Terrasher Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 (edited) Hey everyone I need help finding a certain part that should be obtainable through Pick a Brick and / or Brick and Pieces. The part needs to be more or less as high as one plate. The thing is... it also has to be bigger than a 1x1 yet smaller than a 2x2. And it should be in white or LBG. I've tried with a 6589 gear in LBG, but I only have like 3, and I need more or less 30 of them. I've also wanted to try with the CMF sailor's hat, but, after searching the web, I've noticed it would stay at an angle when attached on anything. If this is too specific a part to find (which it very probably is), does anyone know about a non-purist way of getting such a piece? Like, buying the 6589 in tan (which is available through BaP) and then spray painting it? Would that end up looking good? Any help would be greatly appreciated. EDIT: I forgot to mention: the use of the part would be to make shields, so it needs to be round. Edited August 5, 2016 by Terrasher Quote
emilstorm Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 (edited) There is the round clip on road sign, but I think it might be 2x2. And then there is the round part of the 2x2 turntable, but it has the studs on one side that protrude a bit. Those were the 2 that came to mind. Edit: 50254 train wheel small, it comes in white, but I guess it's kind of thick for a shield. Edited August 5, 2016 by emilstorm Quote
samurai-turtle Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 This is kind of a dumb response. But, what is wrong with using this "round shields" that already exists? Quote
Terrasher Posted August 5, 2016 Author Posted August 5, 2016 Another close possiblity could be design 2654. It's a bit bigger than 6589 but the curved shape of 2654 is perfect for shields. There is the round clip on road sign, but I think it might be 2x2. And then there is the round part of the 2x2 turntable, but it has the studs on one side that protrude a bit. Those were the 2 that came to mind. Edit: 50254 train wheel small, it comes in white, but I guess it's kind of thick for a shield. I've tried the turntable, but the protruding studs are too noticeable. The train wheel might work, but the way to attach it to the rest of the structure will probably be kinda difficult. I'm looking for something you can attach to a 1x1 brick with stud on the side or a 1x1 with hole. This is kind of a dumb response. But, what is wrong with using this "round shields" that already exists? Most parts LEGO uses as shields are much too big. Quote
emilstorm Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 A 2654 with one of these http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=20482#T=C placed in the middle between the studs should make a pretty nice and functional shield. Quote
KamalMYafi Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 (edited) A 2654 with one of these http://www.bricklink...age?P=20482#T=C placed in the middle between the studs should make a pretty nice and functional shield. I think it's too small (for me) and It can't be placed on the middle of the studs because the bottom part not like 6141/4073. Edited August 6, 2016 by KamalMYafi Quote
emilstorm Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Ah, i forgot it has a different bottom! But I am sure there is an other simple solution for it. Quote
-zenn Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Maybe something of the Clickits range will suit your needs, no pun intended... https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=P&catString=490 Quote
BrickCurve Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Are the shields for a mini figure scale MOC? If so, I think that they would be a bit small. These are about the right size for round shields, and they do come in grey! The part can be seen at Brick Set here- http://brickset.com/parts/4667578 And an example us as a shield from the Vikings sets- http://brickset.com/sets/7016-1/Viking-Boat-against-the-Wyvern-Dragon . Terrasher Posted August 8, 2016 Author Posted August 8, 2016 After having read your replies and tested to see if your suggestions would work on my MOC, I've decided that the easiest way to solve my problem is to use element 2654. Since it's a bit too big, I'll use it in white so that it doesn't stand out more than it should on the final result. By the way, the shields aren't for minifigures, but for architectural detail... Thank you all for your replies, I look forward to sharing my MOC with y'all, I'm sure you'll love it. Quote
