!  I just finished this set last week (it also took me 8 to 9 hours). I was also very impressed with it and the build techniques, I also learned new things from the build. My favorite set is the 42009 , Mobile Crane followed by the 42042 Crawler Crane. I did not think I would like this set as much as I did. I have to agree with Jim (thanks for the great review) but this is really nice. Interesting techniques and functions.

Strange thing, I got 5 tires (only 4 rims, but 5 tires).

You're lucky, I would love to get an extra one of those!

What do you do with a spare tire but no wheel?

How did you get 5 tires? A cool spare wheel:laugh:.

I actually just got one. Took 3 days and not complete yet (crane).

5 tires in the box!

I worked on mine 8 or 9 or so hours over 3 or 4 days.

To be honest I liked the snowplow more than the crane. The crane looks unfinished, and the PTO vertical adjustment seems a bit useless. For the plow it makes much more sense.

But yes, the set is really great.

It is more like grass plow ;)

Hi, sorry for bumping topic, but when disassembling, I found something odd. Did anyone notice it says there are 10 6l axles, but only 8 are in the set?

Maybe you lost while disassembling.

I have completed 4 big lego technic sets ,  everytime exactly the same number of pieces came with the box ok maybe more but not less..

No, I checked 5 times over, they are not in the set.

It could happen. Several years ago when there were introduction of smooth axle joiners I got in one set both smooth and rigid...both

this

and this

Problem is when you miss something

I counted them in the official instructions - there are definitely 10 of them. I literally flipped through all the pages of the PDF and counted them up to 10. It seems that you must have assembled incorrectly or lost them in disassembly.

Without checking the instructions, did you include both the tractor and the attachment in your count?
